Like many others, I’m a little obsessed with the enneagram. I especially like to read up on my type (2), my wing (1) and my husband’s type (5). I find it fascinating and I like to learn new things. This was a short listen and though it was good, it was nothing I hadn’t heard before. I would recommend to someone newer to the enneagram, but for those already familiar with it, I would probably pass.

Wasn't expecting to have so many of my personality traits laid out for all to see but here we are. I actually really liked having the enneagram looked at from a Christian perspective and was able to take a few things away

I have suffered from self-condemnation for a long time. I question everything I do, where my emotions come from, and if people genuinely care about me. This book has restored my confidence in who God has made me to be. My emotions are not bad. They are God-given, and they make me unique and valuable. What I choose to do with those emotions is an indicator of my spiritual health and personal awareness. I know my healthy & unhealthy tendencies, and how they can help or harm me.

This book was so convicting but very encouraging as well. I can be the best version of myself by submitting and surrendering everything to God. I’ve seen flashes of that. However, I tend to rely on my own understanding, and think that I can be a better storyteller than God. In just reading this book, I’ve experienced spiritual and personal transformation. I’m excited to see how the dynamic of my relationships changes moving forward.

At my best, I exemplify humility.. loving others without thoughts of self, while also understanding when I’m needed or not needed. My security does not come from others opinions of me, but from the God who made me. I have everything I need right now, and God will lead me to walk through doors on His timing.

Sometimes I feel like no one truly understands me, or loves me for who I really am. I’m afraid to be close to people for fear of getting hurt or judgement. I no longer have to fear that, because God loves me for who I am. And, the more I know that, the more I’m willing to open myself up to be understood by those I trust. You can’t blame people for not understanding you if you don’t open yourself up to anyone!

What I’ve learned will help me be a better Christian, friend, son, husband, and father. Excited for what is to come!

This 21 day devotional is a great way to learn more about being a Type 2 and how that impacts your life and your relationship with God. It covers the high points and the low points of Type 2s. I really enjoyed this book, each day was brief but it also included questions for readers to make connections, reflections and maybe changes in their lives.

This tiny, but powerful book is meant to be a 21 day devotional with a few pages of reading and some introspective and deeply thought provoking reflection questions. I found that the questions really got to the heart of some of my most challenging attributes of my enneagram type and the way it plays out in my life. It forced me to really take a hard look inward at the good, the bad, and the ugly of myself. The author’s style was warm, engaging and easy to digest. I found myself wondering “how did she know this is how I’ve always felt about this?” I recommend the book if you are a Type 2 on the enneagram to learn more about yourself and the natural gifts and talents that are part of who God created you to be.

The introduction and framework in this book is exactly (word for word) the same in the Type 1 book. For that reason I think this series could have been one single book, with a chapter or section for each of the nine types. I found myself skipping whole parts (although I did read them back to back).

As for the Type 2 content, I was certainly nodding along with the descriptors. It was very convicting at times, given her approach of identifying weaknesses and growing in our personalities, and simultaneously in Christ. I just didn’t take away a lot of practical applications, as I had hoped to.

I did not realize that this book was virtually a devotional. I was honestly expecting a more psychologically-centered view on the Enneagram, but that’s fully my bad.

This book is a quick read that focuses on explaining the Enneagram (specifically type 2) through a God-centered lens. Unfortunately, it was not the book for me. I found that the overall message was “trust in God and his love for you” and it personally was just not what I was looking for. While I understand that for some people that will be exactly what they’ll need to hear, it fell a bit flat for me. If you are looking for a comprehensive guide that can help you through your 2 journey and give you specific recommendations as to how to grow, I would not recommend this one. Now, if you are looking for a way to connect your faith with your personality type then this is a great one!

Biblical lessons can be fairly uniform, but this author curates her ministry for specific Enneagram personalities. This is a stroke of genius. As sinners, we all have different pitfalls, and thus we will be seeking Christ to fill different holes within ourselves. Sermons that are not specific to us may not compel us or resonate with us any more than on a surface level, the same way that medicine on our skin will only sting and burn us if it is treating a wound. By implementing Enneagram, these teachings are tailored to support individual, widely different shortcomings, turning standard teachings into a transformative spiritual journey.

This book hits the gospel right where it hurts, and heals.

This is a good resource for learning and digging deeper into your Enneagram type. I personally appreciate the posture that Beth McCord and her publishers use toward typing and the Enneagram - learning about yourself in an honest and non-judgmental way, and seeking to understand yourself and others in order to grow (not stereotype).

I used the book as a notebook, because there was plenty of room to answer the questions and write out your thoughts. I’d recommend this book (except get the one for YOUR type/number!) for anyone who is relatively new to the Enneagram, who is pretty sure of his/her type or number, and who is wanting to dig deeper and think through some personal growth steps.

I thought that this book was very helpful at explaining lots of things about my Enneagram type and who I am and the place that I operate from as well. I thought it helped me truly evaluate areas of future growth in my relationships with others and how to best navigate my Core Fear, Core Desire and also understand how Christ does fulfill my core Longing. I think that the book does an excellent job at sharing practical tips about what to do in order to fulfill these things, but I think that more practical ideas are always helpful.

I may have had too many expectations for this book that’s I didn’t know I had but I was really let down. Since I am familiar with the Enneagram I knew quite a bit of this information already. I don’t feel that I was challenged in any way and I was hoping for that. I was ready to be done with this devotional and it sadly took me a long time to get through it. I am not saying this can’t be a powerful tool to someone else, it just was not that for me.

This is a very simple journal style devotional that explains the Enneagram really clearly! It really helped me get back to the basics of being a 2 and recognize unhealthy habits in myself. It's clear that this series was made through McCord writing basic text that is used in every book in this series and then inserting little specific tidbits about a particular type. I wish it had been more specific to the 2, but it was still really helpful!

I loved all the personality traits provided and how the enneagram connects to faith in Christ- I just thought it was a personality test concept! Would’ve been a higher rating cause it was a helpful, short and sweet guide to the type 2 enneagram, but since I’m not a big fan of journaling in books, the amount of space taken up with repeating questions wasn’t the best in my opinion. However, still enlightening and beneficial🤍

Love the walk through of the triads and the different paths to help learn more about yourself in both negative and positive ways, ultimately growing to be who you are made to be. I also really enjoyed the reflection questions. I would totally recommend to someone who is looking to learn how to apply the Enneagram to their life not just learn what it is.

I really enjoyed the daily journaling about the different aspects of my personality type. It gave greater, in-depth detail into how my thinking tends to go and gave good, Biblical insight into how to take those pitfalls and turn them into warning signs on how to reassess and change my thinking so that my mental health can be stronger and healthier.

I liked using this as a daily devotional. It was pretty basic in explaining things about the enneagram and I wish it had been a little meatier. It’s great for someone who just figured out their type.

This book is written as a 21 day journey & includes sections of journaling. I find it is more helpful for me to completely read through it & then go back to the questions.
Great insight specifically for type 2s & many thought provoking questions.
