Chinese title: 年年彩彩
This has 神率 of 53.5% on Chil-Chil!
Overall 4.5 to 5 ⭐️
My favorite manga from Hideyoshico sensei, with more depth than the xx-kun & xx-kun stories. I love how she incorporated traditional folklores from 落語 and wrote her own version of ending to the stories. It’s interesting to see the seme and uke from the main story lived through different eras in the last 200 years…
1st story: 金魚すくい～落語「貧乏神」より～
The seme 与平 is a lazy man, his wife finally ditched him and left home because he hasn’t been working for over 2 months using various reasons such as the weather, tired, sick… The uke 貧乏神 is the God of Poverty for this household and is dying of starvation because the seme hasn’t been being in money… Many neighbors have lent money to the seme and the landlord is coming to collect rent.
The seme only went out to work for half a day and spent the salary on sushi, bath and came home empty-handed. The uke tried to sharpen toothpicks like the seme’s wife had done but he sharpened both ends and they weren’t accepted by the shop. Then he started washing laundry for the neighbors to earn pocket money.
The only good thing that seme’s done for the uke is to buy his two gold fishes in a wooden bucket, the uke blamed the seme for wasting hard earned money but he’d glad to know that seme wanted to make him happy.
Their life slowly got better and had food on the table. One day the seme’s friend came to visit and the seme took money from uke’s hidden stash and spent it all on drinking.
The uke was devastated and finally left the home for good and didn’t reappear until the seme was dying. Because the uke was unemployed and had to get the license to a new profession, the God of Death…
The seme kept on waiting for the uke’s return, looking at the goldfish in the fish bowl. Eventually he had lung disease and was coughing blood, dyed in uke’s arms with a kiss of death.
2nd story: デラシネの花～落語「寿限夢」より～
The seme 寿限無（中略）長助 has lived for over 200 years because his parents gave him a super long name incorporating all the lucky words. He’s had a good life at the beginning, with a happy wife and kids. He saw the grandkids passed away and had been alone ever since.
Living in the countryside will cause lots of gossips so he moved to Tokyo and became a host in nigh club. The seme is no longer attached to people and doesn’t have relationships. He changes club every few months to avoid trouble.
The seme has seen the time pass by and met the uke 死神 God of Death (from the first story) again for the second time, the last time he saw the uke smile and he wanted to see it again. It’s like finding a comrade who’s also living an endless life, the seme found a purpose in life and kept hanging out with the uke.
The seme got cold first time ever and his old co-worker also said he’s starting to age. The uke has work trips and will be away once in a while, he’s checked the hall and saw seme’s candle burning down so he came back and told the seme that his death is near. The seme then went off and tried to start new relationships with girls but ended up not working out…
The seme got stabbed by his ex-gf and was about to die, then the uke appeared in the crow form and held the seme. As the death wish the seme asked the uke to call out his full name but the uke cannot grand personal wished due to his job. In the end the seme got to live and the uke got suspended by his boss, they lived together happily ever after.
3rd story: 小向家の事情
The main character 小向 is a young boy who lives with his dad and the partner, the dad works at the government and the partner takes care of all the housework. The partner would disappear when the boy’s relatives come to visit as if he doesn’t live here, told the boy to keep his existence a secret.. It’s until the boy started sexual education course in school that he realized his family situation is not normal… He saw the two of them having sex, and the dad was at the bottom. The boy was disturbed and ran away from the dad’s partner. As the boy grows up one day he comes home with his own boyfriend.

I hated that useless guy in the first story, in the end he lived alone when he could have been happy. The 2nd story was sweet and I really liked it. The 3rd and last story I'm pretty sure was about the same ppl in the 1st chapter, now reincarnated....

the mangas main character is the god of poverty. he comes to live with a poor man who doesnt like working because he sees that he can never earn enough money and just breaking his back. his wife left him and he takes in the stranger without second guessing.
the god brings luck and works under the house he is taken in trying to help the occupants out of poverty so he persists on yohei going to work.
when he finally does go to work he spends his money buying Bin-chan a bucket with two goldfish in it. Bin overhears how much yohei is owing others in the village so he takes on the laundry to work off the loans.
Bin stashed the money he earns once he paid off the dept and he is able to buy food while yohei is actually starting to work when his friend shows up and yohei invites him to go drinking taking Bin-chans hard earned money. when Bin-chan finds out he snaps and leaves yohei grieving that he is a lost case he changes occupation to become a god of death and only meet yohei when he is about to die.
the second man is a man who is stuck in time. he has an incredibly long name and outlives his wife and children and sees reigns change.he survives both world war and lives up to todays time without growing old. he works as a host draining womens money when he meets Bin-chan again since the last time he saw him during ww2 when he enlisted as a kamikaze soldier and Bin-chans smile captivated him. because they are both eternal beings they share the same sentiments and find one another soothing, however in Bin-chans companionship jugemu starts to age slowly.
when Bin-chan sees at his work that Jugemus candle is lit and burning brightly he alarms the man that he will die in the near future. then he disappears. Jumegu changes workplaces and even gets together with a girl who has some resemblance to Bin-chan but she gets fed up with the way Jugemu never really cares about anything. he gives off his paychecks buys groceries and goes home but his girlfriend gets mad at how indifferent he is.
his girlfriend breaks up with him and his boss fires him. walking down the street he gets stabbed by an ex and he sees Bin-chan again as he is about to die. he asks Bin-chan to call him by his long name and Bin-chan wants to refuse because its forbidden for him to grant personal wishes. because he does call him by his full name Jugemu survives death yet again and Bin-chan get told to stay home for a while because he broke the law. they stay together after that. it all gets to become a legend and told in a theather setting. Jugemu actually goes to see the piece and after that he fetches Bin-chan at their usual meeting point the cafe where they met first.
the last story is about a salaryman his tiny son and his gay lover who has to disappear whenever the grandma comes to visit. its about the little boy growing up and discovering that his fathers relationship isnt considered normal. and getting back at them he brings home his own boyfriend.
