Wow! L.B. Dunbar becoming my favorite romance author. Especially when the characters are over 40. She really can whops up a very steamy romance sounds so hot.

I love the chemistry between the characters. There are a lot of steamy scenes too. Garret is just unstopable. The banter is seductive and naughty.

The plot is moderate. Not much twist nor drama. But it is not boring nor dragging.

Overall this is a explosive story for lazy Sunday.

Favorite Quotes:

He’s like a dreamy candy bar. Crisp and decadent on the outside, but nuggety good on the inside.

“You break her heart, and I’ll kill you.” The threat comes from a little old lady I didn’t hear approaching even though she uses a cane to stand inside the kitchen… “I own a 1965 Remington .22 I keep in good condition, and I’m not afraid to use it.”

Messes are what men make, and that’s why God created women. To clean them up.

My Review:

Written in my favorite dual POV, this tense yet engaging story crossed the country from Georgia to California and back with several tank loads of angst, dashes of humor, heaping helpings of breath-stealing and volcanically hot sensuality, bitter lashings of family drama, and side orders of swoony romance. Dolores ran away from home and while she wasn’t looking for Oz, she felt as lost as Dorothy Gale and managed to meet a few botoxed witches, developed a fondness for Toto, and fell in love with a Tin Man and Wizard hybrid, but there were no flying monkeys. Roughly 80% of the storylines were fraught with emotional tension and conflict on both coasts before coming to that all-important HEA.

Dolores was first introduced in Second Chance when she took up her brother’s offer and jumped on a plane to California. For the last 27 years she has been working in the family diner, caring for her mother and grandmother and having the occasional booty call with Rusty from the local MC. She has never put her own needs first and to be honest, she just needs some time to breath.

Living at the beach in her brothers condo will hopefully provide her with the peace and tranquility she really needs right now. However, a walk along the beach one day ends with her flat on her back and a big brown labrador doing Darth Vader breathing in her face. This is how she meets Garrett Fox, her new, sexy, next door neighbour.

It is obvious to Dolores that this guy is very self aware of his sexiness and she has him pegged as a player too. She has no intention of getting caught up in his allure while she is staying in Cali but she appreciates the eye candy all the same. Garrett is almost lost for words when he meets Dolores, she is absolutely stunning and the sexier part of that is that she doesn’t realise it. However, her brother Denton warned him to stay away from Dolores so that is in the back of his mind, kind of.

Over the next few weeks they forge a friendship and enjoy hanging out together. Dolores has never felt so relaxed and the flirtatious banter between them is a bit addictive too. Things begin to change between them, there is a shift from friendship to something much deeper. Garrett once told Dolores that he didn’t really have a heart and was incapable of a relationship but it seems that being with Dolores has stirred something in him that has completely changed his mindset on that.

Dolores knows she is falling for Garrett but she is also mindful that this thing between them has a time limit because she really needs to return back home to her Grandmother and her diner. In fact, she is beginning to feel like a bit of an intruder in Garrett’s life and his at times, high society social circle. Garrett has no intention of letting Dolores go, she has changed something in him and he has never felt a connection like this before, could it be love?

There is a Wizard of Oz theme weaved into this story and full transparency, there was a LOT of sexy action happening between these two. I mean a LOT... This author really has staked her claim on writing great stories about people in the over forties ages bracket. Wine & Dine is another fabulous addition to the Silver Foxes series.

5 Star Review Wine & Dine (Sexy Silver Foxes) by L B Dunbar

I have only recently discovered L.B.Dunbar and I have no idea why that is as I love her style of writing. The Silver Foxes stories for the over 40’s is a fabulous series of books that I have fallen in love with. Each book has left a smile on my face and Wine & Dine is no exception.
I particularly like that the characters are more mature than in the majority of books that I read. It is wonderful to read a series about characters who are not in their 20’s, so refreshing to be honest. Perhaps I appreciate these stories more because I am in my late 50’s and often it seems people forget that you are never too old to find love.
Dolores Chance and Garrett Fox were such a fabulous pairing, I loved them both individually and particularly as a couple. Dolores is in need of a holiday, so when her brother Denton suggest s she stay in his condo, the last thing on her mind is meeting the hot and oh so gorgeous Garrett who is the neighbour next door.
What starts off as slow and steady builds to a fabulous conclusion that had me riveted. Both Dolores and Garrett have issues that they need to overcome and in doing so, they open themselves up to the possibility of finding a lasting love.
Wine & Dine is a totally heart warming story that ticked all the boxers and had me smiling throughout.
One click this little gem, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Wine & Dine is the latest installment in LB Dunbar’s Silver Foxes series, and she has done it yet again! We do get to see some scenes with some of our favorite characters, Denton, Mati, and Magnolia – that woman’s spunk & humor had me laughing so hard … wait until you get to the Sock scene!! We got a glimpse of Ivy & Gage as well. Having said that, I cannot wait for Jimmy’s book!

In my opinion this one, it took a slightly different turn to her typical characters. In W&D, both Delores & Garrett are both very strong, independent successful business owners, and yet still broken. They come from very different worlds, heck they live on opposite ends of the country.

Overwhelmed with the grief of losing her mom, she takes her brother Denton’s offering (well push) of his car, cash, and credit card to take a road trip & stay at his condo in CA for as long as she needs.

“You’re not in Kansas anymore Dorothy”.

Even with the beautiful seaside view, she is a shell of a woman, depressed, sleeping a lot and not really living. Until one day when a smelly wet dog – Wally, literally bulldozes into her & lapping her up with dog kisses.

Garrett is Wally’s owner and he is completely attracted to this Hot Mess of a woman his dog just made smell gross. He tries to flirt with her, her sass doesn’t detour him, but rather turns him on. He’s not a relationship kind of guy, he doesn’t have a Heart. Unlike the ‘Tin Man’, he doesn’t want one either. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t partake in his fair share of intimacy with women. He’s about to make a move when she introduces herself as Denton’s sister. Screeeeeech, Emergency Stop, Skid Marks, because she is “Off Limits” .

He can see the dull look in her eyes, the lack of eating on her body, and knowing she’s lost her mom, he befriends her and tries to help her feel better about herself. He lies when he sets her up with a Personal Shopper at Nordstrom's & sets an appointment for her at the Salon. What he’s not prepared for is the end result. If he thought she was good looking before, she’s now “Stunning” .

They develop a true friendship, like neither of them, have ever experienced before. Both having had the ‘friends with benefits’ relationships in the past, they find that they want more than that with each other. However, their pasts, fears, & broken hearts are holding them back.

Their path down the ‘Yellow Brick Road’ is filled with so many emotions, some are healing & some are just painful. Is there a Wizard behind the Curtain in Emerald City, or is it just a myth?

“There’s no place like home … there’s no place like home...”

But for Delores & Garret where is home ... is it together ... is it in CA or GA?

4 Stars / 4 Steam Fans

This is an over 40 MC novel that was so good! Dolores and Garrett met after her mother dies, she runs away from her small town to her rockstar brother's condo in California, and a doggie attack. Here she interacts was Garrett as she finds herself. Garrett is rich but has a fear of commitment. The two of them have great sexual chemistry, frustrating insecurities, and a secondary cast that makes me want to know more.

This specific video review will be included in the July 2019 wrap-up.

What does Dorothy do when she's older and stuck in kansas?
does she still have the spunk to go on an adventure?
What if hope has dulled in her eyes and she needs a tin man or scarecrow or cowardly lion to show her that she always had the choice to change her destiny, she just didn't know it yet?
It's a sensitive Coming To realisation story of a woman lost in the ennui before she has even lived fully. To see a flower blooming, even a bit late, is a beautiful thing to watch and a story to read about
“Still searching for the ruby slippers, Dorothy,”he mocks, and it takes me a moment to register the reference.
“I get it."
“But the yellow brick road doesn’t always lead to the Emerald City. And Dorothy had the power to make decisions all along.”

So did Dolores!
She's aged before her years, too burdened with onus of her inheretance.  And frankly speaking, she never had a choice. Left to take care of the Diner & Magnolia, stuck in a rut in Blue Ridge in Georgia while Denton made his life.....what could she do except drag her feet along her dismal life.

description

She has Smarts, Heart & Courage, just needs to click her slippers and get going on the yellow brick road!!
Fate brings her to California and life starts to change.....
She bumps into Hollow Heart Tin-man and he changes along with her.
He’s no longer the Tin Man to my lost Dorothy, but a true Wizard, making dreams a reality.
LB has a perfectly captured the mature romance market with her innate knowledge of pitfalls and insecurities of advanced age sentiments.
I especially like how her characters have REAL problems of REAL life. Beats reading unrelatable HS romances any day!! Stunner Dolores and Confused Scarecrow Garrett Fox are so relatable and true to life, I could identify with both of them at all times.

description

This story in particular story starts on a sad and depressed note and then the clouds clear and hope shines through. Very subtle in moods and yet very steamy, it's like they both were making up for the lost times !!
I loved the sensibility and worldly attitude present throughout
Thank you LB for continuously churning out one smart book after the other.
3 cheers for Life After Forty !!!

I always enjoy LB Dunbar's books, but this one was probably my favorite. I loved it.

When 47 year old Dolores' mother dies, her brother sends her off to recharge in his condo on the beach in California. Here, she meets the hero of the story, Garrett Fox (age 50), who is her brother's neighbor and the absolute opposite of Dolores. She's the owner of a small town diner, and he's a rich businessman. She and Garrett both have a lot of baggage and because of this, neither of them really believe that a relationship is in the cards for them. They decide to be friends, knowing that their time together has an expiration date. Then they spend time together and all that goes right out the window.

I loved that I could really relate to Dolores--she's the same age as me and hasn't traveled much from the small town where she's spent her entire life taking care of others. I enjoyed watching her come into herself while she was spending time with Garrett and I really liked the push and pull of their relationship. Every time they got close emotionally, Garrett would seem to find a way to put some distance between them.
The pace and the way the relationship develops just felt very real to me and I loved that. I didn't feel like there was angst just for the sake of angst--it all felt very authentic.

I adored the Wizard of Oz references:
"I was lost."
"You just needed some time off, sweetheart. A trip over the rainbow."

Wally, the dog, was a sweet and funny addition to this book, as was Doloros' grandmother, Magnolia who gave me my favorite quote of the book--
"Nothing makes sense lately."
Magnolia: "Nothing ever does when you love someone. You'll do things you never thought you'd do and say things you never meant to say. You'll feel heartache like you've never felt before and joy like your heart might burst. And you'll never make sense of any of it. That's the great thing about love. It doesn't need to make sense. It just happens."

I always love when we get to revisit characters from previous books, as happens here, but if you haven't read any, you won't feel like you're missing out, as this is a complete stand-alone.

I hope LB Dunbar continues to give us more of these "romances for the over 40" because she's just amazing at them. They always seem to hit me right in the heart and leave me with a happy sigh and a smile on my face.

With her brother Denton back home after being away for decades, Dolores Chance is off to California for a well-deserved rest, courtesy of Denton in whose home she will stay. She needs that week alone to regroup, but had not anticipated Garrett Fox, her (gorgeous) next-door neighbour, to be there, nor his dog!

WINE & DINE is one of the most realistic contemporary romances I have ever read, because it's as simple and as complicated as life itself. I love that Dolores was a sexual woman, making do with what she had as true love had eluded her. She'd settled because she'd never had time to think of herself. This is a very emotional story; most of us have met a Dolores, she is familiar to us, women. There's a melancholy about Dolores, a loneliness, yet she never comes off as pathetic or helpless. She's that woman whose life has somehow passed her by, where nothing went exactly as planned, who never put herself first because there was always something that needed doing, someone who needed her. The woman who was never given a chance to blossom.

WINE & DINE is the latest in L.B. Dunbar's Sexy Silver Foxes/Former Rock Stars, and stands entirely on its own. I read After Care, and Midlife Crisis, the first two installments in the series, but not the others in between. I felt those two books were too similar, and I feared more of the same. Still I took a chance on WINE & DINE, and I'm glad I did. It is completely different, and I loved that Dolores and Garrett were so unlike the couples from the first two books. Dolores is no wishy-washy born again virgin; she's assertive but unsure if the future she had planned is what she really wants. Garrett is a welcome type of hero, and alas, the sort we seldom see in romances: he actually knows to back off, when to offer Dolores space; he is confident without being an arrogant jerk.

Both Garrett and Dolores are exceedingly complex characters and they experience tremendous growth as the story progresses. The romance unfolds gradually, and I loved that absolutely nothing was instantaneous. There are no miscommunication or misunderstandings, what conflicts there are occur organically. I loved the interactions between Dolores and her brother Denton, which are not precisely easy. Their relationship is complicated and in some ways still tentative; they're not used to being a family, and they have a lot to learn.

WINE & DINE is a very intelligent and adult novel, a romance with as much depth as women's fiction but with lots of sexy times. I thought the references to The Wizard of Oz particularly clever, and some moments really spoke to me: the classic movie It Happened One Night and the tango. There are a few typos, but nothing overly distracting. The only reason I am not giving this book the full 5 stars is that I felt the writing could have been more polished; I will assume the author was pressed for time. Finally, and this has nothing to do with the story or my rating, but I read with the white letters on the black background, and for most of the book, the letters were greyish, not white. In black on white, it was perfect. Of the three books I have read in this series, this is by far my favourite.

I give 4 1/2 stars

I have really enjoyed L.B Dunbar’s Sexy Silver Foxes series and Wine&Dine is no exception. Dunbar’s books and my reading tastes have crossed paths and we’re at a sweet spot where I am always looking forward to what she will publish next.

Wine&Dine is Dolores Chance’s story. We first met her in Second Chance. She’s a woman who works incredibly hard to remain independent but time, responsibility and admittedly, some apathy means she finds herself taking stock of her life and not liking what she sees. I think Dolores represents many women; that melancholy we feel when we look back and wonder why we gave up things we loved to do. And it’s not just the big things, but the small pleasures in life that have fallen away. She is tired; drained. How did it come to this? It can be quite a sobering experience.

With a firm push from her brother, Dolores takes the chance to leave her life behind and get out into the wider world. She wants to be a better version of herself, even not knowing what that is.

Enter Garrett Fox. He is more interested in building his bank balance than in building relationships. Like any 50 year old, he’s been shaped by life experience and while his attraction to Dolores is strong, learning to trust again will take a giant leap of belief.

I really savoured this relationship. As Dolores and Garrett reveal themselves little by little, I felt invested in their relationship. I was cheering them on because I could see how good they were for each other. And let’s not forget the physical attraction, folks. These two gave us some hot and steamy times!

I haven’t read all of Dunbar’s books but for me she has found a niche writing romances for older characters. I hope she continues to do so.

As always, LB Dunbar creates romance for us over 40 crowds that just wow you. When we last left Dolores in Second Chances, she was driving off. We all speculated who she would end up with when it came time for her story. The blurb will tell you that she didn't end up with who we expected her too, but am I disappointed? Not in the least because it also means that there will be more for us to come in this beautiful world of older men and women, everyone having their own crosses to bear, little bits of themselves that are broken and need mending and LB giving us beautiful happily ever afters. We know Dolores is just plain tired...she's had to keep up and hold her family together sometimes by sheer will alone. She soon finds out that taking that break is easier said than done. Meeting Garrett shows her that not only that the life as she knew it was stifling her but that in the end, she deserves so much more. Garrett has his own share of misgivings and demons to slay but when the two of them come together, there are beautiful fireworks indeed. "Incredible, insatiable and unbelieveable" are words that were often used in this story and they describe the story beautifully. I absolutely adored the Wizard of Oz references and the cameo's by some of her other characters (not tied to the over 40 crowd). The Tin Man is my current favorite book boyfriend and I defy anyone who tries to take him away from me!

Another fantastic read from the queen of over 40 romance, L.B Dunbar certainly knows what to give her fans in her romance for the over 40 series and Wine&Dine did not disappoint it’s was everything I have come to expect and so much more from this very talented author. Her silver fox stories are like a breath of fresh air and they really prove a point that love and smexy time’s are not just for our youth you can still have lots of fun even if you are over 40.........
Deloris is Denton’s sister and she is very much in need of some R&R time, she is overworked and feels very much under appreciated so when Denton packs her off to his California condo the last thing on her mind is getting involved with another man who is not interested in relationships but that was before she met Garrett the swoon worthy neighbour with an adorable puppy.....
Deloris hates dogs so why is this puppy so adorable maybe it’s his owner or maybe it’s the fact he knocked on her butt then proceeded to lick her to death. It may not be love at first sight for this couple but as they get to know each other they both realise maybe a relationship could be on the cards and maybe love is possible ......
I loved the journey this book took me on as Deloris and Garrett get to know each other, both have insecurities they need to get over but as I was along for this enjoyed ride I found myself connecting on every level with both of them. I smiled, I laughed, I swooned and I gasped throughout this great read and I highly recommend you one click this book. Looking forward to what comes next in what is becoming one of my all time favourite series.

Another stellar story by the Queen of Over 40 Romance!!!

I don't think Ms. Dunbar realizes how appreciative us "vintage" gals are with her #SexySilverFoxes stories.  It gives me a bit of validation that even though I am over 40, we can still feel the smexy times just like our younger compatriots!

This is Deloris' story! Denton's sister is overworked and under appreciated. She is settling with her lot in life. She gets a much needed opportunity to run away and focus on herself.  She takes advantage of that and runs! (Good for her!!)

Garrett Fox, this sexy silver fox is also settling with his lot in life.  He thinks he is happy with his world until he meets Deloris and sees just what he's missing.

I love the flow of this story, I could totally empathize with Deloris, she is strong, independent woman but also knows her vulnerabilities and has a dream of want she truly wants.  She is scarred and scared of the future and Garrett unwittingly and then forcefully helps her realize it.

I am hoping that with the introduction of some new characters we are going to see more spin offs and new stories from this series.  I am a huge fan of LB Dunbar's work! I had the opportunity to meet her and she is an absolute delight!

Readers can't go wrong with a LB Dunbar story, every time I read one I think there is no way I could love a couple more and then she makes me love a new one even harder! Garrett and Deloris are everything!

Dolores needs a break from her day to day life, especially after her brother Denton comes back into town after being away for 27 years and losing her mother. So when her brother offers up his California condo, she hesitantly accepts.

While in California, Dolores meets her brothers gorgeous neighbor, Garrett Fox. Garrett knows he shouldn’t get involved with his neighbor’s sister, but he also can’t resist her. The two of them are drawn to each other and the more time the begin to spend together the more that attraction builds.

I loved the chemistry between Dolores and Garrett. There were definitely some hot moments between the two of them throughout the story. They both had their own insecurities when it came to being in a relationship, but they are amazing at constantly being there for each other and reassuring each other. Garrett is one swoon worthy silver fox when it comes to how sweet, kind and romantic he is. Plus, the man likes his toys in the bedroom.

This story can be read as a standalone, however, I feel like you get a lot more from it when it comes to the side characters and some of Dolores’s background if you’ve read Second Chance, which is Denton’s story.

Definitely a MUST READ book.

Dolores Chance is a strong heroine. She is the kind of person who is care taker for all and ignores her own needs. But when she is sort of forced to step back and think of herself, she lands crash into Garrett Fox (or rather, his dog) Incredible!

“Do you know how I feel about you?
Can you hear my heart beating for the first time in a long time?
Does the rhythm of yours match mine?”

Garrett tells himself he will keep his distance from this “off limits”, temporary neighbor but resistance is futile and their connection is unavoidable, indescribable!

“I’ve lost the game. She wins. She can take my body and my soul; she owns my heart. The one I didn’t think I had to give.”

Wine & Dine is the fifth book in the Sexy Silver Foxes series. All of the books can be read as standalones with some mention of characters from previous books. It is a great series for those of us looking for more mature characters that we can relate to.

My first time reading LB Dunbar and I enjoyed reading about her characters , mature & sophisticated yet the spirit of a much younger person. Dolores Chance is having a midlife crisis after burying her mother, her only brother returns to their small town to help her, give her a break from the last twenty years of taking care of both their parents. They switch places she heads out to California and he stays in Georgia taking care of their grandmother and Dolores diner. What could possibly go wrong? Well your going to have to read it to find out.

First of all: I love it 😍

When we last got a glimpse of Dolores in 'Second Chance' (Denton + Mati), she was already on her way to California, to have a few days off of life. Dolores owns a diner. She's not overly successful, but she's her own boss and not dependent on anyone. Years ago she "lost" her brother Denton to his career and now she has to overcome another loss, her mother. She's on her own now and a little bit depressed and very sad. She needs some time to find herself. She starts searching in California.

Well, Garrett Fox lives in California (Denton's neighbor) and is also his own boss, but he's much more successful than Dolores. That doesn't make him less unhappy. And then he meets his new short-time neighbor and suddenly he knows exactly what he was missing all the time.

Oh dear! With every book L.B. Dunbar writes it gets better and better and hotter and hotter 🔥! The attraction between Dolores and Garrett is unbelievable. The storyline is unique, the characters are absolutely amazing and credible, the writing is more than great and I really, really beg you all to read this book (and all of her other books).

When your over forty it seems your life can only get better. Dolores Chance has been stuck in a rut and there seems to be no getting out, taking care of her mother, her grandmother and her business but when your brother comes back and tells her to go and take a break she doesn’t hesitate but what she never expects is to meet Garrett Fox.
Garrett Fox is a very successful business man, living what he thinks is his best life, but when he encounters Dolores in the oddest of places he realizes maybe he’s not.
As you watch the two of them feel the other out you can’t help know that if they let down their guard they can have the best time together and be just what the other needs.

Well L.B. has done it again! Another amazing story with another couple you can’t help but fall in love with! Dolores is a very independent woman who has held her family together for a very long time! She’s finally able to runaway to try and figure out what she really wants out of her life. In comes smelly Wally ;) and his definitely not smelly owner Garrett. Garrett is yummy! Garrett & Dolores have such great chemistry right from the beginning, they are drawn together even if it’s only as friends... they think. This is a must read! There is no way that you won’t be pulled right into this story!

Dolores has had a hard time of it when her brother nudges her into taking him up on his offer of his condo, his car and his credit card, so she can take a much-needed break. Dolores had been taking care of their mom for years now, while Denton (her brother) was off touring the world and becoming a rockstar. So now he is feeling guilty (rightfully so) and decides to give Dolores the time she needs to recuperate. When Denton's neighbor's dog literally runs into her, it's the start of a beautiful thing between Garrett Fox and his Dorothy (Dolores). Or it could be, if these two broken people can allow each other in.

I confess that I haven't liked all of L.B. Dunbar's romances for the over 40 set, but I loved Wine&Dine. Garrett and Dolores are layered and substantial, and their chemistry is FIRE! I love how their story played out, how the playboy was brought to his knees by a very, very special woman. And she was special, so special. In fact, she was my favorite part of this story aside from Wally, the matchmaking dog 🐶❤ I love how strong she is, and how she slowly let Garrett into her life and her heart. If all of L.B. Dunbar's coming romances for the over 40 end up being this great, I will be reading them all!

What a Fox!

L.B. Dunbar does it again..ties me to my Kindle while reading her latest chapter in the Over 40, Sexy Silver Foxes series. When I see one of these books is coming out soon, I count down the days until I can finally get my hands on it!

In Second Chance, when we last were in Blue Ridge, Georgia, former rocker, Denton Chance, finally found his happiness after coming back to town and reconnecting with his high school crush. Since he's been gone, his slightly older sister, Dolores, has been running herself ragged for for as long as she can remember. She's been left alone for years to care for her sick mother, her precious grandmother and everyone else but herself all while working in and managing her own business..a diner. The Magnolia Diner has seen better days and so has Dolores, with her ratty hair and baggy clothes, she looks older than her 47 years.

After their mother passes away, Denton encourages Dolores to take the keys to his sweet Mustang, his credit card and sends her off to his beachfront condo in California for as long as she needs while he holds down the fort. Roadtrip!!!! She peals out of that town and away she goes, not looking back.

She is soooo tired, missing her mom and in need of some major down time. Add in a little wine, some walks on the beach and oh, one last wish, to be blissfully alone!

She won't be having much peace on that walk after a huge, slobbery dog comes charging out of nowhere and knocks her down while his horrified, sexy owner tries not to laugh too hard!

Here is that neighbor her brother warned her to stay far away from..womanizer, gorgeous player with his loud overnight guests...no thank you. Garrett Fox may commanding and hot, but Dolores is not impressed..yet!

There are the only 2 condos in this building- his and Denton's..makes it very hard to miss this guy. BUT, as they spend more time together, they discover how much fun they're having, so they find ways to keep doing just that. One thing leads to another as Garrett brings Dolores into his more glamorous world, working his way under her skin and into her heart. Is she alone in these feelings? A man like him wouldn't find her attractive, would he? Can the player who had his heart broken to bits years before face these new feelings after all these years alone?

What a story! In the magical California sunshine, Dolores is restored and transformed and slowly comes back to life but can this newfound happiness last as home calls her back?

L.B. Dunbar makes silver sexy again, as she always manages to do, with funny, wish you were there moments, encounters with some foxes from previous books, page turning, steamy excitement for the often neglected older romance seekers and maybe some happy tears along the way.

Hope the wait for Giant's story is short and sweet and we end up back in Georgia sooner rather than later! Recomend this one🥰!!!

I just love these over 40 themed books and may I say L B Dunbar writes them superbly. Her Silver Fox series is one of my very favorites a must read if you like this genre. Wine and Dine, like the others in this series, has strong characters that know their minds and what they want out of life (or so they think).

Dolores is Denton’s sister. (We met her in Denton’s story: Second Chance). When Denton took off from home at a young age, Dolores was left to deal with her disaster for parents, her aging grandmother and the family diner. Now that her parents have died, it's become apparent to her just how tired she really is and how much her life is stuck in a rut. So when Denton offers her a vacation at his California Condo, she take a wild chances and says yes. For once in her life doing something for herself.

Garrett is a self made successful businessman who has the world by the tail. He has good looks, money, women, a fast car and a condo on the beach, which happens to be right next door to Denton’s. He isn’t looking for anything else, especially not a relationship as he’s been burned before and has learned from his mistakes. But when his dog, accidently knocks down a woman standing of the beach, he’s taken by surprise at the attraction he feels. As for the woman, Dolores, she is wowed by his looks but fuming at his dogs antics and the man’s attempt at what this small town girl can only assume is California charm. Garrett is used to getting things easily, especially women, so when the hot mess he met on the beach doesn’t seem interested, the challenge is on. Little does he know this small town feisty gal just may make him rethink what’s important in his life while teaching her life can be more that just settling for what is.

From here the storyline takes off and will take you emotions on a fabulous ride. The book is very well written and the characters and their actions are so defined you will right there in the moments with them. Kudos Ms. Dunbar for giving us a romantic, sexy, exciting, emotional storyline that warmed my heart and had me smiling throughout. 2 Huge Thumbs Up and 5 romantic stars for Wine & Dine.

This book is absolutely a stand alone book but I highly recommend reading Second Chance before reading this one because otherwise you may very well be confused about some of the characters that are mentioned and their relationships. We meet Delores and Garret in this one. Delores has come to her brother's condo in California in order to get away and figure out where exactly her life is going. She never expects someone like Garret to be there. Especially when she feels like everything is falling apart. Garret promised his neighbor he would show his sister around while she was in town. He never expects Delores to be someone he would find so fascinating. Or to be someone who may get around his hard and fast rules when it comes to relationships.

I absolutely loved this story!! Delores has been through a lot in her life and put up with a lot. But she is definitely one of the strongest women that you will ever meet. Even when she breaks, she still manages to move forward. Garret has issues not only with things that happened when he was a child but also something as an adult, so you can perfectly understand his hesitancy. But because he isn't completely stupid, he manages to work out what he really wants and work towards it. I loved them! I loved how they came to be, how they talk with each other, how they just manage to joke with each other! That is half the battle in any relationship and just made it more real to me. And then you throw in some side characters that make me want to know their stories as well? That is the way to keep me reading and wanting more every time!!

No Dorothy, you aren't in Kansas anymore....
Delores takes that leap and hits the road with her brother Dentons car, plastic and cash and heads to Cali - she needs to grieve the loss of her mother, she needs to blow off some steam, regroup and become Delores again. Little does she know the Tin Man lives next door to her brother, Garrett Fox had me swooning...and I loved Wally instantly...especially when he first meets Delores! So funny!! We get more of Magnolia - funny ol' gal with a quick tongue.

I loved these two - they are both independent, strong, characters. I was a bit nervous about Delores' story, just with the way that Second Chances ended...ok...I was more than a bit nervous BUT only because I had no idea what L.B. Dunbar had in store for us readers. I should have known better, I should have known that L.B. Dunbar would not disappoint.

I devoured Wine & Dine on a plane ride from the East Coast to Las Vegas....very enjoyable read and I can't wait to see what L.B. Dunbar has in store for us next!

Dolores needs a break. She’s been holding the family business together for most of her adult life. In walks Denton, her long lost Rockstar brother, with a plan. Before she knows it she’s flying across the country and dipping her toes in the sand. Meeting the gorgeous neighbor, Garret Fox wasn’t in her plan.

Garret Fox is the quintessential bachelor. No sending dates, never take them home and can’t make a promise past tonight.

Ms. Dunbar has created an over 40 love story that draws you in from the first page and keeps you turning those pages until the end.

There’s heartbreaking pasts, trying to cone to terms with forgiveness and steamy sex all the way through this compelling story. You will laugh, cry and want to kick both of them and a few others from time to time but through it all you will feel their pain, experience their happiness and well, pray you find your own Garret.

The flow of the story is on point. Each chapter gives you insight into who these characters are and why they seem to sometimes take two steps forward and then three steps back.

Ms. Dunbar has given us another amazing read that’ll you’ll want to have one clicked today.

Wine and Dine is about a Sexy Silver Fox and I know that it’s an over 40 romance, but really I think anyone of any age can relate to what our heroine, Dolores, is going through. I mean, most of us have experienced a time in our lives when it all got to be too much and we just wanted to get away, right? Lucky for Dolores, she has little brother, Denton hand her the keys to his ride and condo in Cali. Road Trip!

While contemplating her life on the beach, she meets the neighbors. Garrett and his dog, Wally. Their amazing story is told in the excellent words that L.B. Dunbar has given us. We get to relish as both Dolores and Garrett realize that aspects of what they thought their lives were, are upended and both get what they need.

Truly, this book was one of the most satisfying stories that I have had the pleasure of reading. L.B. Dunbar continues to provide blissful entertainment. 5 Stars #2OCCMS

Following hot on the heels of Denton and Mati’s story, Second Chance, Wine & Dine tells Dolores’ story.

Denton’s sister is worn down by life. She nursed her dying mother, cares for her grandmother, the inimitable Magnolia, and runs the local diner.

Denton persuades her to leave town on a long overdue vacation and spend some time at his home in California. Reluctantly, she agrees after Denton promises to look after things while she’s gone.

In California she meets Denton’s neighbour, Garrett Fox. He’s smart, successful and as hot as hell. Everything Dolores feels that she is not. The ensuing story sees Garrett take Dolores under his wing, overseeing her makeover, making sure she’s taking care of herself. Friendship blooms, then grows into something more.

The development of their relationship is a joy to read. The way Garrett struggles with his developing feelings, how Dolores feels unworthy of such flattering attention - it’s awkward, adorable, painful and as hot as hell. This couple really are wonderful characters.

LB Dunbar really has hit a rich vein of form with her over-40 romances. Each one is better than the last, and the fact that she manages to weave in cameo appearances of characters from her other books is the cherry on top of this delicious cake. I can’t get enough of these silver foxes.

L.B. Dunbar has another Sexy Silver Fox hit on her hands with Wine & Dine! If you love a steamy over 40 romance than this book is perfect for you. She knows how to write characters that are relatable within stories that are believable and books you don’t want to put down.
Love can happen at anytime and at any age, usually when you least expect it. For both Garrett and Delores that is exactly what happens.
There is nothing as sweet as watching a man who has sworn off love fall hard and nothing as beautiful as seeing a woman who never realized she deserves love and so much more finally allow herself to believe. And the frosting on the cake is when they both open up their hearts and let the love flow and find their happiness at the end of the rainbow.

My favorite quote from the book:
“Can you hear my heart beating for the first time in a long time? Does the rhythm of yours match mine?”
