Tonya Dalton has written an intricate and intimate book that will change the way you look at your life and the way you "DO" life. It will have you re-evaluating what your priorities truly are and what you should be placing in utmost importance on a daily basis. She has woven the book together by sharing relatable stories of her life and tactical tools that you can implement immediately that make a real difference. I loved each one and found myself nodding along in agreement as well as ...more

Everyone talks about the power of YES but what about the power of NO? We fill our days because we feel better about ourselves and our productivity if we can check off the boxes but are, we accomplishing the things we want to be doing or merely just doing to do?

As I continue my Bookstagram journey I continually ask myself am I happy? Does my account still reflect my purpose or have I lost focus? I

This book is well written, well structured, well organized. The author not only has created a prescriptive, well developed plan for living more by doing less, she also provides free youtube videos, handouts, a discussion guide, and podcasts around her passion of teaching people how to be productive over busy, to embrace a growth mindset, find their purpose/north star, values, rhythms, and grow better at making the choices needed to embrace a life of joy rather than being overwhelmed and ...more

JOMO is a gift for women at all ages and stages of life. As a recent retiree who spent many years feeling frantically busy, the temptation to “stay busy” presents itself constantly. This book challenges all the assumptions and “stories” that glorify “busy-ness.” Tonya Dalton has done a masterful job of reframing our paradigm of productivity. My personal mission statement involves living with purpose and striving for wellness. Thanks to Tonya, I can fulfill that mission on my own terms without ...more

I've been a Tonya Dalton fan for a while, using her individual tips to become more focused on my priorities. Having all those tips along with relatable stories gathered together into a system in this book is awesome.

If you're stuck in busyness or trying to prioritize everything and everyone, this is the book for you.

Be prepared for some deep work and getting real with yourself and your goals. When

The Joy of Missing Out not only helps you to decide what is important to you, but how to schedule your time to get the most important things done.

The book is divided into 4 sections. Each one builds on the others and the further I got into the book, the more the concepts started to click. I love that Tonya doesn’t just tell you what to do, she tells you how to find what is right for YOU, because we each have our own lives and struggles and passions. We have to find our own “yes” and she tells

Tonya Dalton gets it- women are overworking, overstressing, and scheduling themselves to the max. While we may praise this”getting it all done” mentality in our society, I see it’s creating a phenomenon where the women doing it all are forgetting about creating a meaningful life where they feel productive AND satisfied. This book gives concrete guidance on how to miss out on things and find joy in the life that you plan with purpose. I cannot wait to implement the strategies in the book to my ...more

In the Joy of Missing out, Tonya shares practical advice from her real-life, authentic experiences of what happens when we try to do all the things and find ourselves in a vicious cycle of trying to be everything to everyone in learned helplessness. Her inspirational and relatable teaching style combined with her innate talent for eliminating the clutter in our minds and lives will be sure to transform your life as it did mine. I highly recommend that you joyfully miss out on everything listed ...more

The Joy of Missing Out encourages you to live your best life! It’s very relatable and goes way beyond “just another professional development book”. This book is uplifting and provides actionable tasks that allow the reader to create a system that is personalized. I found myself smiling and nodding as I read because this message is one that women really need to embrace! It is so refreshing to read a professional development book FOR women, written BY a woman.

Clear and practical steps to focus in on your goals rather than making decisions on the fly. She has a well thought out path that anyone can follow and lots of additional resources to bring this book's suggestions to reality. I'll be going back to this one to do all the exercises and a more in-depth reading.

As a LiveWELL Method course alumni, I know a bit about the content launching October 1st! Without giving anything away, I can say that I rate this book 7 out of 5 stars. I don't normally read this kind if the book - I'm a nonfiction person. But I know the company and when it offered a free copy for pre-release I wasn't going to turn down a free book. I have nerd cred to keep up.

Not in book form, but I do make a professional study of productivity and planning methods. I'm ambitious and if there's a way to work better and smarter count me in. Rather have skills you don't need then lack those you do.

But this book was far more about finding what you're even working

I'm a magician... you know a wife, mom, full-time employee, daughter, friend, school and church volunteer, neighbor, and in charge of morning carpool... just a few things. Not much. Tonya describes me over and over again in her book, The Joy of Missing Out: Live More by Doing Less.

Because of her, I am now a recovering To Do List junkie. Before reading this book the only way I felt like I was truly accomplishing anything was by crossing off a task on my list. I'm one of those people who would

Tonya has a way of communicating in a clear, focused voice strategies for organization that actually make life easier, not more crazy. I can't wait to read about her ideas on how to regain focus on things that matter in our, friends, spending time doing the things we love, etc. Looking forward to going on this journey!

Tonya Dalton has put together a novel full of stories and relatable content while also placing nuggets of gold here and there for us to find. Scratch that. The book is actually pure gold. She knows exactly what we as women experience on a daily basis and tells us there is a better way. A way to find our purpose and be able to give our all to others in the best way possible. I have loved Tonya's InkWell Press planners for a few years now as well as her Productivity Paradox podcasts and monthly liveWELL FB challenges. Being a recovering perfectionist (or trying to be), I loved the real talk and saw myself in many pages of this book - and the book provides the tools to change my mindset to free myself to live a more joyful life - the one I want - where life isn't controlling me, but I am in control of my life.

I received an advanced copy of this book, but my rating and opinion are my own. I felt like this book was written for me. I struggled with feeling like I wasn’t doing enough to be there for others and support others, and it would only hurt my family. This book had so many moments that made me feel the (self imposed) weight lifting off my shoulders. If you have trouble saying no or feel like you can’t ever enjoy anything because you’re always on the go, this book is the perfect answer for you. ...more

This book is changing the lens I use to view my life. It’s not just a productivity book, it’s a tool for discovery and renewal.
I recently finished another wonderful book where the author spoke in the abstract about the topic. Not Tonya Dalton. She’s speaking directly to me and women like me. The book is an easy read - like a conversation between friends.

NOTE: After I had pre-ordered the book, I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I am a fan of Tonya's planners and podcasts and received an advanced copy of this book as part of her launch team. While some may say this is just another productivity book, I disagree. Tonya breaks things like automation of tasks down and made me feel like I could implement change immediately. I think most women can benefit from her approach to quit trying to be everything to everyone and start focusing on what is really important to you. I know I have!

I'm starting to think that perhaps I should stop reading productivity/self-help books. Because they're all starting to sound the same after a while.

If you're very new to the productivity world, if you're a young mom, if you're already a fan of Tonya Dalton and inkWell Press... you'll probably like this. It's not a bad book. Tonya has a certain, gentle way about her that I think will resonate most with

I've been listening to Tonya Dalton's podcast, The Productivity Paradox, for a good while now. When I was offered an advanced copy by the publisher for an honest review, I jumped at the chance because a) I really enjoyed her approach to time management and productivity and b) I select materials for the library where I work and wanted to see if this was a title I wanted to add to our collection.

I love that this book is like a step by step guide for getting it together - while also letting you know it’s not about work/life balance anymore… it’s about finding the harmony between the different areas of your life. It doesn’t matter who you are or what roles you play at work or home or personally. This book can help anyone no matter what they’re going through.

Loved this book! It has such practical advice and suggestions. It has set me up for success in finding my “North Star” and living a life I love. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to find focus and purpose in their life.

I received an advance reader’s copy from the publisher for review.

I found chapter three most helpful, particularly as it related to mission, vision and core values. I also appreciated the idea of a “North Star” to determine your guiding principles for how your energy is spent.

Her writing style is easy and conversational.

I’m far less overwhelmed and desperate than her target audience but still gleaned some useful things to incorporate into my already-functioning system.

This book is more than your average read. It's an experience, paired with a robust discussion guide, email companion series, and additional resources. Tonya has a way of speaking directly to the reader, no matter where they come from or who they are. Her techniques are approachable and come from a place of extreme honesty and vulnerability. This is not a book that will make readers feel inadequate. This will bust your myths and get you closer to your ideal day and life.

I've spent my entire life as a perfectionist. I've always been busy doing "all the things" for all the people. All the people except myself. Not yet 40 years old and I am tired of feeling overwhelmed with all that I feel needs to be done.

As I sat and read The Joy of Missing Out: Live More by Doing Less, I felt like Tonya Dalton had written it just for me! She delivered some tough love, but I needed to hear it. “Productivity is not about doing more. It’s about doing what’s most important.” Thanks
