I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.
I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.
My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.
Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

I really struggled to get into this, because like others have mentioned in their reviews, I too haven't read any of the Oriceran books (which I only found out about after reading said reviews - it would have been nice to know they existed before picking up this book. Perhaps it should be mentioned in the blurb). And so I was lost in a whole new world without a map. I kept re-reading sections thinking I'd missed an explanation and it made the whole narrative seem disjointed and shallow because I had no idea what they were referring to. There is a frustrating lack of background info and details. I have questions, dammit! Really need some kind of prologue, introduction or appendix with background explanation to give context if the author can't work details into the narrative and wants to avoid infodumps. I did eventually finish, and the story itself isn't bad. Sadly, this book just wasn't for me. Even near the end, when I had a grasp of the basics, I was still not really enjoying it. A bit too much of a Fantasy James Bond for my taste, with descriptions of weapons etc that just don't interest me and so got skimmed a lot. I did like Diana as a character and Rath was cute. I would like to see more of them, but don't know if I want to read more about special agents or the mysterious Oricerans.
Threw a gun at a suspect. To hit him. Who does this? The Keystone Cops? James Comey? No professional would seriously do this. 10 pages in and I'm out. DNF
This book was hard to follow, the main char while not a mary sue still felt like it. Through out the book the main char is suppose to have ptsd however it never feel like it from the readers perspective, it just feel like she is a bad ass that does not so bad ass things all the time, the plot was unclear and murky and the events of the book did manifest into a tangible story. If it was not for the recaps of the support char having to tell the boss what happens on their missions I would not have known what was going on.
Their magic in this story felt more like powers (x-men vs Dresden files) this book felt alot more like x-men and while that does not inherently bother me I feel mislead by the tilted, the world building around the magic makes little to no senses and is not really explained, apparently(at least I found this out when trying to figure out why this book has so many stars, this book is in the same universe as some of the other book from the author(s). However due to the fact that this was not in plane sight I can only assume that the authors thought that it was not mandatory reading to enjoy this book. I think they are wrong.
The worst thing however was that this book was just boring, I don't feel any connection to the charters because they are all perfect ideal apex humans and they don't seem to have flaws. The book is kinda like a job interview where they ask you what some of your weakness are and you say "I am to committed to my work".... Well done ass hole. The sad thing is if the perspective and writing was better you really could spin that off as a flaw. And they try, it just feels hollow. I found it hard to emotionally enjoy the ride.
I got about 20% of the way through this book before I forgot that I spent money on it and then lost all interest in finishing it.
Magic Ops is a book about a sci-fi United States that, with the human world, are magical creatures and federal agencies who are more secret than the FBI. I liked aspects of the plot but didn't realize this was part of a larger world. The truth I believe the only character I truly enjoyed is Rath, the troll. Especially the interaction he has with Max, the dog that Diane adopts. The truth Magic Ops gets from me 2.5-stars not my cup of tea; sci-fi is a hit or miss for me.
A fun romp through a world of hidden magic and secret agents. Welcome to BAM. Here’s your anti-magic gun, some kick-ass boots and one size changing fuzzy troll. Enjoy.
This is a great first novel set in the same world as the Brownstones, an Earth connected to another planet which is based on magic. Diana Sheen, an FBI agent, is recruited to join a black-ops organization to fight bad guys with magic. Each agent in the group has some form of magic. Diana does, too, but she is ambivalent toward its use. On her first mission, she discovers her magic is stronger than she thought and evolving. She is also adopted by a young troll who chooses the name Rath. I enjoyed the book and I think you will too!
I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but I'm glad I stuck with it!! The characters are GREAT and the action even better. I'm chomping at the bit for number 2. This is going to be a favorite of mine, so start pumping them out. I'm saddened that the next book isn't out yet, but I'm gladdened that the next story will be out SOON! Thank you all for a super story that I will read again and again. Looking forward to the next book NOW.
Diana, Trent, Rath and Max. Four unforgettable characters who make up the adventures and ass kicking of bad guys in this book. Sure, Rath is a troll and Max is a dog, but they bring the pain of justice to those who would break the law.
This book is a fantastic start to what I believe will be a series filled with discovery, magic, humor and bad assery. Hang on. It is going to be a fun and wild ride!
Love the characters, especially Rath and Max. "We are the law." Well written good guys versus the bad guys. They have special toys reminiscent of James Bond. Training is a must for all team members. Great action and surprises. Nice clean book good for all ages.
This book was great, finished it in one sitting. Great characters, fast-paced, fun humorous and a lot of action. All the characters are likable. The book does not suffer from slow Ness like most origin stories do it’s a homerun as far as I’m concerned, eagerly awaiting the next book
What an awesome new series in the Oriceran Universe! I absolutely LOVED this book! It's got a kickass female lead and a full cast of quirky, lovable characters. There's drama, suspense, and thrills galore. Best of all, there's magic! Keep churning out the awesome stories TR!
Originally ordered the book because of the front cover. Once I started reading the book I had to continue until it was finished. Good thing I’m retired(lol). Can’t wait to read the next book.Fell in love with Rath and Max and can’t wait to find out who else joins the team in Pittsburgh.
Seriously, this book contains unlimited action, a kick-ass heroine, snarky humor, a troll (who thinks he's Rambo!) and SO much more! I will definitely recommend it for anyone who likes drama, action and mystery! TR Cameron writes a strong female lead better than other, more prolific male authors!
It was a great read. Combining modern agencies, such as FB with the magic agency .The characters are very believable even with the magic. Rath the troll and max the dog add a lot of fun. The author collaboration is excellent. I'm on to the next book.
Policing magical bad guys is tricky and hard so a woman needs an edge...and friends! Diana Sheen is up for the job and when she is adopted by a Troll she takes it in stride. Little does she know how much help a Troll can be, especially one who learns all the moves from martial arts and action movies!. Come along for the thrill.
I very much enjoyed this new addition to the Oriceran universe. The characters are all great and I really like Max and Rath. They are good buddies and add fun and humor to the story. I can't wait for the next book.
I love this book. It is fantastic to have female heroines and ass kicking trolls and an awesome breed of dog. A new twist, a new author, and so much excitement. Great job and keep them coming.
Transitioning from the FBI to the magical side, Diana is learning to expand her magic. Taking down bad guys with her partner Bryant, and her little troll Rath. Action packed, with a touch of humor, this is must read for fans of Oriceron !!
A great new series to enjoy, with action and adventure. Great characters with lots of snarky dialogue and room to expand the cast of characters. I look forward to more from this series 😁
These kickass and endearing characters, action and adventure all in imaginative plots are extremely entertaining. I don't want to spoil the experience with too much info, but the sidekicks are phenomenal. Enjoy!
Another new series in the Oriceran u inverse, and I love it! Ive fallen in love with Rath and cannot wait to see what is in store for Diana et al in Agents of Mayhem.
A fine romp in the traditions of MC and MA. Definitely a new series worth following... although it might need some more gratuitus cursing to keep up eith the psck. We'll see 😆
Perhaps needed to read some of the other Oriceran books first as at times i felt a little lost. However, loved Diane, Rath and Max. Also stiletto boots that are weaponised, these should be marketed straight away. Liked it enough to get the next book in the series
Well written characters, lots of action and a funny new TROLL! What more could you ask for in a book? Good story with lots of possibilities for the future.
