This general, multidisciplinary text provides an overall explanation of the building process through an examination of underlying principles as well as design examples.
What a great book for a non-architect and non-engineer! The book breaks buildings down by the systems at work. Plumbing, electricity and other obvious elements, but there are systems there you may never have thought about or known the science involved, for example: insulation, humidity control and use of ambient light. The information is easily understood and gives the reader a good understanding of the systems that work together to create dwellings. I found that once I understood the scientific concepts I was able to think about improvments I could make to my house. Opens a new door on the four walls that suround you.
