Lucy was handed a raw deal while following her dream. Before her mom died she used to watch The Next Big Model. And former supermodel and lifestyle guru Fiona Crawford announced that the show was coming to Ocean Grove and that she would be the host. She knew that a big makeover was coming. Episode three of the season was upon them, just after the viewers had a chance to get to know them as contestants. Even so, she was nervous about the judges' suggestions.

They had done some wild things before, but the model looked great when completed. She was considered a “classic beauty,” with a good complexion and long shiny hair. It’s brown like her mother’s was, a deep shade that contrasts with the blue of her eyes. She made eye contact with Fiona. She gestured for her to move forward.

“Lucy,” she said as she stood before them. She didn’t mind their studious gazes. She’d spent her life with people looking at her. They’d been intrigued by her style, her backstory, her tragedy. Through it all, Lucy held her chin high. She’d learned to rely on herself and nothing else. Handing over control to Fiona as she had been a challenge. But when the unthinkable happens something that most women would lose their crap over and might even claw the stylist's eyes out over or file assault charges over at the very least.

That's how drastic it was for any woman let alone a seventeen-year-old girl who was already vulnerable and had been given up so much to get that far. And Fiona knew that, some hometown girl she is. Lucy did lose it she had a meltdown and ran off-stage. They dubbed her a spoiled, entitled, has-been. Instead, she was a girl who lost her mother, gave up her foster mother, dropped out of high school, and had no home. So, when she left she had to find a job, a place to live, and start online school, but most of all stay out of the limelight.

People might not know her right off, but when they did figure it out the reactions ran the gamut. It wasn’t until she met Dean, that she was for some strange reason ready, without her knowing why to face things head-on. Was she confident? Not at all. But Dean gave her just enough of enough challenge, attitude, cocky charm to make her want rise to the occasion. Is this guy who rubs her the wrong way but is sexier than sin worth her time or is he like everyone else in her life who will only disappoint her and abandon her? This was surprisingly engaging. The storyline was mature and yet on target for the age group. A sweet enemies-to-lovers love story.

Another great read by Anna Catherine Field. I loved her first one and the second one didn't disappoint.
I was excited to read about Lucy and hear her story. Lucy was also a foster child but ended up in a good home in Ocean Grove. That changed though when she decided to try out for The Next Big Model. The show didn't end the way Lucy had hoped it would and things changed. She ends up working at the pizza place in Ocean Grove called Pie Whole. She has a new appearance and not as much confidence as she used to. Then she mets Dean and her life changes even more, but for the better this time. I really liked the chemistry before Dean and Lucy. The attitude, the conversations, the playfulness, and helping each other out. I thought it was great that they ended up helping each other out and both of them getting somewhere/something out of the deal. I was glad that Lucy finally started getting her confidence back and Dean was able to get more out of his acting and that everyone was really supportive. I was a little surprised at how supportive his parents were and didn't really mind that he dropped out of school for acting and got his diploma online. I also thought it was great that Lucy ended up talking to her foster family again and went back on The Next Big Model Redemption show. One thing that was a little odd was the jealousy issue that I noticed another reviewer brought up. Dean ends up kissing a co-actor on set and then eventually they are supposed to date on the show. Lucy never mentions it or brings it up but I know the tabloids and social media mentioned that something may be going on with Dean and Reese. Lucy seemed upset about it after Dean ended up leaving earlier than planned but then nothing else was said about it. I also thought the ending was a little interesting when it came to the ending of the show. I was not expecting The Next Big Model to end like that and it was a different twist to the show. I am glad everything worked out though and that everyone ends up being friends and things seem to be going well. I'm curious as to who is the main character of the next story because I felt this story didn't leave any cliffhangers; which was nice. I definitely recommend this story/series though! I love that I was able to get an early copy of this for my honest review.

Pretty good book

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2019...

**** Not that much of some spoilers but it’s a few***

Now I liked this one way better than the first book with Finley and Chase which taken me a while to finish it... Bea and the Bad Boy was just as good as this one. I believe this book deserves to be a five star because it caught my attention from beginning to end. I liked how Dean helped Lucy out and build her confidence back and how she also helped Dean too. But one thing I didn’t like was his manager agent or whatever she is to him... I was glad he got rid of her since she wanted to ruin things for him when it came to Lucy. Knowing how he felt about Lucy... I believe she may have changed the time for him to leave for New York so that he could miss handing out with Lucy. But in the end, she lost a good thing, which was Dean...

It’s crazy how Agent try to control people lives and ruin a good thing for him. A lot of times they need their clients to be happy, and that’s all that Dean wanted..... & Lucy made him happy. I was glad that she got a redemption a do-over for her mistakes for running off because of the hair thing plus among other things. I mean I couldn’t blame her for the hair thing...no way would I want to cut my hair either; but you have to realize when you are planning to become a model you have to do things that you often don’t want to do. I felt like she was OLDER then eighteen years old for some reason... I know that Chase was in college or whatever I am like is she 19 or 20 then? Because he felt like she aged some years since she turned eighteen and left her foster home and that modeling house... and started working at the Pizza place.

>Book Review – Lucy and the Leading Man
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Love in Ocean Grove series and ends in an HEA. Lucy was introduced in book 1. She was a foster child, along with Finley. Unlike Finley, Lucy had a life-long goal of becoming a model and lived her life using her love of fashion and confidence. Lucy’s confidence tanks when she is on a modeling tv reality show. As a result, Lucy’s self-esteem is low, she dropped out of school and lost her foster family. Dean is a high school senior and super confident actor. He sees Lucy and is intrigued. Dean and Lucy find out they can help each other. Dean needs help rebranding himself, which is Lucy’s forte. Lucy needs to regain her confidence, which is Dean’s forte.
>As Lucy and Dean fall for each other, there is the issue of how the physicality of acting might cause jealousy between a couple. Dean kissing his co-star is never really addressed. Dean is hired as a love interest, but no jealousy issues are ever dealt with regarding Lucy. I love the interactions between Dean and Lucy as they move from friends to dating.
>This book is appropriate for a young adult (16+) audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I wish the jealousy issue was addressed.

I expected to like this book more than I did .. but I guess not every book is my cup of tea even if it has the right cover for it

The story follows Lucy, she is from foster care and the moment she turned 18 she dropped out of school and went to follow her dreams of becoming a model, until she was on the reality show where they shaved her head and she went through a meltdown and left this world forever .. or so she thought because she meets Deen, a startup actor in the beginning of his career and he teaches her how not to give up on your dreams, specially with the new episode of the reality show to redeem her

I usually enjoy the romance between a celebrity and a normal girl, but this one wasn't to my liking, Deen's feeling were very conditional and so many times he nearly gave up on her.. and there was nothing exciting about their relatioship, and the ending was reallt bazar to me .. all and all I didn't like this book hopefully the rest of the series will be better from now on

I love Anna Catherine Field's Ocean Grove series. Each book contains a sweet love story that will brighten your day. Lucy and the Love pact is the second book in the series. I didn't read it until after I had read several others in the series. Lucy and Dean's story was probably my least favorite out of the lot. That by no means expresses my dislike of the book. On the contrary, I enjoyed it a lot. I just didn't relate to Lucy or as as much as other characters. They were both quite self absorbed in the beginning but throughout the book grew into wonderful characters. Good book!

I love this series and can’t wait for the next one! I have to admit that I preferred the first one because it was so different and the premise of a YA story about group homes and foster care really drew me in, for personal reasons, but this one was very good too. Clean romance with no sex and no swearing, no innuendo. Highly recommended.

This is a sweet YA romance about Lucy. She is a foster girl learning to trust others. Dean is an up and coming actor who notices Lucy working one day at a local pizza parlor. He is intrigued by her and through friendship gets her to trust him. A sweet romance developed between them, but obstacles come between them. Enjoyable read.

This one was more intriguing than the last one. It was different than other teen books I have read but almost unbelievable at times. The ending was a little rushed. It was clean, only kissing and I don’t remember any curse words. There was a lot of mentions about abs and maybe swimming suits. A few comments on checking someone out.

This is a super cute love story. It's believable and I get Lucy's story. Trusting is not easy to gain once it's been broken. So to do a trust fall is hard. I liked it.

Having met Lucy in Finley and the Foster Brother, it was fun to read her story. Again Field has done a great job with her characters.

I love this book and its story of redemption. Lucy is introduced briefly in Finley's book as a side character who becomes friends with Finley. In that book, she mentions trying out for the show that is run by Chase's mom. This book is the story of what happens because of that experience on the show. I love how Lucy was willing to risk everything to follow her dreams, but when those dreams come crashing down, she falls with them. I love how hard she works to come back from that experience and the support that she has from Dean and from others to help push her to do that. This is truly a redemption story that follows her through all of her ups and downs to regain what she has lost and to push for a better future. Anna Catherine Field has done an amazing job with this book and I cannot wait to see where the next takes us.
