First of all, Shannon is by far one of my favorite poets, she writes with such rawness about what it is she is writing about. Five More Minutes is another amazing example of that.

I was listening to a very lofi playlist and i found myself tearing up at parts. this collection really hit home for me in ways i can't completely put my finger on. Another emotional tear jerk from Shannon, as always i look forward to the future collections!

When I tell you Shannon’s poetry collections break my heart and put me back together.. it’s no joke. This is easily my favorite of the collections I’ve read because it describes modern dating culture so well. Between the title reminding me of “Five More Minutes” by Scotty McCreery, to talking about labels and love, to being more than just friends but never lovers.. I just.. WOW. I felt the pain all over, but also the sense of hope she leaves in you as a reader makes you optimistic desp

This is not the first book of poetry I have read by Shannon O'Connor. Last year, I read her piece Mindight in a Mustang, which surrounded themes of sexual assault. Five More Minutes surrounds the themes of love, loss and heartbreak, and letting toxic love go. Both are equally beautiful, in fact, I think O’Connor’s writing has grown even more beautiful.

It’s a short read, but you don’t need to be reading

Shannon's newest collection is such a honest depiction on the spectrum of love. It's about the safety and comfort of love but also the fear of it all crumbling. What I love most about this collection is the way Shannon captures the feeling of missing someone who is right next to you. Someone who hasn't even left you. She reiterates wanting "five more minutes" which is such a universal feeling that anyone who has experienced love can relate to. This collection is honest and raw, and I believe any ...more

Five More Minutes by Shannon O'Connor

First of all I am usually not a big fan of poetry...I honestly just don't get it.
But, Shannon offered me an ARC copy and I figured why not.

She had me hooked with the title and I never put this book down until I had read it three times.   Like I said usually I don't get poetry.  But, this book just hit home with me and I fully understood every single heartfelt emotion in her words.  Please take a chance and read this book...its just Five More Minutes.

I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. This collection is short and sweet, and I think that makes the impact stronger. Five More Minutes tells a heartbreaking story, by the time you realized you're invested in the collection it's over. The length of the collection is, to me, a gorgeous metaphor that ties into the theme. I don't want to give too much away with this review, but it is worth the read. The story is easy to follow and incredibly relatable. ...more

This is easily a staple of Shannon's work, as outdoes herself with this book, which sort of hit home for me as i found it extremely relatable. I kept on turning the pages and reading- feeling all that she wrote and went through. This is a book all poetry lovers should get!
