Perhaps a more fitting title would be A Basic Smattering of Surrealism. The selection of works aims at too wide a swath of artists (some to whom I would question giving the moniker of Surrealist) rather than some of the essential works by the major Surrealist artists, which are sadly left out.
This work is alright for a table book to entertain company, but what it provides for those interested in Surrealism is shallow and a bit disappointing.
I think this book is the mantra on how to be a surrealist artist. Plenty of dreamscape ideas and Salvador Dali is in good company with imaginative comrades of illusion. I am still learning from it and its powerful manifesto of perchance to dream is divine. Only creative souls can dig this tome.
