Rumours, ruin and relatives…

After travelling to Derbyshire with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner, Elizabeth ends up visiting Pemberley, the estate of the man whose proposal she so thoroughly rejected only weeks ago.

My first thought upon reading this book is that two of its pivotal images in the beginning scenes are taken directly from the 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. These small snippets are extended into a longer story that differs from canon. The first image is of Elizabeth running pell-mell down a path at Pemberley during her trip to the Lakes with the Gardiners; in the series, she was just running down a lane near Longbourn. The other image from the series is the Infamous one of Darcy going ...more

Delightful

Well written, fast paced, low angst, lovely P&P variation. I love the inclusion of scenes from both the BBC Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle and the 2005 Keira Knightly/Matthew Macfayden Pride and Prejudice movies (although I missed “incandescently” in the final paragraphs). Last Catherine is truly horrid- I half expected her to tear Elizabeth’s wedding dress a la Cinderella in one scene. This was the first book I have read from this author and excitedly look forward to reading more.

a fun Austen PP adaptation

I admit it, I am a sucker for Jane Austen adaptations. I read all of them, the good, the bad, the great, and all of the phases in between. This one is on the good scale for me. I like it. It was fun and different and fresh. Haha, a forced engagement because of an embarrassing situation. I love it. It was for sure a fun adaptation.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lovely

An interesting variation of author Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice. Veers off from canon storyline bit is still enjoyable

Anne-Marie Grace loves everything historical. She has been a fan of Pride and Prejudice ever since she was a teenager and has read the book more times than she can count. She loves to dream up alternative scenarios for our dear couple and has recently started putting these ideas to paper. Her only hope is that people would like to read them as much as she loves to come up with them!
