I purchased this as an ebook from Amazon.
Wow. I'm normally more a paranormal fan than science fiction but wow, I loved this book.
I new something more was going on with Finn at first I thought maybe he'd been captured and turned against the group I didn't expect it to be what it was. And the revelation of Freya's shall we say 'Gift'. I'm going to be reading book 2 The Dark Legion ASAP

It seems that 99% of YA books are futuristic/dystopian-type stories (a good deal of which also include vampires)
This book is a bit different in that it has been a long time since I found a good alien story.
I got this book for free on Amazon.com via alerts from bookbub.com
Fortunately, the second book is also available!!! So no waiting :)
Fighting but no real "violent content".
No sexual references or content that I can remember.
Little to no foul language.
A good read. ...more

I'm glad I got a free copy of this book off Amazon. I'm not a big sci fi fan but the premise of aliens running plantations and breeding humans appealed to me. Unfortunately, every aspect of this book was poorly executed. I did not like the main character. All she did was whine. Even though it was written in first person I never felt close to Tick. I never really felt the pain or any emotion for the group of special teens the 12 Saviors.

I must admit that although I used to be a science fiction fan, reading the sci-fi greats like Arthur C Clark or Asimov, it's quite some time since I've read anything in that genre. Partly because I'm a bit out of touch and partly because I didn't want to be disappointed, I wasn't sure about downloading this one. However, I'm glad I gave it a go as it was a pleasant surprise for me. The plot was interesting, the writing style was refreshing and engaging, the author managed to keep me involved all

I liked this. It's a bit different in the way it is expressed through the first person, although I have read books done in this way before, a lot of them don't pull it off very successfully.
I liked the characters, the way their fears are expressed, and the dynamics that are always evident when a small team is forced to work exclusively together. The pace is kept fairly well, and keeps you waiting and guessing how the culmination is going to unfold.
I'm looking forward to reading the next novel. ...more

Well, first off, I'm not the best "reviewer", but I'm learning, because some books are worth the effort! so, PLEASE, be patient with me! Saying that, since I'm here after reading The Plantation by Stella Samiotou Fitzsimons, means that this book, apparently, is worth writing a review for! So....here it goes >> lol.

Freya is just a girl... a girl that just happens to live in a world enslaved by an army of aliens. In her world children like her are taken as slaves in places called plantations. In these plantations they are guarded by the aliens "pets", which they call the sliman. Possessed with superhuman abilities the sliman created an inescapable environment for the children... or so they thought. Frya and Finn both have escaped their plantation, Plantation 9. With the help of other kids who have escaped t

Excellent book! The Plantation is unique, I haven't read anything like it. The writing was remarkable, the characters were entertaining, and the storyline was phenomenal. It kept me turning the pages until I read the very last line.
This story reminds me Lost in the fact that the Saviors are hiding out in abandoned buildings, hoping that they won't be discovered by the Sliman and aliens.

Oh surely, not another book I forgot to review. thought there were two but then there were four.
A free book from the Mighty Amazon Book-forest but nonetheless a worthy find for the inner teen.
A future Earth, an enslaved Humanity, a mysterious Alien Race, an enclave of Human Escapees.
Sounds like a good basis for an epic Sci-Fi tale of Humanity's fightback against the Alien intruders.
Reads like a coming-of-age story of hormonal teens lost in a world they barely understand.

This book was pretty good. I liked the story line, and each of the characters had a personality to know them by. A problem I had with this book was that most of it was the characters fighting amongst each other. There was more talking than action, but the fighting created tension and angst which led to action, so it was still good. I got this book through a giveaway here on goodreads and I am glad I did. It was a good book and I had fun reading it. Also, the ending was something I was not expect

At the beginning of the book I felt a little lost, like I was dropped in to an on-going series, this perhaps being the second or third book. A few things get cleared up as the book progresses - through flash backs - but I still felt like I was missing a few things. Anyhow, narration is 1st person from Freya's POV, in present tense. This usually bothers me but didn't this time, so kudos to the author.

This was a really enjoyable read and a concept that for me personally, hasn't been done to death.
I liked the writing style and the characters are all quite individual and have distinct personalities. I felt there was a sufficient amount of world-building for the first in a series and it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger which is always good.
The only negative is that the tone seemed to shift very dramatically from one chapter to the next quite near the end. I suddenly felt like I was reading a comp ...more

At first, starting this book, made me feel a little wary - I do love science fiction books, and this one had an extra dystopian approach. I was not anticipating it would suck me in - I had started it, then dropped it bc of obligations, and when I restarted it, I ended up finishing it in a day and a half! It was very interesting to follow the whole story - and explaining Slimans in an unobtrusive way was pretty good, and also see how the rogues were set up and trained, and the new names they woul

Aliens vs. Humans
In this book you will see action and budding romance in a series that I would call apocalyptic sci-fi. What I enjoyed is the enduring relationships that characters have forged, but I believe their could have been room made more character development especially among the main characters. Hopefully, this will be remedied in the next book. (A swear word or two mentioned for those sensitive to vulgarity.) I still give this book 5 stars because I was so enthralled with the action and ...more

The Plantation book 1
Talk about an alien invasion! I find myself hooked on the storyline and most of the characters. I have tons of questions and some I am not sure I could rightfully say I should get the answer to, it could detract from the mystery and suspense in the book. But I can't help wonder when did this invasion happen exactly? Who are these aliens really? I know some of questions will eventually be answered, so here comes book two! ...more

I truly enjoyed this book. It is a new take in alien invasion with a twist, and the trust is what makes it so enjoyable. The pace is great and moves you through the story quickly. The plot is very good keeping you glued to the book
The characters are a unique mix that really complement each other well. Freya is a different and unique heroin and is extremely likable.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and will have to buy the next one.

what a great start to a great series. The characters are wonderfully real and believable. the storyline is thoughtprovoking and engaging. there are a few hiccups where the writing jumps to a different unrelated thought sometime but it was an annoyance rather than put me off of the series. I love Freya. she is strong, loyal, vulnerable, broken, impulsive, and extremely likeable.
