Sam tries to befriend a new girl at school whose family just moved to Oakdale but has old connections to the town. However, the girl's secretive nature has Sam and her pals concerned, especially when a valuable model train goes missing. I like that each of these mysteries tends to feature a different main character from the three friends. Wishbone gets up to some very typical Jack Russell hijinks in this one! I did find it interesting that they used The Moonstone as the companion story that Sam uses to help solve her own mystery simply because I know there was a Wishbone episode set around that book. Usually this mystery series features different books that the TV show never covered.

My favorite part was when Wishbone helped to find the golden dog, after the key was fund in the engine and the engine was found in the toolbox and wasn't actually stolen at all. My least favorite part was when Isabel kept lying to Sam and the rest of them. I like how in this book, the main human character was Sam, while all the other Wishbone Mystery books that I have read, the main human character was always Joe.
