Federal Paranormal Unit World

Can You Protect Them

Rate this book
He was an ordinary guy, who had unusual desires, ones that would dub him a serial killer. Unlike most, he decided to act on his whims. The media dubbed him the Professor, it fit. He was determined to learn new things, stuff others would balk at. The Cops and FBI upped the bets when they caught his trail.
Detective Remington Conahan was a little jaded and a lot dedicated. When the first body is found, he is called because everyone knows he will give her the justice she deserves. No one's life is worthless to him.
Grayson Knox is the newest member to join the Federal Paranormal Unit. When he gets a call from an old friend that a witch was killed and there is a threat of a new serial killer, he agrees to help with the investigation. What he didn't expect to find was a man who made him lose sight of why he was here.
When evil masquerades as a regular man and travels the country, can anyone protect them?

Whew...where is my fan and my blanket to hide under LOL. This book will creep you out like watching a great horror movie and make your an yourself with the chemistry between Knox and Remi. The way the Professor keeps taunting them and trying new things .... awesomely creepy. I could not stop reading this book. And, it’s a perfect addition to the Federal Paranormal Unit.

Uh oh. I think that this book could use another sweep by editor. I’m not usually picky about editing, my main concern being the story, but in this case mistakes distracted me from the story, at least in the beginning. It did affect my impression of the book and the rating.

It’s appropriately gruesome and has bad guy’s POV which is chillingly insane. I could easily see what this book wanted to be. It’s reminiscent of cop shows with a paranormal twist. There is serial killer, a cop determined to catch him and federal agent who might be either help or nuisance.
The romance plot was a bit rushed and I didn’t see spark between characters, but they were interesting and the plot was engaging enough to keep me reading. It’s a pity there wasn’t more about Grayson, since Remington felt more complete than he. It kept the romance part off balance.

The paranormal part is take or leave it. It doesn’t have any bearing on the story, so I’m assuming it plays a part in future books, but here it was superfluous. But it is unusual and certainly adds unique flavor to the book.

I think editing is my main complaint. It could be a good story, just needs more polishing.

I received copy of this book in exchange for review.

The Professor, as he was known in the media, is an ordinary guy with unusual desires that dub him as a serial killer. The name fits well as he was determined to learn new things even if they were what others would baulk at. Detective Remington Conahan is very determined and experienced so it called as soon as the first body turns up because they know he will give her the justice she deserves. Grayson Knox is a new member in the Federal Paranormal Unit and gets a call because the person killed was a witch and so he agrees to help. What he didn't expect to find was a man who made him lose sight of why he was there. When evil masquerades as a regular man and travels the country, can anyone protect them?

I loved this story which traced the Professor character and his sick thought processes as he went across the country killing innocent people as part of his learning. I loved the relationships between the law enforcement character and how open it seemed to be about sexuality. The way that the relationship between Remi and Greyson developed and the teasing banter between them. Definitely contains explicit M:M sexual content.

CAN YOU PROTECT THEM is the first book in the Federal Paranormal Unit series. Each is meant to stand on its own. Because I liked SAVE A HORSE from Jennifer Wedmore, I chose to pick up this book. I was not disappointed.

It was fun looking at the story from the minds of both the police and the serial killer. It was kept on the lighter side, while still being creepy. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but these authors managed it. I’ll give you an example, the romance between Knox and Conahan kept things from being too scary, but the Professor was taunting them with that same romance. That just added to the creep factor.

I absolutely would love to read more from this series or these authors.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Very Intense, makes ya think

Don't think I wanna run into these authors in a dark alley somewhere. (JK...love ya) Wow, the deep thought they seem to delve into the mind of a serial killer for the cops to break the case.

I enjoyed that not only did we get to feel the story from the mind of the killer, but also the emotions of the cops. I felt like I could have been right there during the investigation into the murders and while they were on the way to solve them.

I thought the authors did an excellent job of bringing us readers into the story. Great job!!!

I loved this story!

The mind of a serial killer is a crazy thing. The Professor's mind is no exception. The way he rationalizes each kill is truly scary. The way he is UBER respectful to the victims afterwards adds to the scare factor. Add a paranormal romance between the investigating officers and you have a book you truly can't put down. I found myself continously turning the page to see if the officers were getting closer to the perp and if their love interest blossomed. I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys reading MM romances!

This was simultaneously disturbing and hot as hell. The first chapter made me a bit queasy, but once I got past that I loved this read! I enjoy crime dramas and the sexy love connection in the midst of trying to solve the case was a welcome bonus to that. I really enjoyed the characters, again the killer was a bit too much for me in the very beginning but was less nauseating after his first kill. It was entertaining to read how he devolved and lost control. The FPU sounds intriguing and I look forward to reading more.

This book kicks ass.

Seriously, this book digs literacy claws into your mind and hold tight. From the first page this book slams into your imagination. The characters are wonderfully real and the plot keeps them that way. With a book blurb that gives you enough detail, without spoilers, this novel will provide a five star literary escape to anyone interested.

I loved the story, the emotive connections and the characters.

Highly recommended, by me.

I had forgotten that this series is also smoking hot as well as wicked action packed and with psychological thriller elements

Great to meet Theo Granger again, but wild to meet the god known as Knox

The agent and detective made a great team, not only in finding the killer they were hunting- they balance each other out personally and professionally

Ready to check out other books I might have missed in this butt kicking paranormal adventure series!

It's honestly hard to find the words to say how good this book was without spoiling it for readers. Filled with suspense, romance, and a touch of horror, I couldn't put it down. The mind of the Professor is both unique and creepy at the same time. I loved the dynamic between Knox and Remi and found myself invested in their relationship just like the Professor. While some scenes gave me chills, others had me laughing out loud. Truly a unique read that I utterly enjoyed.

He was a normal guy but he had strange desires which could mean trouble for him in the end. A death occurs and they are called in to investigate the crime. When they meet a connection is made and they may just lose sight of what they must do. What is going on? Who is he? Is he a killer? Will they finally see a monster in front of them? See if they will

Meet the Professor.
I picked up this book some time ago on Booksprout and really loved it. The characters were great. I enjoy paranormals a great deal and this one with a serial killer was out of sight. It was a bit complex but yet the author did put a lighter spin on the piece. I must admit I felt like I was right in the middle of all the events I love when I can get lost in a tale. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is an intriguing story with a cast of strong characters. The author does a great job pulling you into the story with all the thrilling events and murder mystery as well as the romance. I enjoyed the way the author presented the story with the telling from both the serial killer and the police. It's a well written book with perfectly painted scenes, moves fluidly and is a great read.

I must say this is not the ususal book genre for me. I absolutely loved it. The characters were well developed and had such great interactions. The psychopath's scenes were well written and thankfully not to graphic. I love the MM stories and this one was so strong, sexy and full of humor and scarsm. I can't wait for next book and I hope Bas and Skagg's get their story.

An intriguing read full of mystery, in-depth detail of a psychopath’s mind (kind of scary really) and the process undertaken to catch a bad guy by the relevant authorities. Throw in a hint of paranormal characteristics, a little romance and a lot of heat and an awesome story is devised by Co-authors Sheri Lyn and Jennifer Wedmore.

This book was filled with suspense, romance, and a touch of horror, and I couldn't put it down. The Professor is so creepy and the fact that he is obsessed with Knox takes that creepy level to the extreme. I loved Remi and can not wait to read more about the Federal Paranormal Unit members.

I'm so disappointed. The premise was so good and it fell through.
The characters were promising but the bad guy turned out to have the most depth. The editing got worse throughout the story and the actual story was almost split in three: a porn part, a rushed and shallow investigation, and an almost painfully detailed description of the bad guys actions and reasoning.

There is a pyschopath on the loose. Will Remi and Knox be able to stop him before his body count is to high? Will they be open to something more between them?

Loved the steam between these two! I loved how both characters were able to work together and help each other when it came to solving the clues. Loved seeing these two bond and form the start of a lasting relationship. Good read!

Two detectives desperately search for a serial killer. One an Alabama detective and one a paranormal professional. It is a page turner as I kept hoping the killer would not follow through (he did and it was more and more horrific). .
