So, the title of this book might be akin to click-bait. But at the same time, it's all true and really, there's even more to it than that simple title can summarize!
I actually enjoyed this book more and more as I went along. When I first started reading, it felt like it was a few sermons turned into a gift book. But the more I read, the more I saw the slow detailed teaching expanding on the understanding of holy Communion.
And even though this book *is* about taking communion to receive healing (at its most basic level), as I read I forgot it was about healing. Because it was really about JESUS. It was about how Jesus loves (LIKE REALLY LOVES) us so much. How his death on the cross didn't just buy us a ticket to heaven. But how Jesus, the Son of God, loves me (currently!) and died for MY complete wholeness, for MY full redemption from sin and the world.
This book was really beautiful, full of Scripture, personal testimonies and as I read, my main emotion was RELIEF. It was a relief to read about how much God loves us--how He desires good for us. It's so simple but I think it's easy to think that we're just supposed to trouble through life alone and hope maybe thru the roll of some holy dice, we'll catch a break every once in awhile.
Holy Communion is not just a tradition that's held on from ancient times. It's not just a simple act we do at church once a month. It is PROCLAIMING what Jesus did on the cross--to our spirit, soul and body. And to the enemy.
Because of reading this book, I've started taking Communion daily with my regular Bible reading. Not as a ritual or magic steps, but as an act of faith, a reenactment and like a banner waving in front of my life showing off the supremacy and greatness of Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross.
I always measure spiritual books on what my response is afterwards--do I love Jesus more? Do I want to dive into Scripture anew? If so, it's a worthy book. THIS is one of those books.
I can see some people being skeptical because they have an aversion to the "health-and-wealth gospel". I say, read this book and look up the Scriptures. See how God speaks to you.
Regardless, taking a step to recognize Communion as more than juce-and-crackers will be a life-changing step in your spiritual life.
"The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is MY BODY, which is FOR YOU, do this in REMEMBRANCE of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the NEW COVENANT IN MY BLOOD; do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." (2 Corinthians 11)

This book is amazing as all of Joseph Prince’s books are. The revelations given to him by God are impacting lives all over the world. It definitely has mine. This book is life changing. Every believer should have this book to know and learn what the Holy Communion is all about and how it is so very important! I can promise you that you will never be the same and you will be so glad you got the book. Worth every penny spent.
WOW, what a mind blowing to know the depth of Holy communion. I m so glad to know the truth, it's all there in the Bible. I double checked, although I read through my Bible every year yet I missed that important part. IT's a must to read.
Incredible insight and encouragement concerning the significance of Jesus‘ words to his disciples (and Paul’s words later) about the communion. Additionally, this book is probably the most incredible teaching I’ve ever heard heard about the significance of the communion and how it is tied to everything that Jesus went through on the cross. They aren’t coincidences. A wonderful and life affirming book. I will read this book again and again. I find that I have that sentiment about lots of Joseph Prince’s books. Curious.
I received this as a present from a friend and while I am not Christian or part of New Creation Church, I decided to read it to honour the kindness of my friend. At first, I was excited as I thought this was some combination of religion and diet with inclusion of recipes and how eating well would benefit. It was not. The play on words was deceiving because the author does not mean real food but spiritual food we cannot actually eat.
This book was much more wordy compared to the previous books I have read by Joseph Prince. Those were mostly collections of quotes from the bible and could be finished in a few hours. But this book took much longer. I did not have much motivation to read it even though it was 300 pages. The language switched between preachy (pun intended), humble and odd. I could tell the author was trying to come from a place of honesty and not trying to appear condescending. I liked that the author explains what communion means and what it does not eg misconceptions. But using phrases like "your daddy god" creeped me out.
There were many testimonies of people within the church and from US who were healed. As someone who is not part of the religion, I tried to think how it could be explained by science.
How could these people's tumours and ailments disappear?
While the author is careful and says that miracles eg instant healing are rare and healing often takes time and perseverance, It almost seems impossible for a tumour to disappear. I felt like the fact that these people believed they were healed already was very powerful and could work outside of religion because our mind is so powerful.
Could the positive mindset have aided the body to heal itself?
Aspects of being part of a religion can be applied universally such as having a community of people support you and being positive. But I do realise how powerful it can be to have a community of people and family partaking in similar actions. It feels hopeful and reassuring. Like strength in numbers. After all humans find safety in numbers. It can feel nice to think that there is this otherworldly omnipotent fatherly figure watching over you and that there is a reason for everything. But I feel it takes our power away.
But I do see the negative aspects of this type of religion because the way the author writes can be seen as spreading fear. The believers are special, they have a right to abundance, health and healing because they worship a higher power in other worlds, they receive preferential treatment. They are considered special and separate from the rest of us. The author writes that humans are considered a "fell" creation meaning to me, bound to fail. While the author does say that medicine and a healthy diet can help, the focus is still on religion and I don't agree that food cannot be relied on for healing.
I think that this would be more meaningful to someone who is part of the church or Christian because a "non believer" would find so much rebukes and arguments for what is written here. After all, this book is the interpretations of the bible verses by the author. Thus, it is very subjective. But there are some lessons to be learnt.
A wonderful book to read and to have a fresh perspective about the holy communion. Redrawing the point to realise that overindulgence in worldly diets can not liberate us completely. God's ways are simple but powerful so it's beneficial to depend on Godly ways. it's more about revelation and devotion, not just blind and mechanical practice. Also, the writer took the necessary steps to answer all the doubts that we get while reading the book in the end. Seeking and knowing the hidden things in the Word is an absolute blessing.
This was a great read. I took my time with it and allowed the words on the pages to seep into my heart. I loved all the testimonies in this book, they really encouraged me and reminded me again and again how great our God truly is. I loved all the explanations based on the original Greek words and what they mean for us today. Even though I’ve been taking holy communion, this book fueled me with faith and has helped to give me a heart revelation of the posture to receive from the Lord.
This book contains a powerful revelation on communion! If you are familiar with Joseph Prince's work then you will find this book to be in a similar vein as the rest of his messages. This is an expand explanation about being healthy through holy communion which the author before published in a quick read. You want to read this book until finished including the appendixes.
The Holy Communion is not just something we do at church in a routine. It is good that we know the Communion is an act of remembering the Lord but it is so much more than that. Just like how through eating, sickness and death came through Adam and Eve (because of sin), it is also through 'eating' that we get our healing, blessings, and provision.
The Holy Communion reminds us of what Jesus has done for us and what it means for us now. Sin and sickness shall not have dominion over us for we are now healed by Jesus' stripes. Any kind of sickness and disease has been laid upon Jesus as He took every single beating. He was whipped until there was no skin visible on His body. And because of that, we are healed.
There's so much I have learned from this book and I am especially blessed with the testimonies that come with the lessons. It's so wonderful to read how the Lord works in the lives of our brothers and sisters all around the world, each with a unique situation. Truly, He is our Jehovah Rapha.
A thoughtful (and sometimes pleading) examination of The Lord's Supper, and the nuances behind partaking in communion. And while the title makes it sound like some sort of religious-flavored diet program... that's not what this is at all. (Thankfully!)
I had heard some of Prince's preaching, but this was my first taste of his writing. Prince's writing style is straightforward--simple, accessible word choices and a kindly, sincere tone. He's a bit repetitious, but only in a reinforcing sense. And his use of scripture is supportive without being cherry-picked.
He certainly got me thinking of communion differently than as the occasional symbolic gesture I regretfully have seen it as for much of my life. Really, his primary point is that we ought to be partaking in it OFTEN. (Which, at the bare minimum, there's no harm in doing.) But then he offers testimonies from his own life, and from numerous others, attributing rapid recoveries and inexplicable healings to the deliberate and regular taking of communion--not as a magical act, but as a means of focusing on God's promises and power.
Not new information, but differently presented. It gave me a lot to consider and study--for which I am grateful.
I really enjoyed this book. Full of testimonies and scandalous truth of the Gospel. By his stripes we ARE healed and we look at Jesus.
highlight for me: Moses lifted up the snake. It’s Jesus. He became sin. He chose to crush himself and separate from the Father, and it pleased him to do so- bcuz of his great love for us. He was willing to pay the greatest price so we could have wholeness. The darkness of the snake represents all the grossness that tries to plague us: sickness, religion, addiction, hurt, plague, problems. We look at Jesus. He has paid the price and it’s the greatest gift for us to freely receive and behold.
This is the natural progression after reading Health and Wholeness through the Holy Communion. It is longer but it was never detached of its mission in spreading the personal love of God to me as a reader and daughter. It also provides practical answers in the conduct of holy communion, even at home, by myself, as a family or as a community. It has heightened the revelations of a loving God who desires for me to live life in abundance and full vitality. Personally, Holy Communion has seen me through my own journey with covid, and by Jesus' stripes, I am healed.
This book gave me a deeper revelation of the price Jesus paid at calvary. He tore the veil that separated us from God. What a blessing He gave is through communion, to be set free and receive everything we might need pertaining to life in Him. I enjoyed reading this book as it opened so much more of the scriptures we know. May we never get used to the Lord, but keep on growing in His love and glory.
Don't be misled. This isn't a book about nutrition and exercise. Prince asserts his belief that the sacrament of communion releases the healing power of God. Well written, but I didn't buy the premise though. Prince is guilty of eiegesic interpretation of the scripture passages he sites. A good book about poor theology.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was like a guided study into the meaning of the Communion. The testimonies add a pragmatic aspect to a spiritual phenomenon. Joseph Prince is consistently on point as usual. I always enjoy his teaching. The book is focused, precise, and Joseph Prince is rightly dividing the word of truth.
I'm still chewing what's in this book (no pun intended! 😂). There is SO many powerful truths in each chapter. Communion, like with anything, comes down to an intimate relationship with Jesus. This book helps you do to just that :) Highly recommend! And look forward to sharing my husband's healing testimony!
