The dragon throne has been claimed, but at what cost? Chaos bleeds across the fractured Empire, and the five royal houses feel the unease of destiny denied. The stunning sequel to House of Dragons, this is Three Dark Crowns meets The Breakfast Club with dragons.
The Emperor’s Trial is over. The dragon throne has been claimed—yet there is no peace to be had. For the first time in history, it is not one emperor who has taken power, but four. Although the young rulers seek to build a better world, there are many who oppose them. Tradition is broken, and so is Etrusia.
And while the empire crumbles, something dark awakens. Something that has waited centuries to unleash true calamity upon the world. Something only the emperors of Etrusia can hope to stop.
Once again, the outcasts will be challenged, but now they face a threat unlike any the world has ever seen. Because a Trial is one thing. War is something else entirely.
Edit 2024: Apparently, this book is not going to be published. Not sure how to feel about it, as I understand that the author conducted herself extremely unprofessionally on Twitter (what a shocker), but also...I want to read the rest of the story, ffs.
Edit: That cover gives BIG Game of Thrones vibes and I'm so here for it <3 Yet another reason 2021 needs to come NOW
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
The battle scenes in this book were outstanding! I felt like I was thrust into the middle of each viewpoint. I'm glad we still got everyone's viewpoint in this novel and I am really happy about how each character was able to grow into theirselves. There was a lot of information thrown into this book, but I didn't feel like I was lost or overwhelmed.
All of these characters have a key part in this war and I love that so much. They are not waiting idlely by while one person saves the day. Without each one of these characters, a lot of things would have gone horribly wrong.
I love the dragons in this book, especially with that twist!
I'm really glad I got the chance to read this series!
Guys. I desperately want to read this book. I need it to be published, please!! Side note: I have no idea where to find an ARC of it at this point but if someone does please let me know!
The sequel to House of Dragons is just as great as I was hoping it would be. I loved the continuation of the story from multiple viewpoints. That was something I enjoyed in the first book and was excited to see it continued in this story. I was also happy to see that each character played an important role in the war. There wasn't one specific hero and I was pleased by that. The real jewel of this book was the battle scenes. The author transports you into the battle with her writing. If you enjoyed the first book in the series, War of Dragons is definitely worth reading.
Fantasy, dragons, and dystopian fiction. I'm really enjoying this series. I had not read the first book in this series prior to receiving this title to review and fell in love with the characters and the action. The second book is also a worthy read. Students will especially like that the emperors initially "chosen" just happened to be the underdogs. I can always relate to that! Overall, good series.
just found out that the author did some sus things on twitter and this book is probably never getting released so i guess i will take on the responsibility and write an amazing fanfiction for it in order to make up for that fact
Pub date: May 2021 The final installment in this fun YA fantasy duology was a little slow going for me at first as it was a bit angsty with the new royals (Emilia, Lucian, Vespir and Ajax) trying to figure out how to rule despite each of their own impostor syndrom. But Hyperia jumpstarts it with her awfulness and strange connection to the Chaotic, who are really cuckoo-crazy. Her surprising transformation, the Chaotic plan, and forced close quarters with the royals change her, and she steals each scene she's in. While Emilia and Lucien were my favs in the previous book, I loved Vespir and Ajax in this one, with their character growth, their fight against an evil that is pretty original, and the way they have to figure out the best way to stop it. And of course, the best part overall is the talking DRAGONS! The more I think about this story, the more I like it! Thank you to the publisher and Edelweiss for an advance copy.
1/13/2026 Im still waiting and wishing this book would release... if anyone knows anything have any updates please post for i been checking here for years!
