Christopher subsequently added further books to the series.

It was a spring day on the Island of Sodor and Thomas enjoyed such days as he could pass by Farmer McColl's sheep field and enjoy watching the sheep frolicking in the fields and calling Baa! Baa! to him as he passed. He would always whistle back, Peep! Peep!. in reply.

This particular day Farmer McColl let him know it was a special day because lots of lambs were due to be born but they needed some soft hay to make their welcome to the world more comforting. And Farmer McColl asked Thomas to go to the Old Barn to pick some up.

Off Thomas went but on his way he began thinking that the lambs might like some other things as well soon his way he began to collect things that he thought they might like. However, this caused a problem because when he got to the Old Barn he had no room on his truck for any hay. What should he do?

See how he resolves the situation satisfactorily so that the lambs end up having a lovely time on their arrival ...
