The journey to enlightenment continues... (Not really)

Bevan keeps writing fun stories about our plucky band of A Holes.
What is cool about this book is how Bevan keeps stirring the pot with bringing together different sub groups of the characters.
Katherine keeps growing in her skills where she becomes more formidable in strength and leadership abilities.
Tim, well he needs to learn from his sister about growing up. (Still)
Dave, I think, we start to realize Dave may just be an A Hole... Granted, his "condition" isn't helping his personality.
Julian is, in many ways, trying to accept his fate, but he is leveling up, too. In more than one perspective.
Chaz, Dense, and Randy all provide interesting things here. It is really great how Bevan is using them to move things along.
We meet some new folks this book, as would be expected.
Oh yeah, Cooper...
He is the hero we deserve in this series. All the way to the end.

At this point you read all the other books and enjoyed them. Do you really need this review to convince you to buy this book?

There is more busy work here then satire. It is an adventure full of events, but not as fun as the previous ones. Katheryn is the only character who becomes a better person in this story. Cooper somehow too, because of his lawful good intelligent axe, Naabi. The others are still just a bunch of assholes.

The following contains SPOILERS. It is a not very good summary of the story. I don't want to spend much time writing this.

Tim turns out to be alive and well. He is the one who captures Dave, having turned into a wererat himself. He happens to have a master plan in order to defeat Mordred, but decides to leave his friends out of the loop because their a bunch of losers. The thing is, turning into wererats changes your alignment to evil, which is an explanation for why he and whoever gets lycanthropy becomes even more assholes themselves.

Dave having become a wererat himself can now potentially help him. Tim have became the leader of a gang of wererats, teleported into his home reality, although keeping his halfling body, and smuggled guns into the fictional world. His gangs betrays him, and he teleports back to his home reality, with Dave and a hostage from his former gang. He is confronted by a cop, take him as a hostage, and through him gets some information on the investigation of his disappearance some months ago. When other cops shows up, he is again forced to escape and teleports back to the fantasy world. He ditches Dave, is pursued by Cooper, who was also bit by a wererat. They ended up in a desert, both as wererats. Cooper leaves Nabbi behind.

Katheryn and the other members of the Whore's Head Inn, plus the dark Elf Tanner, decide to take the avatar of Mordred that Cooper had captured to a safe place. They go back to the (former) Frozen Island, now a tropical paradise. They plan to establish a new base of operations there. In the way she defeat more pirates. She finds a good place to stash Mordred. She comes through as a good leader, makes some though decisions but gives her friends a sleave of hope.

Chad and Julian go back to the Moon of the Crescent Shadow. Chad disguises himself as a musician and Julian his manager. He is very successful singing Neil Diamond songs. They find one of the die, but they attracted too much attention, and Mordred shows up to get it. A wizard they had befriended teleports them to safety. Then the wizard teleports then back to the Frozen Island at their request, after a signed contract that bound them as business partners.
him
Randy, Denise and Jake, a newly arrived character from their home world go to examine rumors of a poweful Bard in another continent. They acquire passage on a ship from and old acquaintance of theirs. Denise is pregnant with scorpion babies, Randy has a special paladin mount, his pet baselisk Bazel. They eventually use the Fozen Island as a bargaining chip, and in order to prove it is now habitable, the captain takes them there.

Everyone in the island, except Tim and Cooper who are in the desert, Mordred escapes. A big fight ensues, with some pirates who came to take revenge, rising a water elemental. Katheryn metamorphed into a shark and kills Mordred.

Another notch in the must-read in this Bevan series. While I do want to see the conclusion of their problems, ailments, and escapades -- it is for that same reason I cant get enough of it and dont want it to end! Another highly recommend for Fatnasy/LitRPG lovers.

Not for the faint of heart or easily triggered, but an excellent read for the rest of the crowd. You've been warned waned!

Another volume in this horribly fun series.
It was longer, and sometimes felt more mature than the previous entries, and some of the charecters are actaully growing and learning (gasp!) ehich is great. The world feels deeper and deeper after each volume, and the social commentary is nice.
My only problem is that the book didn't feel complete enough for me. It's more like a long mid-season episode and less a "complete novel". It's hard for me to explain, but it's as of you could add it seamlessly to the previous book. Which means that after reading it, I don't have a chance of telling what haopened in book v, and what in book vii. Like the story was randomly cut to fit in a reasonably sized book.

But other than that - a fun ride which I'm happy to continue.

Number seven in a hilarious, NSFW fantasy/comedy series. Follow a group of loveable losers who find themselves trapped in the world of a fantasy-roleplaying game.

'Septapussy' marks book seven of this comedy fantasy series set in a Dungeons and Dragon-like world. I'll keep the review brief, partly to avoid spoilers and partly because, if you read the first six, and enjoyed them, my review for book seven won't sway you one way or the other. Judging by the incredibly vague/lacklustre blurbs of recent books, Bevan has come to this conclussion as well.

In the previous book we had chapters focusing on two or three characters each as the party did that thing that you should never do in a roleplay game ... split the party. The same format is used this time around except the character pairings are switched up a bit to give it a fresher feel.

Each book I find myself wondering just how Bevan is going to find new things for the characters to do and, somehow, he manages to knock it out of the park every time in ways I could never have imagined.

These books certainly aren't for everyone as they're filled with swearing, sex jokes and just all around crass college humour that will trigger anyone who chooses their books based on trigger warnings. It's the perfect blend of filth and humour to make it easy reading, so easy in fact that, during my fantasy slump I could read this and enjoy it as much as ever before.

My only downside to this novel is that I felt a certain aspect of Randy and Denise's storyline to be very underwhelming. Just felt like it had been built so well only to be a bit of an anti-climax. Other than that, I absolutely loved this and sped through the pages.

I’m so sick of these stories and characters just treading water in terms of overall progression. Tim, Dave, and Denise are beyond unbearable in this book. Constant bitching and moaning, more times than not actively detailing the story for another joke. I mean damn their personalities are top shelf shit and I’m sick of spending time with them.

The rest of the crew, Julian, Catherine, Stacey, and Chaz have some forward progression and they’re stories were generally my favorite. Cooper is.... there. After some great character development in the last few books, he is fully present in this book, but that’s it.

The biggest FU to the reader has to be the overall lack of anything actually happening in this book. The entire gang moves from the bar to an island, that’s it. They get there in their own stupid ways but honestly, what else happens in this book? They kill another Mordrid after almost messing everything up but who cares. So mad I wasted an Audible credit on this.

Speaking of the audiobook. Jonathan Sleep is amazing and the extra bit of music and sounds really add that extra bit to the performance. Top notch as always.

I look forward to the next D6 installment, with their self contained, funny, and overall satisfying stories, but I’ll probably pass on the next novel or two.

Fun, surprisingly full of heart.

Okay. So when I first started this series, I didn’t think it would be for me: I can enjoy a good dick joke as much as anyone else, but it was never really my area of preference.

How wrong I was! Starved for more “C&C” in between my own games, I went back to it and devoured the first three books in 30 hours. (I read very fast. It’s the bane of my existence as a reader.) I found myself hurrying to get the others, because I HAD to find out what happened; more importantly, what further character development was going to shock the sh*t out of me? I don’t want to post any spoilers, but I WILL say that book 7 came out YESTERDAY and I’ve already finished it. I will follow this series until the bitter end. And god, what I wouldn’t give to TTRPG with Robert Bevan.

These books really need less POV characters. This is more a collection of 5 short stories shuttled into different chapters than a single narrative.

However... it feels like the narrative has actually progressed for a change.

But I really don't get the attitudes in the book now. Travel to the "Real World" is becoming ridiculously common. If these people wanted they could go home like they keep complaining. There are even means to change them selves into something closer to their true selves. (assuming DnD rules)

These books just keep getting better, the characters are coming more to life with each book. I especially like how the author has developed Katherine and how she has grown as the series progresses. Maybe Denise would not be missed but that is just a personal opinion and I am sure that not everyone will agree. Even the characters flaws are good in that they are more like is regular folks and none of the good or bad traits are overdone.
Waiting (and checking daily) for #8 and hoping the series goes on for ever! While waiting I will have a look at 16 and some of the other extras (hope Kat is in some)

What a roller-coaster. This book has more ups and downs than Dave's mom on a good night ;) It is very interesting to see how Bevan's story telling improves with every book. I can't help but wonder if this book shouldn't have been split in two however. There are several points in the plot where he could have but it does play out better as one volume. Cannot wait to read the next adventure.

The worst part about this book is that now I have to wait a year or more before its heartbreaking cliffhanger is resolved!

Other that that, it's just lovely. In the very specific value of those words that applies to a book about nerds pooping.

Another great installation in this series! I love these books. I will say that I docked a star because some of the jokes are starting to get played out, and hopefully the author will evolve a little going forward. Again love the books, great story progression.

Always a great time with C&C

I cannot wait until the next book(number8). I've read every book and short story in the collection. If you've ever played D&D and like vulgar but hilarious humor then Robert Bevan and his books especially the C&C series are for you.

Such douches, but can't stay away

Tim and friends have split the party again, with each having their own separate adventures and more of their "charisma" showing.

Still really enjoying this series, and can't wait for the audio version

All the characters appear annoyed by how this is dragging on which matches my feelings and maybe the author's too. I think all the characters and situations have already been explored sufficiently.

I purchased the first 7 books on sale thinking this would be a good series and I was wrong. These books are laden with homophobic, sexist, racist, and masterbutory comments. While I understand the characters are from Mississippi, there is no joke here, it's just goes over the line...constantly. The overall concept of the story is excellent but the execution is horrible. The author writes like a 14 year old boy. Character development might be the worst thing of this series next to the racism. None of the characters have any redeeming value, you honestly don't like any of them. You can connect with them because they're just a bunch of morons which removes any vision of realism. Tim is a drunken ass how treats everyone like garbage, Cooper, Julian, Tony the Elf, Frank, Cat, Stacy... well, no need to name them all, they're horrible.

There is no escape for this series. You can not lose yourself because you keep getting annoyed by the piss poor writing and crappy characters. I paid for these books so I decided to listen to all of them, hoping they would get better... but they don't. They actually get worse over time.

Nothing happens. Felt like an hour of content stretched out. This could seriously have just been a prologue in the previous book if all the boring and useless meandering fluff was cut out.

The worst in the series so far. Felt absolutely disrespectful of my time.

Nothing eventful or epic happens. Characters remain mostly stagnant and boring. And honestly wasn't even as funny or whacky to compensate. This was just so boring with waiting for the next big adventure that never really comes.

Honestly this was just so lame with all this useless and boring fluff with such little pay off.

Maybe the last like 30-45 minutes with this book does it feel like some meaningful plot starts moving but by that point I was just sorta over it and not impressed how it ended either way as the boredom I went through to get there just didn't feel worth it.

Spoilers! (duh)

HOW COULD BEVAN END THE BOOK LIKE THIS?!?

Still, hilarious and even more imaginative. The most bizarre insults came from an NPC this time. Also, Bevan really makes you love to hate Mordred, who rivals Dolores Umbridge as the most infuriating, self-righteous, and insufferable villain in a fantasy ever.

But why, oh why, did Bevan think it would be ok to end the book with Cooper having turned to a were-rat (probably) and that's just it. No resolution of ANY of the threads anywhere in the book at all. The book gets to the climax and just ends.

I hope book 8 comes out soon!

Great reading for this time of year

☺Still love this book series!🤓and it's a sweet distraction from all the corona-virus pandemic news swirling around and around at this point in time.
But, once again I have to say, "Ahhh! Poor Tanner!"🤕😭 He's one of my favorite people! And 😎Katherine... And 😎Stacy... And Julian.☺and Chaz can be pretty funny too🙂.
😒Tim and Dave I've gotten to dislike royally.
And Mordred 😡is just one of those villains that you just love to hate.
😳😨and the ending!!😢poor Cooper😱
😃I can't wait for the next one!!!🤓🤗

I would have never made it this far if not for Kindle Unlimited

If I actually had to pay for these individually I'd have never made it past book 1. The most remarkable thing about the series is the absolute lack of any likeable characters and they're not just unlikable, by and large they're horrible human beings. I have to believe the author was drunk or stoned while writing this, and not good stoned like Samuel Coleridge, Hunter S. Thompson or Kevin Smith. If this series was a person it would be Gary Busey.

Actually, that's probably unfair to Mr. Busey.

The raunchy story of people from our world trapped in a game continues . . .

This series is entertaining, though nasty. The party of players from our world trapped in a game of Caverns & Creatures by a sadistic GM ( "Mordred") by means of magical dice continue in their quest to acquire the artifacts that trapped them in the fantasy world and force the GM to return them to their world . . . But nothing ever seems to go according to plan, and the curse of lycanthropy is spreading . . . I'm enjoying the series, though it is often outright nasty . . .

Mordred still lives

The gang are STILL trying to find their way back from the fantasy world of Caverns and Creatures. And Mordred and his elusive dice are still a problem.

But that almost isn’t the point anymore. The core characters are really well-drawn, though there are several characters I could do without - Denise in particular. They all have crazy adventures and side trails. And there is plenty of language that you don’t want your kids reading.

As a lifelong D&D player, I love the gameplay concepts I can glean from this series. What bugs me is the rapey tone a lot of the characters have throughout the series. Is that really necessary?do we really need Dave to jerk off “in secret” at every female character experience? I still give this book five stars, but perhaps couch the crudeness better in subsequent books? It’s a disservice to the TTRPG community, and just a crude appeal to the incel audience.

This was probably my least favorite installment so far. The "morals" of the good guys coupled with Mordrid's unfettered evil is so...Marvel. There was virtually no forward progress in the plot, either. And because of this, I have the distinct impression that the author is milking this cow.

But then there is the fantastic banter. I really love that.
