What a GREAT series!! So very glad I stumbled upon this at my library. It's been awhile since I've been so immersed in a series that I'm going from book to book without being able to put it down!! Absolutely wonderful storytelling. There's mages and giants and evil and good and oh my!! Add a little bit of love interest (not too much, because I hate romances) and I have been absolutely besotted. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy and magic. I'm in the middle of the second book now, and still gripped!

*Sigh*

I have been taught by my grandmother to only speak in a positive manner. She said "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all." Yes ma'am. I shall pass on book two(2).

The author has created an interesting world where magic is real, and into which the protagonist slips. In so doing, he shifts from being a sleight-of-hand magic shop owner to someone with actual, and powerful magical skills. Unfortunately, the magic comes and goes without rhyme or reason. Training does not help him, so he is left to face evil with crossed fingers and hope. I did like that main character, but found his development and therefore that of the book to be disjointed.

Low 3

Some things about it I liked but other things bothered me. A few points seemed especially obvious and blatant. The MC had power then no power then sudden amazing power that didn't really require he work for anything. It was too convenient and not logical enough in those points. Finally it ends on a huge blatant hook for the next book, which I will not be looking for.

Great writing with characters that get stupid

Decent characters that draw you in mixed into a fairly well done plot.
Sadly there are portions of this where the MC and associates suddenly drop all pretense regarding tactics and drop into a “stupid zone”. This left me shaking my head.
Read the Next book? Highly unlikely.

A Very good read

A well written story with excellent character development and a storyline that is not what you think. Although multidimensional stories are not my favorite,I it's very well done.

Interesting story.

An interesting story about magic . A sort of Connect Yankee (Ohio) meets Gandalf with a little Rand al'Thor thrown in. Fast moving and we'll written. The author did a great job in this first installment of a great story.

A new world full of magic, war and love.

A man with the desire to do magic. Magic beans from an unknown person, and the desire for something new. He finds himself in a new world full of magic, undead, war and love. PG13 young adult book, I loved it.

Just couldn’t get through it. Seemed to drag on forever. The isekai was interesting at first but it didn’t seem to go anywhere. There was no carrot dangling on the stick to keep me interested through all of the minute details of traveling on horseback

Blood, guts, and gore.

Mostly blood, guts, and gore, lots of gorge. Magical land with horror galore. Not my cup of tea! War and battling .

The author let us follow a gentle magic story owner into a world of magic, unknown to him. Unfortunately that world turned seriously evil. A dark evil that I did not care to continue reading.

Fun fantasy read

Fun opening to a series. Enjoyed the plot line and the characters. Can't wait to start the next book in the series.

A 'fake' magician from this world is transported some how by beans to a fantasy world, where he never performs any 'fake' magic tricks (fake because in the fantasy world there is real magic). Falls in love in one of the strangest ways, like all of a sudden it just happened. The story was getting too cliche.

"But we must take small pleasures wherever we find them"

2.0/5.0 Clichéd to the point of monotony, 'Magicians Heir' has problems finding it's own identity. With characters needing development and depth; the story does not support its reasonable pace and fall flat towards the end. The book really needed its readers to care about the characters, to be invested in their journey, but on a strictly tell and no show bases, its hard to get that involvement.

The title of the book is attracting and the front cover of the book is catchy and justified according to the story. The plot of the story is hooking and captivating narrating style never lacked the grip of the story till the end anywhere. A perfectly compact and satisfying read for me. Would love to recommend this one for sure.

Grand adventure

"Magicians Heir" is a well written story that takes Adam Gray from his mediocre life to a place where he unknowingly is an extremely powerful mage. I would commend this book to fans of Robert Jordan.

Riveting

I love these types of books. They make you dream about being able to do good to combat so much evil and pain. This is a fast paced book and full of action and drama.

Excellent Adveture

An excellent story and adventure. Great world building and characters. I will definitely be reading this series if the second book is as good as this one.
