Then He Happened
He doesn’t take life seriously.
He doesn’t believe in settling down.
Eileen's twenty-seventh birthday is almost here.
But as always she's an afterthought in her parent’s minds.
Her family is too busy planning a shotgun wedding for her older sister to pay attention to her. And now she has to help.
It’s just another year where she’s overlooked.
Then He Happened is Jason and Eileen's story. If you have read Maybe Later you were introduced to Jason. He is Jack's brother.
Jason's past has molded him into the person he is today. He was dealt a crap hand at love in the past and was literally left to deal with the damage and fall out by himself.
Eileen, oh this girl! I could so empathize with her plight. She is the poster child o ...more
Jason is a gorgeous, sexy man with a wicked sense of humor. He has golden heart that broke years back and the cracks are still here. He no longer believes in love and marriage. Enter Eileen. The sassy, adorable, whimsical, cheerful, infuriating, compassionate woman is breaking his walls. But she has o ...more
The writing, the characters and the plot line... Just horrible.
Everything about this book is unbearable!
The heroine has an awful family and they treat her like crap and because she is a doormat, she lets them treat her so badly.
The hero is another story. Because once he was left at the altar, he becomes a man-wh*re and treats women like shit. He is unlikable for me, as well.
I don't know if they are going to make a good couple or not but I really don't care; most of the ...more
STD (sexually transmitted disease)
or 'he' as
STI (sexually transmitted infection)???
Couldn't make it even halfway through. I hated the hero's POV straight away, and with dual perspective being iffy for me anyway, if I don't like the male 'voice' it's pretty much a deal breaker. I was done before the first chapter ended, but I did try before tapping out.
I just can't with this writer - with most of them recently, if I'm honest. Too many disappointing reads have lowered my tolerance for anything I don't care for.
I met Jason Spearman when I read his brother Jack's book, Maybe Later, there was something about him then that let me know he was hurt beyond repair but that was before he met Eileen. Poor Eileen, she really drew the short straw when it came to family. She is the middle child which is constantly neglected and overshadowed b ...more
Claudia Burgoa is a relatively new author to me. Then He Happened was well written and had me engaged from the first chapter. I really loved Jason and Eileen, both separately and together, they really do make a great couple.
Eileen’s family are not nice, in fact if I were her I would disown them and write them off. The banter and humour between Eileen and Jason was at times hilarious and I found myself smiling often, it just made me happy and a ...more
But enough about Charlie because everyone talks about Charlie. Let's talk about...what's her name again!?! I'm kidding but I get the distinct impression her family might not rememb ...more
Jason and Eileen met under unusual circumstances. Jason’s cousin (Marek) and Eileen’s sister (Charlie) who are both irresponsible and immature discover they are pregnant and need to get married quickly. Neither one of them have a penny to their name and of course it’s Jason and Eileen’s resp ...more
There were allot of things I really enjoyed about this story. Firstly strong lead characters. Eileen is loyal, caring and so giving towards those she loves. I loved seeing the evolution of her character and she proves herself to be quite tough and capable.
Jason is confident, loud and energetic however we soon se ...more
When it happened is a slow friends to lovers romance. Jason and Eileen meet when they are brought together planning and funding the wedding of Jason’s cousin Marek and Eileen’s spoilt horrid sister Charlie. Jason and Eileen were both so kind and understanding towards the bridal couple as well as Eileen’s parents despite the cruel and selfish way they treated her. I struggled to find any good in Charlie and her parents.
I did love the flirty and fun banter between Jason and Eileen ...more
"Rule number one of being Jason Spearman. You don't develop crushes."
So, we have Jason Spearman who is relationship-shy after having had his heart broken. However, there's no mistaking how caring he really is when it comes to his family. We also have Eileen McBean, who is almost an afterthought to her family. She's the middle child and works hard to be seen. Yet, she is the responsible one and everyone looks to her to be the fixer of all things. ...more
This is the second rom-com story that Claudia Burgoa has written, and what can I say—I LOVED IT!!! This is definitely one of the greatest ones I have read so far. It is fun, witty banter, embarrassingly hilarious situations, lots of steeeamy romance, and moments of heartbreak. I found myself at times laughing so hard and other times using profanity at one character that my husband thought I had lost it a bit.
Jason Spearman is a very hand ...more
This second book in the Spearman brothers series (at least I think it’s a series) concentrates on Jason Spearman, Jack’s younger brother. Jason has built a huge wall around his heart after his fiancee crushed it. He’s jaded and would rather play the field than make the “commitment” mistake again. His interest is peaked when he meets Eileen, his cousin, Marek’s future sister-in-law. They are roped into planning a shotgun ...more
Then He Happened is a standalone story, however, it follows the brother of a character we get to meet in the book Maybe Later. In Maybe Later we get Jackson and Emmaline's story and we get introduced to Jason. In Then He Happened, we get Jason's story but Jackson and Emmaline are mentioned multiple times. Because of this I was happy that I had already read Maybe Later because it helped me enjoy the story that much more since I had a connection with the characters.

Then He Happened is an interesting and entertaining rom/com about two people who are forced together in order to help out their family members. When Eileen's high maintenance, self-centered sister Charlie decides to throw a last minute shotgun wedding to Jason's unmotivated, childish cousin Marek, it is all hands on deck. Except, par for the course with Eileen's family, all of the preparations are thrust on Eileen. When Jason offers to help Eileen with the decisions, they embark on a funny yet h...more
Aww this book was just so special.
Oh Eileen, she kept getting her heart broken over and over again. She didn't get it broken by men. No she kept getting it broken by those who should make everything better: Her family. These people were all time jerks. Jerks who expected Eileen to fix everything. She was always put on the back burner, pushed away into the shadow of her sister Charlie. The sister who mes ...more
