One-night stands have rules for a reason.

All Danielle wanted was one night with the cowboy. One night of fun to get her through until her next day off when she could come back into the city and find another distraction from the quiet life she leads in remote Northern Alberta. How she ended up eating breakfast with the cowboy and making plans to spend the day together was beyond her.

That went against all the rules of a one-night stand.

Kirk knew from the second he saw her on the dance floor that she’d be a wild one. Even with that intuition, he wasn’t prepared for just how hard she would be to tame. She was ready to run out on him before they even caught their breath but he had more to give her before the sun came up. Kirk wasn’t putting up with any of her rules.

A few months later, Kirk surprised Danielle with a visit, ready to tell her it was time to throw the rules away for good. Instead, he was met with a surprise of his own.

This is a NEW to me author & books! I am grateful for receiving an ARC. This is a Novella, the story of Danielle & Kirk, it's one hell of a way to start a series I'll tell you that right now!!

Danielle is a short, spunky, happy go lucky fun girl! On a mission to supply her friends with endless stories of her hook-up's. When she meet's Kirk, it's a hair-raising sizzling kind of feeling, for her. When he not only buys her a drink, but also is close enough for strangers not to be, tracing his finger against her back...shivering i tell you!

Kirk is a well known guy, a sexy and very tall dark and handsome drink! So when he spots Danielle, he is ready to make the move. Little did he not expect but Danielle is her own person, beat to her own drum type of deal! When they leave the club together...remember that sizzling I said earlier...S I Z Z L E! It's all fun and games until reality, when it hits these two, it's hits them good!

The sweet cowboy packs a punch and the confident and upfront Danielle bares pain. Doesn't that always somehow go together? I had a lot of fun getting to know these two along with the other characters. Did not expect this to pack a punch as it did, but be prepared. Cowboy novel or novella are always a must, this isn't any different!!

I am rating this a 5 PLUS & RECOMMENDED!!

Not just a fling. Danielle is out clubbing with her friends and meets Kirk. Danielle goes to Kirk's place where they have all night long-lasting sex into the morning. A simple story with lots of sex! 4☆

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Just a Fling by Eden Rayna is a novella in her Driven by Fire series. It is a prequel to the other book in the series but is a standalone story.

"There's something about a cowboy in the city that makes women go wild."

I really liked a lot of aspects of Just a Fling. I really enjoyed the characters themselves. Danielle doesn't let her short stature hold her back from holding her own. She is sassy, smart and funny. She enjoys going out dancing with her friends and sticks with one night stands but at least she's smart about it. Kirk is absolutely charming, he's sweet and a gentleman. Even better, he's take charge in the bedroom and doesn't let Danielle hold the reins. My favorite parts were their playful banter and I genuinely enjoyed their love story.

"I know that one night will not be enough."

However, like most novella's, I felt like it was a bit rushed at points. I understand they had a long distance relationship but I wanted more. I wanted to experience more dating between them like when they go bowling. Most of their time is spent in the bedroom and I didn't feel like I really got to see them fall in love. Another thing that really hurt the story for me was the dialogue in the bedroom there were times when the wording of things made me cringe.

In the end I really enjoyed the characters Eden Rayna created for her Driven by Fire series. I would be interested in reading more in the series in the future.

This novella was cute! I was hooked since I read the synopsis of this story. Any romance with a cowboy is going to be a sexy read. This novella followed Danielle and Kirk. Danielle was hilarious. She was spunky and sassy in a good way. Kirk was sexy as hell from the very beginning of this short story. He was confident without being cocky. He was overall charming and I’m wondering where my cowboy is?? The only thing that didn’t seem right about Kirk was his name, just because I didn’t think his name fit his personality. The only reason I didn’t give this a 5 star rating, was because sometimes Novellas can be rushed because they are short stories. This is a perfect read for anyone who is looking for a short, romance that could be read in a day or less.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Eden Rayna for this opportunity.

Wowsa! This is one hot and spicy romance! 💞💓🔥💞

Danielle is not a very trusting person and she has her reasons for it. So when she meets Kirk while out clubbing, she sets her sights on him as her hookup for the evening because she doesn't do relationships. But she hadn't counted on the emotional connection with Kirk and now it's turned into more than a hookup.💖

This is an interesting read about friendships, love, and trust that will make you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time.💗🔥💕

What a great introduction to a series. This book was a great read and hit home reading about the forrst fires at Fort Mac. This was a great introduction to so many characters that I cannot wait to read their stories this book was about Danielle and Kirk. A small town girl goes into the city for a night of clubbing and wrangles herself an honest to goodness cowboy. Even though this is not an easy road for either of them, time works its magic and fate steps in to assist.

Kirk and Danielle certainly seemed like they belong together, but because of insecurities and inexperience they really have a bumpy road trying to achieve their HEA. I enjoyed these two as very well portrayed characters and found the story to be interesting. Good read!

It seems she has a long list of rules for her fun. But she still intends to let loose. He wants her and is ready to bust through her rules. He wants her and plans to get her. Exciting, hot, enjoyable, humor and so much more. I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

I was given the privilege to get the ARC. I really enjoyed this book. Danielle and Kirk are so cute together. They clicked immediately and are fire. Danielle is quite a stubborn lady and afraid to change her ways. It's Kirk who change her. Kirk is a really charming man. Pretty much swoon worthy. There's no huge drama or any "bad guys" that will separate them. It's only their own decision due to emotions. I would actually like it if there's an epilogue. I want to know what holds for them in the future. Overall, this is a sweet story. If you love a hot, steamy, and sweet read, give this one a try.

Eden Rayna is a new author. To think that this is her 2nd book that she's going to release, I'm really impressed. Pretty descriptive. I'll have to read her other book soon.

I received an ARC of this book and I voluntarily give my review.

This book snuck up on me and swept me away! I fell hard for Kirk and Danielle. Dannielle is a strong independent woman who is in no way looking for a relationship (can you say foreshadowing?) but even knowing that when she meets her hero she would be a goner, I was not prepared for the perfect blend of sweet seductive romance and dirty sexy man. Kirk was the perfect blend of romance and kink and was infatuated with Danielle. I stayed up way past my bedtime reading this one because I couldn't put it down!

“I wish he needed to take his shirt off to hear me better.”
Just a Fling, Chapter Two

Disclosure: I am NOT a romance fiction reader. In fact, I think this is the first ever romance I have read to completion (and not just the first three pages of) in my entire life. So, this review should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Being the adult that I am, I am no stranger to rated R bedroom content, but the romance novel is something new that I have brought to bed with me…

Formalities aside, I thought what better way to start this review than with my favorite line? It is cheeky, I do not deny that, but I laughed out loud. No line in this novella reflected my internal thoughts when checking someone out better than that line above. It brings out the playful, almost nonsensical nature of first flirtation and how at the very start: it’s all about the attraction game.

"Just a Fling" is a romance novella based in Canada about a motel secretary named Danielle and an oil rigging hunk named Kirk. Danielle has always been the party-type: scared of commitment and how her personality changes when the big ‘L’ word swirls in her brain. Kirk is a drifter of sorts, flowing back and forth between towns depending on work and his duties at his family’s farm. He reads as one who is prone to falling into lasting love, no matter how he may convince himself otherwise. These two characters collide (mentally and physically) after crossing paths at The Blue Star Bar (I actually really like how it has a ring to it).

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised while reading. This romance was written responsibly, and I cannot stress enough how important that fact is. Yes, this book was about stepping outside of comfort zones, pushing boundaries, and, well, sex, but it was also in many ways a guide on how to safely embrace your sexuality as a woman. Piper, Danielle’s best friend, acts as the mom of the friend group. She has seen what attraction looks like at its worst: when you are left feeling trapped and hopeless. Due to this, she stands as a light house drawing her friends back home after night after night of clubbing and romantic encounters. She wants them to enjoy what they have—the potential romance waiting for them—but safely. Piper acts as the cautionary tale.

There is great time spent detailing Piper’s Rules for Clubbing and Casual Sex. Danielle must text Piper the name of the club she is at, the address, the name of the man she goes home with, a picture of his face, his home address, and his phone number. Lastly, she must text Piper the moment she leaves the man’s home. I found this detailed process, and its inclusion in the narrative to be one of the novella’s best qualities. There is not enough discussion about how a woman can be safe while embracing her sexuality and the rule set in this novella was a fantastic educational aside.

This being said, I wished this book were aimed for a younger age-range (say college on up). This is because that is the crucial age where this type of education could be trauma-preventing and life-saving. And, hey, if they read about it in a steamy romance novel, maybe it wont feel like old grandmas are lecturing them about how to have fun.

If I am going critique the target audience, then it is only natural that I should critique the cover. In full honesty: I hate romance covers. I loathe them. In the words of librarians I saw online somewhere, these are the “guys who have lost their shirts” covers.

Yes, I agree that covers should accurately convey the genre to the reader, however, I rebel against the tacky trope of shirtless men romance covers. Spice it up a bit! Throw some lady-leg in there, a sexy gaze, quivering lips… something above the trope. I think adjusting the cover might also open the novella up to a younger audience. It would make the novella more versatile in its target audience.

The only other complaint that I would have is: sometimes I would expect a sex scene to come rolling in, and not get one. But, hey, I can’t argue with romantic character development instead. Maybe that’s a me-problem that I wanted more sex…

Danielle is an independent, fiery city girl looking for a fun evening with friends and a one night stand. Kirk is a cowboy enjoying an evening at the club before responsibilities demand most of his attention on his family’s dairy farm. Sparks ignite when their paths cross and continue all the way back to Kirk’s house. Parting ways turns out to be more difficult than either expects. But to move forward, Danielle must tame down her wild ways while Kirk must learn patience to understand her intentions.

“Just A Fling” is a well-written and STEAMY romance novella! Danielle and Kirk are likable characters with a chemistry that also includes humor. Their opposing backgrounds and lifestyles make for dialogue that keeps the reader interested. This book is the perfect accessory to a day at the pool with a margarita in hand

JUST A FLING
by Eden Rayna
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Release Date April 30

Eden Rayna brings us Danielle and Kirk’s story. This is a prequel novella to book 1 Driven by Fire.

I enjoyed seeing Danielle’s story as she was such a great secondary character in Driven by Fire. The chemistry between Danielle and Kirk is hot. I love Danielle’s sassy, happy go lucky and I know what I want attitude. She is such a spitfire and I liked that she isn’t helpless and is super Independent. She is the life of the party where as Kirk is a little more reserved. They have two different personalities but they balance each other perfectly.

As a new indie author Eden Rayna writes with passion and you feel it in her words. I recommend this series as her characters are so well developed and easy to like and the story is easy to read and great.

I read this as the fist in the series, and enjoyed both of the characters and their story. A bit slow around the middle, but then it picked up. I feel there should be a bit more detail about how they got out of the town before the fire, but otherwise it was coherent and enjoyable.
