Excellent sequel! The writing, character development, and world building completely swept me up. I am a huge fan of a certain couple and after that ending, I need to know what happens next!! I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll keep this short for now!

Have you ever felt like you were actually part of a story, that you could see every scene? Mallory McCartney’s QUEEN TO ASHES the second book in her Black Dawn series is just as fabulous as book one, and quite possibly better!

Emory Fae has left the world she knew behind to embrace the world that sang to her heart. The memories taken from her are slowly coming back and she will realize that all is not as it seems. Those around her wear masks of deceit and she must pretend allegiance to her

BEWARE, this review may contain SPOILERS.

The sequel to Black Dawn only gets darker. After a rather fast and furious introduction to this series, Queen to Ashes certainly never stalls. There is nothing but action, action, action! If you get bored reading this book, then we aren’t reading the same

My Thoughts - Story
When I requested to review this book from NetGalley, I wasn’t aware that this was a second book in the series – so I first had to go back and read Emory’s story in Black Dawn to get the back story of all of the

Queen to Ashes is the second installment in author Mallory McCartney's Black Dawn series. I have to say, I am absolutely stunned by the endings to this story. Endings meaning two characters face life or death moments. I dare say it's given me some time to think about my review before sitting down and actually writing it, or in this case, typing it. This is a story that features many different characters. But, let's start with

A dark spellbinding journey that will entice you with its ancient magic, tricks of fate, and fierce rebellion. Get ready!

Wow. After finishing Queen To Ashes, I've had to take a moment to fully digest the twists and turns this story has taken since Black Dawn. Every single character has had to face their own horrifying and traumatic events, but I absolutely love it. (Maybe I'm a little morbid that way?) The story is beautifully crafted and with that ending... MALLORY I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS

I was given an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

When Mallory messaged me on Bookstagram asking me if I’d be interested in reviewing Queen to Ashes, I couldn’t respond quickly enough. I enjoyed Black Dawn, and it left me wanting to know what was going to happen to Emory, Memphis, Brokk, and the rest of the rebellion. I’m so glad to report that Queen to Ashes did not disappoint, it left me on the edge of my seat, and it made me fall in love with Mallory’s

Thank you to the Author for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book takes place immediately after book 1, now unfortunately I read them as book 1 then 0.5 then this second book so I did spend a lot of time confused about who was where and doing what. I think that this as well as RL stuff is why it took me so long to finish the book and I did end up distant from the characters. This may have been why certain plot points did not hit me how the author intended but this is an entirely me
This book was received as an ARC from Clean Reads Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was so caught up in the action of this book and the storyline of how Emory does not recollect her life in past years and has her focus on being the future queen of Kiero but when the Evil King Adair makes his mark and past memories are now being pieced together and her memories are becoming clearer and clearer, the plot can't help

While the book started off kind of interesting, it really dropped off for me.

The plot points were all resolved and the ending was interesting enough but for some reason parts of the middle couldn’t hold me.

That’s part of the reason it took too long.

The beginning picked up with almost no time passing between it and the end of the first one.

Emory was still in trouble and the rebellion was still in hiding. The crazy guy was still in charge. In other words, there was no giant revelation early on.

I'm not sure where to start. I was debating between 2 and 3 stars, but I'm not entirely sure the issue was the book, it may have just been me. I really struggled with part 1. It didn't help that I barely remembered anything from book 1. I had a lot of difficulties connecting to the characters and the story. And the longer it takes me to get through a book, the more frustrated I get. However, I started to enjoy the book more once we got to part 2. I no longer had as many issues connecting to the ...more
