Faith Forward Family Devotional: 100 Daily Bible Devotions to Help Kids, Teens, and Parents Study Scripture and Grow Closer to God (with Prayer and Discussion Q's) - Perfect Family Christian Gift
Do you need a devotional to help connect your family? With 100 devotionals, Faith Forward Family Devotional by authors Patrick and Ruth Schwenk equips parents to raise faith-filled kids who know, love, and live for God. Somewhere between diapers and sippy cups, piano lessons and soccer practice, dating and college searches, even the most well-intentioned family can lose sight of creating a God-centered home. As parents of four, pastor Patrick Schwenk and his wife, Ruth, of The Better Mom blog, understand the challenges--and importance--of raising faith-filled kids. You've passed down to your kids your last name, your love, and maybe your sense of humor or favorite hobbies. But have you passed down the most important your faith? Faith Forward Family Devotional helps you grow closer to your kids as they grow closer to God. Whatever season of parenting you are in, sharing this devotional time together will help your children nourish a faith that lasts a lifetime.

The publisher and artist have done a grand job on the design of this book of devotions for the family. First, it is well made with sturdy hard cover and binding and the pages are nice and sturdy as well. The cover is beautiful in a gentle, lovely fashion and the background of the cover is a moonlit night and a family silhouetted. The title "Faith Forward" I believe might have been selected primarily because the aim of having family devotions is to share the faith of the parents with their children. Sort of a "pay-it-forward" idea. Quite appropriate.
The inside of the book is primarily text with just a few colorful corner images. The Scripture for the day's lesson is nicely explained without being too theologically deep yet covering enough that it is fitting for older children (and parents) as well as being understandable for younger family members.
The devotionals themselves also include a brief prayer and a "key idea" as it connects to the subject. I especially liked the devotional on page 100 - "God Is Holy" because I think that we sometimes don't stress to ourselves and to those in our care that God is Holy and should be worshiped with our whole heart. He is sinless. He is perfect. He is mighty. He is Holy.
The devotionals also cover the beginning at Creation. God's love. Love. Compassion. And many others. A total of 100 devotionals. The title of the first is "God Creates," and the title of the last is "A New Heaven and A New Earth."
I think this is a lovely family devotional book and one that will be a joy and pleasure to use.

I love this Devotional because it has interactions between children and their parents. I love the discussion time and that is gives questions to discuss after the devotions are read. There is also help for prayer time. It gives a sample prayer to pray together, or you can just pray the prayer they have here. I would add that anyone can pray that wishes to as well.
Now a bit about the book itself. The blue color is beautiful, with the nighttime scene on the cover. It all make you feel like its night, and time to read about God’s word together. You will also find Bible passages for each devotion. And the pages are thick, shiny and durable. And it even has a front page you can gift it to someone. This beautiful Devotional book would be an amazing gift to a family. This is one I highly recommend!
A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
Devotions books have always been a favorite genre of mine, whether it is a family style devotion book, whether personal, or even something my husband and I can work on together.
When I received my copy of Faith Forward a family style devotion book, my first thought was how pretty it was. Is this important? No. In the big picture what it looks like outside is not nearly as important as what is inside. However, I love a pretty book! I love a book that looks inviting, and this one does!
Once I looked through it and read through some devotions I concluded the that time and effort put into the cover goes throughout the book! The gorgeous look of the book is just the beginning! It is a gorgeous book throughout and the content is even better! Each little devotion (and the book contains 100) is a quick read based on a subject example : “When a job seems to big. Numbers 14:9” – this little story talks about the faithfulness of Caleb and Joshua when they spied on the promised land. After the devotion there are some discussion questions and then a prayer section. Also is a Key Idea corner with a central point.
This little book is really a great book for family devotions, it is simple and focused. It allows mom or dad or both, to spend a few minutes with the family each day bringing the focus back to the Lord and all that he is teaching us through his Word.
Even though my kids are older now, this is still a book I could see using with them! One thing I have learned is that my kids still love to listen to me read to them, and I would love to make this book a regular book we read, especially this winter by the fire!
NOTE: I received a copy of Faith Forward in exchange for an honest review.
Faith Forward Family Devotional has 100 devotions for families with children of all ages. I love the layout of the book: a verse, a reading to do out loud, a key idea, discussion questions and a prayer to end with. It also has further study bible references. This is not only a great devotional to bring Jesus into your everyday life, but it also gives you a jumping-off point if you want to use these as prompts for larger studies. I love the idea of doing the devotional one day and looking into further verses the next day. (or week, or however long it takes to fully understand!) This book is beautiful from the cover to the thick floral pages. It is a joy to own and use. I was blessed to get this to review from Zondervan.
