Egh!

It was a okay read. Started off slow and didn't start to really pick until chapter 12.. But just when I thought this was going to turn out being a good read the author goes left and falls off back to boring and slow... This is the first time I've read anything from this author and sad to say my last. I hate how she writes in third person, which causes me not to be able to connect with the hero or the heroine. Then she combined 2 book onto one as a mesh up.. Just everything about this series was a turn off...

Overall Rating:
2* ~ A Okay Read

Part one was ok but it lacked passion n connection between the two mcs.

In the end I got bored and dnf

For me the whole biker trope was just to catch into the mc biker bandwagon. Nothing mc about them other than they ride bikes.

Nope not for me. Stick to one trope/genre n do it well!

This is a new series focused on a motorcycle club called the "Road Devils", comprised of shifters, vampires and warlocks. Their bad reputation is a front for what they really do – they save the innocent from exotic trafficking and other injustices. This review briefly covers the first two episodes.

PART 1:
Helena Anderson stepped into the dim lighting of the bar and noticed the walls were dirty and had a smattering of blood here and there that spoke of its sordid history. It was the same bar where her sister and a young blonde girl had disappeared two weeks earlier. Supernatural creatures hung out here, most actually “halves”: half-vampire, half-shifter, half-warlock, half-witch. They were bastards not acknowledged by the pure supernaturals and left to survive on their own. She sat there sipping her drink and listening to the conversations, waiting to find someone who was a pure supernatural and not a half. The bartender tried to warn her to just go home for her own safety. But her sister was her only remaining family. Then she saw the bartender stiffen as his eyes moved past her to the door. A pale, handsome man walked up beside her, and she forced herself not to flinch at the vampire who was suddenly at her side.

Helena left the bar with the vampire and, before she realized his intention, he was biting her neck, her last thought of how she hoped this wasn’t her last day alive. She woke, chained on a couch – and getting her nails filed?? The girl doing her nails told her Lord Jasper had saved her life and she would now be his servant. She wasn’t sure what that meant, but she followed instructions and took a tray to the last room in the south wing.

When Helena meets a vampire named Archer, a member of the motorcycle club “Road Devils”, she finds someone who is willing to work with her to find her sister, Lola. Will they save Lola? Will Helena make it out of there alive?

PART 2:
Rebecca Munham worked quickly in the kitchen, cooking up a huge breakfast before the cook arrived. When Martha saw everything and asked about it, Rebecca told her she couldn’t sleep and suggested Martha add to the meal to make it even better. She knew that pleased the cook who liked to feel in charge.

When Rebecca left the kitchen to find other activities to keep busy, she heard familiar voices and a nagging instinct warned her to investigate. She opened a door and ducked as a fireball crashed… and two twin boys, almost 4 years old, tried to explain what was going on as they almost burned down the room. (You are definitely going to fall in love with Timmy and Tommy!) Because they apologized easily about what they had done, she suspected this was not the first “practice room” they had visited… and it wasn’t. So she sent them off to the kitchen to see Martha for their breakfast while she did damage control elsewhere. After breakfast, they would get to apologize again to their leader!

Finally heading to her garden to take care of it, Rebecca heard a scraping sound. She opened the door and saw a tall man with tattoos of little bear cubs on his chest. Lock Damza had always fascinated her because the man was huge with tons of muscles! But that wasn’t what shocked her now – he had blood all over him!

As you can readily see, it’s another busy day for motorcycle club members! This series will introduce us to all of the members (eventually) and we have the joy of seeing the ones we know from earlier stories mingling among them. The story lines are awesome, as is typical for this author. Well-written, exciting, and great world building is offered to the reader. The characters are amazing, even the secondary ones. And those twins, they keep you laughing! Don’t miss this wonderful series. This is the start of an exciting adventure and you’re invited to join the gang!

3.5 stars

Part One - 3 stars
Helena is seeking to rescue her sister so gets herself taken as a servant/slave of a master vampire. While trying to find her sister in the vampire mansion and keep herself under the radar she attracts the attention of Archer, a vampire. Together Helena and Archer seek to topple the vampire slave ring and save Helena's sister. I felt like I was missing too much background on Helena (and to a lesser extent on Archer). Did Helena have a job or something else in her life she left behind to go after her sister? There doesn't seem to be any concern about going back to her previous life, no worry about finding a new job, or any of the other more mundane things I would expect to see. This story felt a little stilted at times (probably that first in a new series drag), more so in the second half of the story than the first.

Part Two - 4 stars
I liked the flow of this story more. Lock and Rebecca have at least a working relationship and then slowly build into a relationship during the story. I think they complemented each other well during the story. I think because both MCs have been at the sanctuary for so long I had less of the issues with missing background that bugged me with the first story. I thought Tommy and Timmy were really cute (even if they came across as really developed for their actual age). The plot flowed well and introduced some more characters that I hope will get their own stories eventually.

With both stories I feel like I might be missing a piece of the world-building that would make some of the rest of the story make more sense. Not sure if I'm missing something in the story or if it is something that will be expanded on in future stories.

Good start to the series...can't wait for more background and pieces to the puzzle.

PART 1:
Helena is in search of her sister, so she must go to places she is not used to in order to seek her out. But when she falls under a spell and wakes up in a different place, she needs to fit in as best as she can and go unnoticed until she can find her sister. But when she meets Archer, all things change. But can she trust a vampire to help her?

Archer is on a mission, and one the Road Devils feel strongly about, but when the smell of lemons distracts him and he finds Helena, can he complete his mission, save her sister and keep Helena for himself?

Together, Archer and Helena are determined to rescue Lola and kill the others. Their attraction is instant.

PART 2:
Rebecca was saved by the Road Devils and has stayed with them ever since. But when she needs help with her twin boys, she gets it from the fellow members. But can she stop long enough to take care of herself too. Rebecca does a lot for the group and the place they live. But will it be enough to protect her and the boys?

Lock is an officer in the MC and Rebecca always thought fondly of him, but he was a bit rough around the edges. But when she finally sees him for who he is, will he accept her and her boys for who and what they are? Will the boys accept Lock and their mother?

This was just a taste of what is to come with the other MC members and I can't wait. The Road Devils want to help and protect but to the outside world, they are just like everyone else....evil!! But the stories and actions of their members are heartwarming, protective and meaningful. The chemistry between the characters is hot and romantic. I can't wait to see what happens next. I like all of the books I've read by this author, so it was no surprise that this book was so very good. The Road Devils are not your run-of-the-mill MC. Their reputation of bad dudes is a cover for what they really do...saving humans kidnapped by paranormals. The first story is how Helena met Archer, VP of the club, while she was looking for her little sister, Lola, who was kidnapped and Archer was investigating a nest of vampires kidnapping, killing and selling humans. Helena is so brave to infiltrate the vampire mansion, but no thought about what she was gonna do to get them out. With Archer's help, they find Lola and escape the mansion. Along the way, Archer finds something he lost with Helena and a new beginning.

The second story is Rebecca and Lock's chance for a future. Rebecca was saved from a demon by the club a few years ago. Pregnant and in bad shape she chose to stay and make her life and that of her twin boys with the Road Devils. Lock is a serious bad-a$$. As Road Captain that is kinda his job. This is the best kinda story. Lock is the kind of guy that everyone is afraid of, but he has that ooey gooey soft spot for Rebecca and the twins. I loved watching the change that came over him while he was helping the twins to focus their energies. Two 3-yr old half demons are more than a handful, but they have plenty of love and adults that care for them. I an so excited and anxious for more of the Road Devils. Tess is the story I am most excited to see. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

This is the beginning of an exciting series. I loved the idea of a world where humans are the minority, trying to survive in a world over-run by witches, shifters, vampires and non-humans!
The Road Devils are headed by a Warlock that most fear but it’s all a front. Really, they help beings – no matter who – that are being sold to the highest bidder. They rescue them and give them a chance at a better life.
Helena deliberately gets enslaved into a Vampire Covento look for her younger sister who has gone missing.
Archer is there undercover to try and stop the Coven and rescue any prisoners.
They have a few misunderstandings to start with then join to their mutual cause.
Rebecca was recued after an attack by a demon left her pregnant with twin boys. They are the light of her life and she would do anything for them.
Lock is a bear shifter that is attracted to her but will not act onit as he sees her a fragile.
The twins, Timmy and Tommy, are a handful and are often in trouble. Lock finds a way to help them use up their energy. Inevitably Rebecca and Lock get together which upsets the boys and then their father appears.
Rebecca is not a fragile flower and proves that as the story progresses and Lock starts to understand this. He is large and hard and thinks he is not good enough for her.
Their relationship is a lovely thing to follow from start to finish.

The Road Devils MC Club is a new series from J S Striker and I have loved the start. In the first story we meet Helena who is looking for her sister Lola who has been taken by a vampire. Helena gets herself taken by Jasper, the vampire that took Lola and gets taken to his mansion which is a front for a vampire coven. There she meets Archer who isn’t all he seems. Together they rescue Lola and Archer takes them back to the MC Club. There is plenty of action and suspense in this first story and we meet lots of new characters.

In the second book we meet Lock and Rebecca. Rebecca was saved by the Devils from a demon who later found out she was pregnant. Tommy and Timothy are her half demon sons and a handful. Lock is a bear shifter and has been on a rescue mission and is injured. He is in the infirmary and needs stitches and Angel, the doctor asks for Rebecca’s help to keep Lock calm. This leads to them feeling a very strong attraction for each other. This is an action packed, very steamy story and I loved every minute. We are certainly kept on the edge of our seats.

Loved the start to what is going to be a brilliant series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but it’s better to be read as a series. Really looking forward to the next instalment. What more can I say, definitely worth the read.

A great start to a brand new series by a favourite author and whats not to love about a book that combines two favourite genres paranormal romance and MC's

The Road devil MC works to protect people been trafficked for the fact that they are supernatural beings. This first installment includes two stories about these red hot alpha supernaturals who will do whatever they need to save others and what happens when they meet the one that completes them
Part One is the story of Archer a vampire who is trying to protect people who vampires are praying on he is almost brought to his knees by a human Helena Anderson who is looking for her missing sister Will the two of them save her sister and will they survive the dramas that are about to overtake them and will he realise that this little human is the woman for him
Part 2
Lock Damza is a bear shifter who has a reputation for been grumpy and hard to live with what happens when he finds a human taken over by a demon and left alone pregnant and abused Rebecca is a human who has been left alone and pregnant what will happen as the chemistry between these two flares

I am looking forward to more wonderful stories in this series Ia totally new take on MC romance

The two end up working together and finding Lola.
Part 2 - Lock and Rebecca

Paranormal Brilliance

How is it possible that I had zero knowledge of J. S. Striker? I could kick myself. I found myself engrossed from the very beginning of Shackles & Redemption. I used to devour paranormal romances all the time and kind of diverted away, however, an opportunity presented itself to read the work of J. S. and I decided to give it a chance. Having said this, I absolutely believe that J. S. now has a brand spanking new fan for life in me. Truly, the depth to both flowing storylines took me in. These two amazingly crafted books put together just floored me. Each of the characters in this MC are captivating and I am at a loss for the right words to describe the incredible brilliance of J. S. as an Author. Please read this book because it is simply perfection.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Shackles & Redemption in exchange for my honest/voluntarily given opinion and I implore all romance, paranormal as well as MC fans alike to read this release. I can not wait to see what is next for this MC.

These are the first 2 books in a new series centered around a paranormal motorcycle club the "Road Devils". The club is made up of shifters, vampires and warlocks. To the outside world they have an evil reputation but this hides their true purpose of saving others from trafficking and other criminal activities. The first book is about Helena who has been willingly taken by a coven of vampires as she looks for her sister and Archer a vampire from the Road Devils who is undercover to destroy the rogue coven. It also introduces the other paranormal members of the Road Devils. Book two continues with the developing relationship between Rebecca, a human with twin boys who are half demons and Lock a grouchy bear shifter. Lots of action and well written characters as always in J S Striker's books. Looking forward to more in the series.

A lot of potential but.....

The reviews for this were pretty good and the story summary sounded interesting so I got it in KU.
There are two stories, first is Archer and Helena and second is Lock and Rebecca.
The biggest cons of these stories for me are the total lack of world building and setting the the scene. The writer just dives right in and you are clueless as to things are supposed to be or why. Frankly from the ways things are set out here, I’m surprised there are even any humans left.
There are quite a few potential triggers here; kidnapping, human trafficking, rape etc. Those are laid out in the summary but the amount of it was more then expected for me.
The grammar and editing errors made it harder to follow.
The characters were the best part for me. There was enough there to get involved with them but just not enough for me to read more.

Shackles
This book took me a hot minute to get into. And by minute I mean chapters. But it was worth the wait. Archer is a vampire that isn’t like the rest in this castle where Helena ends up. He is different enough that she agrees to work with him to help free her sister Lola. They have a dance of kinds as they get closer to each other. It is hot and not lol. But worth the read.
Redemption
This was a great follow up. The twins Timmy and Tommy are way cute 3 year old demons. They are not like human children in the fact they understand way ahead of their age. They cause their mother Rebecca to do some hard thinking in ways for they to keep out of to much trouble due to their energy they have and need to ware off. Lock is a loner and seen as grumpy. But when he notices Rebecca in a mate sense things get really interesting.

gave up after chapter 11

I swear I tried I really truly did. I wanted to finish this book Rebecca’s story and her past was interesting and I wanted to see her rise above her awful, traumatizing past. But I couldn’t care less about her or Lock by chapter 7 . It’s just sooooboring!!! That author did Rebecca’s story a disservice . Look if you were not ready to tell her story you should have waited til you had a good story for her.it was soooooo boring!!!!! Ohmygawd I just couldn’t anymore . I typically devour a book like this in a day or few hours it took me more than a week andi just gave up I stoped caring chapter 7. Gave up chapter 11. Wow .. soooo boring!!! Did I say it was boring ? Snooze fest . It had such potential.. we’re you under fan pressure to get her story done? Cause you should have waited till you had something. Gesh

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Shackles & Redemption by J. S. Striker is the start of something new. Divided into two parts (two distinct stories), we get Archer and Helena's story (Part 1) and Lock and Rebecca's story (Part 2). This book contains thoroughly enjoyable read(s). There is a lot going on... action, drama, humor, hot sexy sex and lots of shifters, vampires, humans, witches... you get it. I love that while each story follows a different couple and their path to love, there are really strong secondary characters that are clamoring to have their stories told. In typical J. S. Striker style, you are going to devour this read, fall in love with the characters and find yourself wanting more!

ROAD DEVILS IS A FASCINATING NEW SERIES!!!

This new series is about an MC Club. Made up of a variety of shifters {bears, vamps, panthers, ect}.
These shifters bad reputations are a cover for their real missions-to save humans as well as other shifters that have been enslaved and used by evil people {Shifters too}
This new world of shifters STRIKER takes you to gives you a bird's eye view into good versus evil.
The characters come alive, the storyline has great chemistry, drama, sizzling love scenes and suspense. This is a great box set!
As always J.S. Striker takes us on a journey we can't get enough of!

JUST ONE BITE IS ALL IT TOOK

Aha everyone this Vampire inspired love adventure story has a lot going on. Lots of interesting intrigue, so much, that it shakes your knowledge about them. In fact, they are scary beings, and that just about covers and includes demons, ghosts, shifters and ghouls. This tale of gore, fights, kidnapping and any other debauchery will throw a kink in your understanding of the other world that must exist somewhere...right??
Walk quickly and careful my friends watch your back, in this case especially your neck. That handsome debonair man who just bought you a drink...BEWARE!!

I have to say that I simply love the way this author builds a world where the impossible and unimaginable are real and deadly. In the start to this series it looks like humans are not at the top of the food chain, but are hot commodities. I enjoyed the mixture of vampires, weres, witches, and wizards...oh and some crazy demons. Really makes for a surprising cast of characters. Lots of action some seriously hot alphas and a great story line with so many more places to go. I cannot wait to see who is up next.

This was a great start to a new series. I totally enjoyed reading both stories and was very surprised since I am not really a MC type of fan. The characters are flawed but it was easy to get into each story and care about what was going on. I do not even like vampires or vampire romance but that Archer, ooh la la. And the second story was sweet and I really adored reading about Timmy and Tommy. I am really looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Two very different stories, but with links to the same organisation that helps to save people from a world filled with paranormals.
We have Helena and Archer, who meet while she is trying to find her kidnapped sister and he has infiltrated a coven of Vamps who have evil tendencies.
Then we have Rebecca, a mother of two half demons, who was rescued from their evil father. And Lock, a massive bear shifter who is drawn to her but worries he will frighten her.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy and am happily leaving a review.

*spoilers* Having read most of J. S. Striker's books I had high hopes for these two books and i was not disappointed. Taking the paranormal and motorbike club topics and intertwining them was truly inspired. Not only does the story flow effortlessly, it grabs you and takes you on a ride with them.
Whether you like paranormal, motorbike club stories or just love J. S. Striker's books, these are the books for you. Then again you could be like me and love all three.

Shackles and Redemption by J.S. Striker is full of grit and emotion. The array of characters is both refreshing and energizing. From beginning to end you will be in an emotional rollercoaster. When the world changed and humans are now in short supply it takes a paranormal MC to help keep them safe. This fantastic world that Me Striker has built is sure to grab his of her readers and take them for a ride. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Shackles & Redemption isn't your typical PNR MC book.

The Road Devils are well known and have a reputation that any human MC would have, the only difference is they rescue non-humans. Witches, shifters, half breeds, you name it, they will rescue them.

I really enjoyed reading this book, there's plenty of chemistry between the characters, great plot and I love the MC twist. You'll get plenty of action, mystery and passion. I couldn't put the book down! I definitely recommend this book!

A great mix of humans and Paranormals .

This a great start to a series . Two stories each with there own couple, the first Archer a vampire and a human Helena . Helena is looking for her sister Lola who was kidnapped by bad vampires. Archer is trying to save the people who were kidnapped.
The second is about Lock a bear shifter and Rebecca and her twins..
Really liked the first but the second was a brilliant read both worth the 5 stars..
Looking forward to reading next book in this Road Devils MC series.
Would recommend.

Just ok, gets better in the second half

I read a lot of shifter romance and enjoy MC stories so this looked interesting. The plot line in Shackles was a great idea and like the premise but wasn't detailed or descriptive enough for me. There was quite a bit of jumping around without smooth transitions. The editing missed lots of grammar corrections as well, kind of felt like a second rough draft. The writing and flow was much better in the second half- Redemption. Enjoyed the character outlines enough to download the second book.

Two great stories in one place they are both well-written stories that held my interest throughout there is no cliff-hanger. The first book is vampire Archer and Helena's story as they try to rescue her sister from evil vampires. The second book is bear shifter Lock and Rebecca's story. Both stories have lots of angst, and action and both kept me turning pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
