Bree Nelson has had to grow up fast. Barely an adult herself, she now faces the overwhelming task of caring for her younger brother and sister, Brock and Shari. But just when things seem most bleak, she is offered a job at a sprawling mountain ranch. When the small family arrives in the tight-knit Idaho community, everyone warmly welcomes Bree and her siblings. Even though Bree has no interest in religion, the younger children begin attending LDS church meetings. But soon terrifying events overshadow the warm welcome. Now Bree must fight for her own life as she tries to rescue Brock and Shari from an assailant that is all-too-close to her. A gripping story of intrigue and drama that shows how the Lord's love can guide His children through life's darkest experiences.
This is my second time reading this book and I enjoyed it both times. Pretty suspenseful, very clean and does have some LDS/ religious references-the author is LDS so that makes total sense. It’s an easy read, the writing is alright-there was a lot of repetitive word use in my opinion but it didn’t take away from the story. I gave it 4 stars because I read this twice with about 10 years between each time and still was grabbed by the story.
When Bree Nelson is offered the job of head cook at a ranch in the mountains it's a dream come true for her and her younger siblings, who lost their parents 6 months prior. Little does she know that one of her "friends" becomes obsessed with her and becomes a madman in his quest to have Bree to himself. This stalker isn't revealed until the end of the book so the story keeps you guessing. It just drives me crazy in these books when someone knows someone's out to kill them and they still go off alone without protection. This story also shows how the gospel of Jesus Christ can be a comfort in times of fear and trial.
This was a very suspenseful book about a girl who was being stalked. I enjoyed it, but I couldn't figure out why she kept putting herself in danger. A man is trying to kill her, is calling her threatening her, is writing her death threats, and has already kidnapped her little brother and sister, she sees no reason why she shouldn't stay in the house alone or go walking around outside in the dark alone. She's supposed to have somebody with her all of the time, but those people also have more important things to do. And she must have been a beautiful young lady since she had three men fighting over her. How would it be?
This story is about a young girl who after her parents dies has to take care of her two siblings, she gets a job on a ranch and things start to happen that scare her, she is surrounded by good people and the suspense of who the villain is was really good, it kept me guessing till the end, what I didn’t like about the story was the villain, to think that love can turn to hate and so much hurt is very sad. This is a clean read, it is suspenseful and will keep you guessing.
From the moment I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down! Full of mystery and intrigue from the Prologue to the very end. Taylor does a fantastic job giving snippets of clues to solving the mystery, but then throwing in other variables making you doubt what you thought you had figured out. A great suspense read.
Although I figured out who the bad guy was early on, it was still a pretty good book in spite of too many people getting kidnapped at different times by the bad guy.
