“Through the stark and leafless trees, I see her.

I remember the first day I saw her; an instant attraction. I think she’s beautiful. She has such pensive blue eyes; they remind me of a blue sky right before the sun descends. Every time I see her I want to talk to her, I want to get to know her, and I want to be her friend.
She usually completes the lower woodland walk in

Raw. Emotional. Edgy. Suspenseful. Powerful. Addictive.

This is a read you won’t forget in a hurry!

‘Deception’ revolves around a man in the slums of depression after losing his wife. Her death affected him in ways he couldn’t foresee. He never imagined he would find love again.

As luck would have it, he found another woman. After a long time of solitude, depression, and grief, he has found love again. She is all he can think about. In fact, Billy Allen, the protagonist, plans his dog walking out s

He's lost his wife, Cindy and now he doesn't know how he's going to cope. Depression grips him but his mood soon picks up after he meets Eve, a woman with similarities to his wife. Has Billy's life changed for the better?

But, it's right at this point that the love-story ends.

Deception is truly an easy novel to read as well as follow, which is not necessarily a bad thing despite its plot-line. It has intrigue, erotic sex scenes and an ability to just hook you from the very beginning. T.J. Blake'

Amazing novel! Another great read from T.J. Blake. This is the fourth novel from this up and coming writer. 'Deception: A love of Lies' has you gripped from the very first chapter and I really could not put this down. The character and scene depictions really paint the picture in your mind. A highly believable plot line, intriguing characters and twists & turns make this a real page turner. Well done on another great release. I look forward to the next release in the not too distant future. ...more

A book about a seriously emotionally wounded man and a new woman in his life. It kept me reading to figure out who was the evil one, the devious one. I found myself hating the main character, and then the woman. It was hard to figure out and the ending still surprised me and will keep you reading to find out what happens. A good read.

I obtained a copy of this book through the author via @BookTasters in exchange for a full honest impartial review (no spoilers, you will have to read to see what i mean by each one).

Deception is an excellent read full of underlying themes, a powerful, emotional, gripping plot as well as overlying the main theme of deception, full of vivid imagery which brought the story to life in my mind, mind blowing and astounding twists, believe me, when you've read this review with the others here, you'll b

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! It was very well written, told a crazy story with lots of twists and turns and it kept my attention entirely. I read it in just a couple days!
If you're looking for an entertaining read and a cleverly composed story with a twist, I highly recommend Deception. I look forward to reading more from TJ Blake!

I don't often read an entire novel in one sitting, but this one kept me turning pages until 2 a.m.
The story begins with an excruciatingly detailed description of walking in the words. Extremely, minutely, detailed and I thought, ok, get on with the story already!
Then I realized: this was a most central facet of the main character, Bill. It's the first time I have encountered using setting observations as characterization. And it's done brilliantly because Bill's attention to detailed observatio

I love this book! I am a fan of thrillers and mysteries, (horror too). My favorites are the ones that lead you down the psychological pathway. This author knows how to mess with you. I had a hard time figuring out who was doing what and why. That kept me turning pages until 3 in the morning. The book has two main characters, Billy and Eve, with a few minor characters. They were very well written. I really want to talk more about them but am so afraid of giving away more information than you need ...more

I was quite disappointed in the first half becase the novel got boring but the second half was interesting as the twists started unfolding.
Unfortunately, I read this novel, I didn't expriece it. When i read a novel, i expect to live it but this wasn't the case here. The description of the characters were not properly given. The author described even the smallest thing which eventually bored me.

I didn't know who the real psycho was untill the scond half which could have been good but only made me

Walking in the woodlands of Lavingsham Close was a daily routine for Billy Allen and his faithful Springer Spaniel, Ella. Growing up in the area, he knew the woods like the back of his hand, but most importantly, he knew the exact time a beautiful, blue eyed woman named Eve would be walking her dog. He was completely taken by her, everything she did fueled his fantasies. Soon, she was all he thought about, and each day revolved around seeing her. When the opportunity arises, Billy finally meets ...more

Yes, he did it again. T. J. Blake knows how to create a subtle feeling of thrill in a reader's mind. This book introduces you to Billy Allen and his dog Ella. Ella is adorable, and Billy... You need to find out about Billy yourself.

With Deception: A Love of Lies, T. J. Blake has once again created a story of normal surroundings with a mysterious character; he might be mad, and he might be sane. Similar to the case of Schroedinger's cat - you can only find out if you read this book. It is a compe

Whew! what a story. I was tense all the way through, waiting to see what was going to happen next. I haven't read many "thrillers" which accurately fit that description, many are just an excuse for violence, but this psychological thriller gave me the shivers. A very enjoyable read by an author I hadn't experienced before and whose works I will want to seek out again. If you want an incredible fright of a book this is the one. My only recommendation is don't read it in the dark! I was offered a ...more

I have reviewed a couple of books by T.J. Blake and this one was just what I expected from this talented author. Once again, Blake has created complex characters and a story full of twists and turns. However, even though I found the book riveting in a variety of ways, it did start off slow in the beginning. It's understood with any novel that characters have to be developed, but I think the process took a couple of chapters too long this time. However, the book is very good and worth reading. Co ...more

I absolutely love thrillers so this book was perfect for me! It doesn't follow the pattern of being gory and violent like a lot of thrillers but still throws in plenty of surprises! I love the way that Blake writes as it just makes the book such a page turner that I didn't want to end! I will 100% be reading more of his books as I love the way the characters are presented and how the story unfolds! ...more

Could not recommend this book enough, I loved it! It's got a great storyline which keeps you gripped throughout and characters that you can't wait to find out more about. Deception was a disturbing read, in the best way possible! The main character was scary at first, but once you get to know him and his ways, you begin to understand him. Despite the book not being in my first language (Spanish) it was very easy to read. It had very accurate descriptions and few characters, so it was not difficult to follow the plot with no parallel stories. I recommend it!

I have read Deception by T.J Blake and I like it so much. He has a unique style of writing with a lot of details. His rich descriptions create such vivid images in your mind so reading his book is like watching a movie.
The story is suspenseful with many twists and so compelling that I had some short night’s sleep.
I have a strong compulsion to discuss the different plots but I will not do it because it would obviously ruin the suspense of the story.
I have to say though, that there are few chara

An unusual novel, full of possibilities that never quite develop. There is an atmosphere of tension throughout, a feeling of something about to explode but it never quite does.

A man lives alone in despair after the death of his pregnant wife. He meets someone new and feels ready to start his life again, but who is she? What is her secret? And what does she want with him? When she moves into his house in the woods, it seems certain that all will be revealed, but what is the truth?

The story arc is

Billy lost his wife Cindy and lives alone with his dog Ella. Every morning he takes a walk through the woods with his dog, where he meets Eve. They soon begin to see each other and Billy is confused at times, wondering how similar Eve is to Cindy. Eve too has a struggled past.

Can't reveal more without giving spoilers. This is an interesting read. What drew me in is the rich descriptions that painted the image clearly in my mind. Sometimes, I was able to feel it. It felt as if I was in that place

I haven't read a psychological thriller in years, and Deception was a great re-introduction to the genre! This novel was an easy read, and kept me engaged and curious the whole time. I found the main character, Billy, to fluctuate from good guy to bad guy from chapter to chapter, and I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about him until I read the entire book.
Full of suspense and plot twists, this book had great character development, descriptive scenes (spent a lot of time in the forest, and that w

Excellent holiday read!

I really enjoyed this book, and devoured it in just a couple of days on holiday. Blake's writing really made me feel as though I was experiencing the story alongside the characters - the twists and turns are fantastic, and I loved their development throughout. I'll definitely be reading more of his work, and can't wait to see what he comes up with next. If you like a thriller or some mystery, then I would definitely recommend. This book had me thinking about it long after

I would like to thank @Booktasters for connecting me with the Author, T.J. Blake, of Deceptions: A Love of Lies. This story was not what I was expecting.
