In many ways, we’re the same, though. He’s still the scarred boy who touched my heart. And I’m the wounded little bird, whose wings he made fly again.

When was the last time a book ruined you? I'm talking utterly gutted you. Like wrung every single emotion out of you until you were an inconsolable mess only to stitch you back together piece by devastating piece? Because THIS BOOK. Y'all. I was lucky enough to beta read Kings of Carrion a few months back and I STILL

It had been weeks since Calico and the gruesome inhabitants were sealed off. As hope and humanity died out inside the reinforced walls, the escaped survivors clung on the chance of a cure. But to reach it, they must break into the very horror they escaped from without even knowing if it would be worth it.

Reading this book was like immersing myself into two different worlds. Part one was
Somewhere beneath the facility lies the answers, a cure for our suffering. To reach it, we'll have to open the haunting tomb, where man's deadliest mistakes, lie trapped within its tunnels, waiting to be set free.

With this third installment in the Juniper Unraveling series, we are taken back to the hospital in search of Valdys and the cure for the Dredge. Take heed to the warning given at the beginning of this book. Some scenes are brutal. Some so heart-wrenching I sobbed!

So this is the third book in this series and my god what an emotional journey this turned out to be.
This continues the story after that shocking finale with the whole of calico being locked down and Valdys being trapped inside an impenetrable prison trapped within with all those dangerous mutations and Ragers.
Cali who is not prepared to give up on her lover and Alpha scours the deadlands with Alphas Cadmus and Titus and Former Legion Brandon searching for the Skulls, The Rebels she believes can

Kings of Carrion is the conclusion to the Juniper Unraveling series. First of all, I am so happy that the author decided to include Wren and Six' POVs (main characters from book#1 Juniper Unraveling). So we have Cali and Valdys' POV and Wren and Six' as well. Everything came together in this book. It wasn't easy to read because I already knew my heart would get destroyed. This book is about survival and sacrifice. This book was dark and brutal,

Give me competent writing, a tortured hero, and vividly creative world-building, and I'm your fangirl for life. Before this series, I was already a fan of Keri Lake. But these books--these dark, grisly, spine-tingly, romantic, sexy as hell books--not only gave me all the elements I love in literature, they also solidified my admiration and respect for KL's diabolical skill.
What a story she wove. It's smart and unpredictable, thought-provoking and tear-inducing, and at the heart of the savagery

Continuing in the series timeline, the search for answers remains a priority for those who escaped Calico. With a cure possibly being stored underground and the status of Valdys’ condition unknown, Cali and the Alphas, Cadmus and Titus, continue on their path to find those who can gain access. Along the way, they intersect with those who have also endured.

"Are you batshit crazy? Open the doors of Calico? You might as well kill us all now!”

Narrated in dual POV, the storyline shifts between
I love it when an author is bold enough to color outside the lines. Because it's in those wide open spaces, beyond the confining black lines, that the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Enter Keri Lake and Kings of Carrion.

Kings is a devastating, beautiful, and emotional experience that quite literally broke me. Weeks later, I’m still in recovery. I feel a weight on my heart and tears in my eyes whenever I think of it. That’s not to say that it didn’t end beautifully, it did, or that I would have

Kings of Carrion picks up after the doors of Calico have been sealed trapping the evils done inside and unfortunately Valdys. Cali, Titus and Cadmus have been searching for the Rebels for help. I have to say when they finally found Wren and Six I was thrilled, they still remain my favorite couple of this series. The first part of this book was supposed to be calm and full of hope but I'm very familiar with this author so I knew it was only a matter of time before it all feel apart. The second ...more

AHHHH Keri Lake and her stories are always so gripping, raw, edgy and most of all addicting. I am OBSESSED with the Jupiter Unraveling world and could not stop reading Calico Descending until that shocking cliffhanger. But now in Kings Of Carrion, as Cali looks to find Valdys, she is set upon a course with the other Alphas that will forever change her life!

Ahhh! I dieeeeee for this author's words. They are always so compelling that you can't help but picture the stories in your mind and the

Kings Of Carrion is a fucked up yet compelling read. It's brutal, gory and oh so good. I had a hard time putting it down. Even though it had me nervous, scared and anxious to the point where I was tempted to read through the spaces between my fingers I loved it. It's a tale of epic proportions that I can't recommend enough. I know this story and characters will stay with me for some time.

"Evolution is the only means of survival in this world."

Kings of Carrion opens up few months after Calico's doors were sealed. No one knows what is happening behind those closed doors if anyone is even alive. The ones that escaped are going to try anything to get back in. Going in means so much, some want the cure to this illness and others just want their lovers back.

I didn't know that this book would tear my heart out and place something far more fulfilled in its place.

This is the best book I have ever read. End of discussion. I really can’t convey in any kind of words how much I loved this series. Looking back, I simply can’t comprehend how this author has created something so utterly perfect, it has left me completely dumbfounded, yet flooded with emotion. This series has been breathtakingly disturbing in the best, most addictive way, and this book truly was the most perfect ending to such a wild journey.

I seriously can't even...this book, this entire series is something no book lover should pass up.
From the very beginning of Book 1, (Juniper Unraveling) this world is captivating and full of emotion.

Tears and heartbreak, this journey is beautifully tragic, but still full of perseverance, hope and love. I finished Kings of Carrion days ago and still weep when I look at the cover. Book hangover doesn't even come close to describing the imprint of this story on my heart and soul. These characters

This book just devastated me! I fell in love with this series from the first book, and have eagerly read each subsequent book. Once you start reading, you won't want to put it down until the very last page is read. I loved Cali and Valdys, but my heart ached for Cadmus too!! I loved seeing all the characters back together in this final book. I didn't want the book to end, and that's truly the mark of a good book, when it hurts to close it and set it aside at the end, knowing there's no more to ...more

It is official! I’ve read every brilliant book from you, Ker Lake!
Kings of Carrion brought me to my knees more than a dozen times. I wiped out an entire box of tissues, yelled out loud from the top of my kindle, all while slapping the invisible high five for the fierce women who reign among the kings. What an honor to read this book.

After reading Calico Descending I didn’t think Ms. Lake could top it.
But she absolutely did that with Kings of Carrion.
Holy Smokes what a world she created!
This author took me into a world of cruelty and evilness.
Where some hold all of the power while the vast majority fight for their lives.
The scenes and the atmosphere are described with vivid details and precision it felt like I was watching a movie instead of reading a book.
The characters Ms. Lake brings to life stole a piece of my heart.

Keri Lake completely outdid herself with this with this one. After book one we were left with a feeling of 'what's gonna happen next?' Well the conclusion is here and Oh My Goodness the book hangover is gonna be a killer. Make sure to hang on to your kindles, they may end up across the room. The feels that this book evokes is unlike any I have felt in awhile! Without too many spoilers-
We have Calithea’s mission to rescue Valdys from Calico but we also get Wren and Six with a mission of their own. It’s all tied up with going back inside Calico but how do you get inside something that is supposed to be sealed shut? And who can you trust?
There is still huge suspense, many more mutations, and a massive betrayal that you don’t

Third in the series and still just as strong in the storytelling as the first! This series is everything I could want in a dystopian zombie apocalypse thriller.

We get the worlds from Juniper Unraveling and Calico Descending here - Cadmus, Titus and Cali on the hunt for a way to get back to Valdys so naturally they need to locate Wren and Six. SO GOOD.

Do not read this series if you have an issue with gratuitous and unapologetic death, destruction or hard emotions. If you want something in your

What a great ending to this trilogy! I am not one who normally reads "dystopian" themed books. But I was intrigued, so I thought I'd give this series a shot. I am not disappointed. I really enjoyed it and rooted for all of them to make it to the end.

I’m in shock with these stories and with Keri Lake. She has taken me to a whole other world in these books. I’m more of a romance and mystery girl but I have to say I will be reading more of Keri books. What I love about this book is she puts both Wren and Cali together. You also have Cadmus and Titus and the other Hive from Wren and Valdys story.

A five-plus-star rating simply doesn't feel like it's enough for a tale as exceptional as this. Yes, I know; I usually wait till the end of my reviews to mention how I've rated a book, but then there's nothing usual about Kings of Carrion, so why should I do what's usual for my review for it? The bar had been set astronomically high by the first two novels, Juniper Unraveling and Calico Descending, and while I knew what Keri Lake was capable of, I've borne

Kings of Carrion is the third book in the Juniper Unraveling series, and with the underlying story line which keeps twisting & turning throughout, YOU MUST READ Juniper Unraveling (Book 1), and Calico Descending FIRST & IN ORDER!
