A very affordable essay that explains from a social perspective the birth and evolution of consumer society in Britain. There are three main chapters devoted to consumption, sports and tourism respectively, with plenty of data and amusing anecdotes. The style is clear and reading doesn't become a dull task, sometimes it would be great to enjoy some photos or gravures accompanying the text though.
