Harris uses clear language to talk about being transgender in America. She covers everything from a definition of transgender, expressing gender identity, legal and economic challenges of being transgender, health and safety challenges of being transgender, and trans people in the media. She closes with a look at the future of transgender equality.
There are full color photographs throughout. There are also discussion starter questions, text boxes, essential facts, a glossary, a very brief selected bibliography, a QR code and link for online resources, a short list of places to contact for more information, and source notes.
