Anne Maybury has been 2011's new author find for me (I say "new" only in context of me having finally discovered her, as the majority of her books are over 30 years old). After finishing this offering (my third by her), I find I am having a love/hate relationship with her writing.

As an adventure, I loved this story. I love a book that will take me away to a faraway place ~ escapism at its finest~ and I felt that Anne Maybury delivered on that score. Minus a star for being more than slightly outdated--the book's forty years old--but kudos for including a career woman as protagonist and a stepchild who resents her father's new wife because she's NOT the child's mother. And the 'exotic' clime, North Africa, which probably would have been at the forefront of everyone's imagination in the early '70s, given the Gulf Region's sudden prominence at that time.
