It is unfortunate, but in our daily life, image and how we see ourselves makes up an enormous amount of how we feel. It may have become heightened with all of the social media outlets, etc., but these concepts of beauty and its importance has always been there.

As an example, I had made it to twenty-five without having chicken pox. When my first son came down with it, so did I. It left me with some minor scars on my face. As minor

This was surprisingly a Nice read.

Clair is a lonely woman. One side of her face has burn scars and she is very self conscious due to that. She moves to a small Montana ranch for peace and solitude and to avoid human interactions.

It was really sad and heartbreaking with what Claire went through and how she was treated, but that all changes when she meets Wes.

Wes is a rancher and a player and a carefree guy. When a new neighbor comes to live in his neighborhood, he is attracted to her. Though he c

Great story with a recluse heroine!
“The Cowboy Next Door”, by Trish Milburn, is a wonderfully emotional and sensitive story about a wounded heroine and the sexy and funny cowboy who woos her with his kindness.
We get an amazing depiction of what a woman with these issues feels and goes through and what it means to live with the constant realization that “something as simple as being attractive to another person would never be simple

The story had me reflected that there‘s still indeed double standards when it comes to battle scars someone had. When it came to men, people accepted that scar as sign of courage and bravery; women don’t have that privilege - they are expected to keep smooth facial skin. This so called ”rules” applied to the majority of us. But then again, it is said that women are their harshest critics.

Claire Moon, the heroine in “The Cowboy Next Door” bore scars from a tragic fire that ha

A wonderful story reminding us that beauty is more than what is on the outside. Claire Moon is a withdrawn reclusive young woman who bears the scars of a past tragedy. When the cattle from the neighboring ranch run wild in Claire's yard and garden Wes McQueen rides into her life. After he wrangles the cattle back to his property Wes is determined to make it up to Claire for the destruction the cattle caused. The Cowboy Next Door is the third title in Trish Milburn's Once Upon a Western series and it's the second title in that series I've read, and my favorite thus far. Although it's a one-sitting read, it is filled with warmth, kindness, an emotional understanding and sensitivity to the way people with disfiguring injuries (accept that it also relates to those born less than perfect) deal with the way people react to them, and how they come to learn to accept the hand they've been dealt and carry on ...more

I was quickly swept into THE COWBOY NEXT DOOR not only because of the romance but also because of the message that is gently but firmly delivered in a wonderful story. Your definition of bravery will be changed after meeting Claire. And you’ll realize that a funny, flirty cowboy who has been the joker of this group has a far more understanding and perceptive side as well.

When describing the mental state of heroes or heroines I will often use the word -wounded- that w

The Cowboy Next Door is the third of the Once Upon a Western Romance books by Trish Milburn. The McQueen brothers have all play a main role in each with the younger brother getting his story now. Wes has many of the youngest sibling traits even though being a hard worker and good man. It was unfair to call him a player, he never made promises and broke them or cheated on anyone.

This is without a doubt my favorite of the three. I am not sure why that is but there is something so adorable about a

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the third book in the Once Upon a Western series. I have enjoyed each book. This book is about the third brother Wes and the newcomer, Claire Moon. Claire has moved from Houston and purchased a home in Montana bordering Wes and his family’s ranch acreage. Claire is a hermit and unwilling to leave her home or talk to people. We learn it is because one side of her face was badly scarred in a fire in her apartment complex ...more

“Because physical perfection isn’t what makes a person beautiful.”
There was so much I liked about The Cowboy Next Door. The slow friendship turn romance, the fun banter, the emotional and sensitive storyline, the characters, and the writing. This is truly a character and dialogue driven story. Wes is a sexy, fun cowboy who has never lacked for female attention and has a reputation as a love and leave ‘em whether it was deserved or not. Claire, once a vibrate free spirit, has become a loner and h

Clare has endured hell, and only wants to fade into the background and live a peaceful and inconspicuous life, after the brutality she suffered at the hands of the man who vowed to love and protect her. Wes is a carefree, live life in the moment, sexy as all get out Cowboy. He doesn’t want for women, but his love em` and leave em` reputation isn’t really who he is.

The Cowboy Next Door is a beautifully written account of the preconceptions and cruelty imposed by small-minded people, and the devas

This series of books by Author Trish Milburn is loosely based on our favorite fairy tales. This one is based around Beauty and the Beast. If you have read past books in this series you might recognize Wes McCall as one of the brothers mentioned in one of the two earlier books released. No worries of you have no read them, although they are were good books based on fairy tales as well... you will not need to have read them to get this book at all. Third in Trish Milburn’s Once Upon A Western series, The Cowboy Next Door is a sweet love story with a healthy dose of self doubt on the parts of the protagonists. Set in ruggedly beautiful Montana, this story brings together a drop dead gorgeous cowboy with a reputation for not committing and a reclusive jewellery maker who’s moved to her new Montana ranch to hide from the world after a fire left her with severe scarring on one side of her face.

The Cowboy Next Door by Trish Milburn is book 3 in the "Once Upon a Western" series, but is pretty much written as a stand alone type of book.
Its one of those books, that when you start reading, you are swept into the story and will have a very hard time putting the books down, before you make sure, that they get their own very happy ending.
Claire and Wes will need to fight for their happy ending, and family, past and present will all do theirs to try to keep them apart. So pick it up, and see

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

What a heartwarming book, as both Claire and Wes have issues in their life and they both start to deal with those issues and grow along the way - personally and as a couple.

Wes starts to realize that maybe the single bachelor ways are not so great and Claire deals with her insecurities from her scars.

I loved that Wes was so protective of Claire and she tried so hard to not fall for Wes but she did.

Great HEA and I enjoyed the friends to lovers theme.

This book had me from the start, the main characters were so likeable, and I could completely understand Claire and why she wanted to just be alone and left alone and yet my heart also was taken by how Wes just wanted to do so much for her and to be her friend. And then came the night he wanted her help with some abandoned puppies he had found and now my heart is fully involved.
Yes I recommend this one, and don’t just leave it on your TBR pile.

Claire has moved to Montana after a horrible fire burned the side of her face. Trying to escape from the world she buys a small run down ranch to run her online jewelry business. Hunky Wes, the cowboy next door, turns up chasing some of his cows that had escaped and were eating her garden. Instant attraction, but she doesn't trust him and doesn't want pity. He can't stay away and finds lots of excuses to visit. Enjoyed this one, and although short it felt complete. Highly recommend this story.

Good read

This one has less angst than the last one, some romance, some humor, some love, and lots of surprise. She was injured in a fire and only wants to be left alone. He is intrigued and, what he can see, is beautiful. But he decides to help her and the struggle is on. Highly recommend.

Cowboy Next Door is a heart touching, deeply moving novel set in rural Montana. It is far enough away from the crowded city that Claire Moon needs to escape the gawking and pitying stares of people at her burned face. When she encounters Wes McQueen, the handsome and rugged rancher next door, she is in for a sweet, honest surprise-one that could change her life if she opens enough to let him in.

This is Wes (the playboy) and Claire (the recluse due to having one side of her face scarred by fire).
