I think if you have a little pirate in the house this might be a good bedtime story. The pirate life is pretty stereotypical through the first part but then surprises the reader by informing that pirates love their pajamas and do other things to get ready for bed like brush their teeth.
The illustrations are humorous and in ways that are intended to humor the adults reading the book more than the child they are reading to. For example, a Led Shippen rock poster, or the sheep playing solitaire

This is an absolutely adorable and laugh out loud book. Young readers are going to love this book about pirates, but not just any pirates. These are pirates love anything and everything bedtime related, especially pajamas. This charming read has wonderfully fun and brightly colored pictures to enhance the experience as well. Super fun book! We all know about pirates, right? But this book gives you a little-known “fact” that you probably didn’t already know: they love pajamas, and basically all things bedtime. I love the humor in both the text and the illustrations. This is one book where you don’t want to turn the pages too fast. There is a lot to see in the pictures, including things that aren’t mentioned in the written words. One of the really impressive things about the book is that it can have such silly humor, ...more

What an adorable picture book. It starts out with things that pirates like that are familiar to the reader. The idea that pirates love to dance, sing, and carry swords are common themes. But, then we learn that pirates love pajamas. The idea that pirate grandmas sew the pajamas made me smile.

This book has a great rhyming scheme and fantastic pictures. It will appeal to kids of all ages. I can imagine little ones asking for this book night after night in order to see the funny animals and hear

With fun rhyms and great illustrations this book has been one our kids request over and over. Even pirates brush their teeth, or tooth (depending on the pirate) before going to be at night. The kids love the grumpy sheep, mad because pirates count gold at night.
