Today I posted the official book description for readers of The Architect of Song who are curious about the second in the series. The three follow up books are set within roughly twenty years of the same time era (1883 & 1904+), and each story connects to the others through family members that are in some way haunted by a ghostly element. Oh, and in case anyone's wondering, there's no love triangle in this one! I'll be revealing the cover in either January or February 2017.

I absolutely loved this book! It was everything I could have wanted and more! The atmosphere in Howards's books is always written so beautifully and magically. The characters feel real, and the pages are addicting. There's romance, action, mystery, that had me enthralled. I think this is her best book to date, and I can't wait to read the next one! I read this last year, but I can still remember how much I loved it.
Julian and Willow are both great characters and I really enjoyed their interactions. They have chemistry right from the start and I was basically waiting for them to kiss because the UST is palpable. And of course seeing Juliet and Lord Thornton was delightful.
Plot wise, it's deliciously creepy + they're on a boat for a good portion of the book and for me, that made it a bit more tension filled. I mean, you can't really ...more

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I am drowning in all the feels right now. The Architect of Song was absolutely ah-mazing, and I wasn't sure if The Hummingbird Heart would be able to fulfill my crazy high expectations (I was expecting so much from this book!) and THIS BOOK DELIVERED. If you just want an answer to the question "Should I read this book?" then I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, resoundingly Y-E-S! Even if you haven't read The Architect of Song (which I also strongly recommend) ...more

Beautiful and emotional character driven story that, like the first book, totally captivated me from start to finish. It was less intense than the first one but just as engaging in its own way. There is no love-triangle in this one (yay) and the romance is adorable!

I have loved AG Howard's writing and stories since Splintered hit the shelves and I was thrust into Wonderland with Alyssa, Morpheus, and Jeb. This series holds up to what I have come to expect when reading one of her books.

An advance copy of this title was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own. This review can also be found at The Starry-Eyed Revue.
This novel was, simply put, gorgeous. I loved Howard's Splinteredseries, but there's no doubt in my mind that I love this series best. I think it's just how sensual and mysterious each ghost story is -- or has been thus far -- coupled with the historical setting. I can't get enough of her atmospheric words.

“I … love you. From the first moment I saw you adjust the pistons and cylinders on a compressed air engine, I was yours. Now I can’t remember a time when I didn’t belong to you. And … and even should you not return my feelings … well, that will never change. Not for the rest of my life.”

The Hummingbird Heart was such an adventure! As much as I enjoyed the first book (The Architect of Song) I loved this one even more. The story simply had it all; romance, mystery, ghosts and a lot of swoony moments between the two lead characters.

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of AG Howard so when I was offered a copy to read I jumped on it. I adore Howard’s characters and they always have such great chemistry. This book takes place 19 years after The Architect of Song and once again it deals with a ghost story. I love the bits of mystery woven into the story and I have a feeling that as we read more and more in this series we’ll see how each book is interwoven more than we even think.

I think I need to immediately change my answer to the question "who's your favourite author?" since I'm once more giving away 5 stars to a Howard book. She deserves them, each and every one of my stars, every bit of my love for her stories, her characters and her writing style. This is what I want in books, this is why I read, this is what I love.

4.5 stars!
This is Howard's best series so far and that's coming from someone who enjoyed her Splintered series a whole heck of a lot.
I preferred The Architect of Song just a bit more than this installment but it is still such a wonderful series so far and I will be anxiously awaiting the next book!
Why I Love This Series And You Should Too:

If you don't know about Howard's writing then I suggest you get out from the rock you've crawled under! Her writing is compelling, beautiful and lyrical. And she knows how to write gothic novels!
But in the historical genre? She also does a pretty amazing job! This book takes place 19 years after the end of the first book, "The Architect of Song" and follows the story of Willow and Julian. They are both in love with each other, and they try to hide it ...more

Last year I read The Architect of Song and it turned out to be one of my absolute favorite books of 2016! I was a little unsure how the series could continue with such a huge time jump. (Those kinds of things can be so hit or miss! I'm pleased to announce that everything went better than expected!

I have been a huge fan of Howard since her Alice in Wonderland retelling, Splintered. Then when her new series started with The Architect of Song, I was very much pleased to get a new group of characters to love, as well as another world built with her beautiful way of weaving words. This second book is set at a different time than the first one in the series. It's something I always wish would happen, but rarely does. We get a look at our couple Juliet and Lord Thornton in the future, and we

The Hummingbird Heart is the second book in the Haunted Hearts Legacy series, and picks up 19 years from we left off in The Architect of Song. It’s starts with a terrible tragedy that just tears at your heartstrings. Willows parents are taken from her, and she is sent to live with a family at The Manor of Diversions. Willow has been growing up with Julian, Nick and their younger sister, who happen to be Nicholas and Juliet’s sons and daughter from the first book in the series. Now Willow is

Can we say a new favourite? I think we can..
The Hummingbird Heart by A.G. Howard is the sequel to The Architect Song, but don't let that worry you. This book takes place 19 years after the first one finishes and focuses on the children of the original pairing. It can be read as a stand alone, and you'd still completely understand what is going. However I do believe you get a stronger connection to the characters if you read The Architect of Song first. I have been a reader of A.G. Howard for a ...more

Okay, I give up. I'm just a sucker for this series.
I guess all I need is a fun romance with some ghostly activity and I'm game.
Despite her still using "gypsy," I can't help but like the characters. Not to mention the romance. Dang it.
So much of this is just too cute, and I just can't. I mean, Julian? Newton?
Oh, and I adore Willow.
Yes, the next one is on it's way to me as I write this.

Mmmmmhm: ADVENTURE, YOUTHFUL dreamy vibrant characters TRAVELLING to distant places, creepy CIRCUSES and some good supernatural mystery or so I hope...

This is one of my favorite authors, she's an auto buy for me. This is the second book in this series and up front I have to say that I normally stay away from this time period, it drives me crazy, I hate the whole proprietary thing, and the scandalousness of women showing an ankle or having to have chaperones, my brain wants to burst a blood vessel. However, I do make exceptions and one thing I love about this particular series is while they do follow the norms of society at this time, this

As always, Anita is a master storyteller. From the plot to the characters, everything about this book was incredible! I was consumed within the pages and didn't want it to end. But when it did, it was in an incredibly satisfying way. While this story wrapped up nicely with no frustrating cliffhangers, it still has me eager to get my hands on book three - which isn't out until August 2018! Insert crying emoji! So far, all we know about book three is that it will be Nick's story... GIMME GIMME

I could not have picked a better book to end the month! This is the second book in the Haunted Hearts Legacy series and if you like adult books that have mystery, romance, action and paranormal elements you need to pick this up now. It was such a pleasure to go back to this world! Willow's sass is everything and I might or might not have added Julian to my list of book boyfriends (which is not very big). This story has plot twists within its plot twists! I would have finished it sooner if it

Now I understand why there was a second book! This one is based on one of Juliet's son's Julian. This book wasn't as fast-paced as book one was, but it was still pretty good. It was so cute how Julian and Willow loved one another but was afraid to admit it. Willow didn't want to be separated from Julian so she pretended she was a boy and followed him onto the ship he was going to sail on. They eventually get reunited which Julian is very upset at first but gets over it... Willow is faced with

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first. This is set years after the first book and is from the POV of their children, now grown. It had a lot of sub-plots that, while more or less resolved in the climax, still got a bit much in the main body of the book. The ghost portion didn't really fit where it was the main plot in the first book; it felt a little forced or thrown in and was mostly unnecessary. It was still classic Edwardian romance (early 1900s and set right before the St. Louis
