Identical projects to knit or crochet. Choose one method or try them both.
Knitters who don’t know how to crochet often see crochet patterns and wish there was a way to convert them. The same is true for crocheters who don’t know how to knit. Those who know how to do both like to choose one over the other for the inherent “look” that each offers. This book gives them the option, as instructions for each project are given in both knit and crochet.
From her Ravelry Profile: I have been knitting and crocheting forever. I am a mother and grandmother, and a great grandmother. I design, teach, and write books. My first book was published in 1978, and I just completed my 19th book In addition to the books, I have 2 independently produced video’s/dvd’s, and 3 self published entrelac crochet patterns. My flicker name is MHDesigner. I love it all!
I am a member of the CGOA, The Happily Hooked on Crochet chapter in CT, and a member of The Big Apple Knitters in New York City.
This is an interesting concept, converting a design from knit into crochet (and vice versa). Cheers to Ms. Hubert for her straightforward admission that it's a rather pointless endeavour, what with all those conflicting gauges and textures and calculations and such. With that in mind, this is a show-and-tell guide more than a technical handbook. The patterns don't inspire me to abandon my needles for a hook (or vice versa). I'd recommend this book to someone who can't get enough of yarn, can't be bothered to write their own patterns, and wants to have a go at fully comprehending stitch structure.
Great premise, unfortunately, most of the patterns are uninspired and dowdy looking. I would have loved an explanation on how to adjust patterns from crochet to knit or vice versa, however that is out of sphere of this book.
