**'The effort when you as a storyteller in writing a book is to think through the mental processes of each of the characters as they collide with the events...Abscurity is never a virtue..'

At the start of 'MEANT TO BE ME' I was both confuse and weary of it's direction then at maybe 40% it hit me that I was in for a thrill of a roller coaster ride with a psychopath. This book is darkly intense a

This story was pretty intense. I knew ahead of time it was a thriller I just didn’t expect it to mess with me a bit. It was well written and quite the read. This is only the second book I have read by Hudson but I did think this was much better than her book Mine to Keep.

The book does start off a little slow, it almost seems like it’s a normal romance, then that all changes when the stalker storyline comes through. I did guess right away who the stalker was, but it was okay because i
I didn’t read the blurb when I requested this novel. There was snow on the cover and that was good enough for me. I also haven’t read anything by Hudson before so I didn’t know what to expect. What I got was a suspenseful psychological thriller set in Inverness, Scotland. Darcy Harris is an engineer looking for a partner but not having much success. She has a stalker who seems fairly benign but is still invasive and creepy. She’s had a couple of dates which have either been disastrous or she’s b ...more

I have to admit, it took me a moment to get into this book, but once I did...

Meant to Be Me starts off like you would expect any lesfic romance novel. You've got an MC, her best friend, and a new romantic interest for the MC. I didn't really read the synopsis before picking this one up, so I was thinking from the outset that we'd get a love triangle of sorts. Stupid me found myself scratching my head trying to figure out why the MC's love interest wasn't featured more at the beginning of this/>Meant

This one took me by surprise :) the beginning of the book was quite slow for me and took me some time to get into it.. then it started getting really interesting and I couldn’t put it down!
So if I break this I would say the first quarter of the book gets a 2 rating. The romance gets a 3, the sex is non existent so I will remove it from the rating all together because to be honest I wasn’t even bothered that it wasn’t there because, the thriller part I give it a solid 5!

Anyone else have The Police song 'Every Breath You Take' in their head for this one? CREEPY STALKER. That is the theme of this book.

Darcy is a hopeless romantic that can't find love. The ladies are ditching her and the worst of it all is she has a stalker. She clumsily meets Eilidh (A-lee) on a bridge early one cold and dark morning. They exchange numbers but the timing just doesn't seem to be right. Eilidh is just coming out of a 9 year relationship and Darcy's best friend is going through a h

Well now, wasn’t that a fun ride. A lesbian psychological thriller. Makes me happy to be alive. I loved trying to figure out who was stalking Darcy and who the reader could trust. Scenes from the stalker’s perspective allow us to understand motive even if the main characters do not. This helps to build tension and advances the plot until all hell breaks loose and we get to enjoy an action thriller in addition to the head games. Add in a complex relationship or two to keep the romantics among us ...more

I didn’t know what to expect because I haven’t read a book from this author before, but I’m sure it was not the last one. I’m a fan of thrillers mixed with romance and I was curious what Wendy Hudson will throw in my way. And I enjoyed this very much.

The beginning is a little slow, learning bit by bit about the three main characters. It was exciting to have the POV from all of them. The focus in the first few chapters is more on Darcy and the stalker and just a little on Eilidh. But

Meant to be Me by Wendy Hudson is definitely one of those psychological thrillers that you might want to read in the light of day or with all the lights on in your house. I must admit I didn’t read the blurb completely, so I was a bit surprised when I realized this was truly a suspense filled novel. I am glad that I did choose to read this book.

The main character in the story is Darcy Harris, a very sweet, kind and trusting woman who works as an engineer for a company in Inverness, Sco

Great characters apart from the obvious cow bag that I wanted to strangle, quite frustrating in parts but very good dialogue, I originally did not request this but was landed with it anyway and I’m glad I was, very disappointed in the fade to black sex scene, I’ve never seen the sense in doing that, but all in all I did surprisingly like this so thanks YLVA for insisting I read it 🤭.... 3.5 stars

Engineer Darcy Harris is on a quest to find long-lasting love and no one will stop her, not even a creepy stalker or her demanding best-friend. A chance encounter with Eilidh Grey has the potential to develop into something meaningful but as the stalker’s threats escalate, all three women get involved in a dangerous game in which no one knows who they can trust.

Ms. Hudson is consolidating her voice within the lesfic genre as an accomplished suspense writer with a British feel. After

I really enjoyed this one. It was a very intense read. I thought the stalker story line is going to be a thriller kind of exciting but it actually messed with me emotionally.

I liked both MCs and their romance was sweet. The stalker part was,as I told, an emotional thing. We get to know identity of the stalker pretty fast and we do get to know what's going on in their mind. They are so emotionally damaged by the past. There is a chapter after the confront, which show us how

I was curious about Wendy Hudson's latest novel, "Meant To Be Me," after reading its blurb and excerpt, even though I'm not a fan of love triangles but the potential darkness in the story especially when there was a stalker (crikey!) lurking about quickly overshadowed my weariness about it. Plus, footprints in the snow always give me a sense of foreboding, which the book cover alluded me to. So naturally, I had to oblige by exploring just what kind of new twisty story Hudson had created in her m ...more

If you are a suspense fan, this is a book for you.

It is well written and the pacing is very good. The main characters are engaging, but what is really special about the story is that the author does an excellent job of fleshing out the nemesis, something that is often overlooked. You understand their particular kind of crazy. The secondary characters are two-dimensional, but not to any great disadvantage.

The story is set in Scotland, giving it a taste of Scottish culture.

This book was AMAZING. Just as good if not better than Four Steps. Wendy Hudson is brilliant.

Darcy Harris and Eilidh Grey meet one early morning - chit chat and telephone numbers are exchanged. Darcy is successful in her career and has the most amazing and living best friend, Anja. Her life would be perfect, but someone has been stalking her, and their actions are coming closer and closer. She'd constantly living on the edge. So, this is really good. As so many have pointed out it starts off as a love triangle between our Main Character, Darcy, Darcy's friend Anja, and Eilidh, a woman Darcy bumps into. For Darcy and Anja, it's complicated - Darcy was nursing a crush on Anja that she's slowly getting past, and Anja is straight, but might have growing feeling for her best friend. Darcy feels an almost instant chemistry with Eilidh, who is going through her own issues but is drawn to Darcy, too. However, everything is t ...more
Darcy Harris has a great job, an adorable countryside cabin, and part ownership of a sailboat. Life is good, almost perfect except for two issues. One, this beautiful hopeless romantic is looking for that perfect someone to fill her heart with love, laughter, and companionship. The second is a bit more pressing. Darcy has a stalker, who is hell-bent on running off every potential suitor and whose anger and erratic behavior is escalating quickly.

Eilidh Grey is on the road to recovery.

Darcy Harris wants to meet someone and fall in love. Sounds easy but Darcy doesn’t find it so. She’s an engineer and works with a good group of people including her best friend/boss Anja Olsen.
Eilidh Grey’s has just recovered from an incident that left her broken with a lot of work before her to just try to get herself healthy and back to work again. Her long term girlfriend Claire has decided, along with Eilidh it was time to end their relationship.

A truly excellent thriller.

If you haven't already discovered the joy of Wendy Hudson's writing you are missing out. Following on from "Mine to Keep" and the awesome "Four Steps", "Meant To Be Me" is a peek inside the demented mind of a stalker as well as that of the victim.

The plot is centred around three very different women; Darcy an eternal romantic (with a creepy stalker), her best friend Anya (who Darcy thinks she might kind of fancy but Anya's straight and married) and Eilidh a physio re

I had read the good reviews for this book, so I was anxious to read it. It took me a while to get into it, but the first half of the book was absolutely necessary to set up the back half. What a story. Part love triangle, part psychological thriller. Definitely a must-read.

This was so good!

My first experience reading anything by Wendy Hudson, and I was completely blown away with how amazing this story was. It took up a storyline I haven’t read in this genre before, and I found it refreshing, and realistic, to really capture my attention, and really draw me into the story as if I were in it with the characters.

I loved the fast, intricate, engaging plot, and the complex characters, and the twists, all absolutely brilliant! Main character Darcy, I have so much resp

Hudson is kind of like a unicorn to me. I rarely pick up suspenseful books because I can’t live with the anxiety of the unknown in books. I have to commit to a serious all day and perhaps all night relationship with a book if it is suspenseful in any way. Since it is rare I pick them up, I play out thousands of possible scenarios before I am more than a few chapters in. I must know if everything works out and how it does so as quickly as possible. I started late reading her books and ended up pi ...more

I enjoyed Hudson's first book and loved the romance in that story. I was keen to read more as I could tell she can writing interesting and engaging stories. Unfortunately this one was not for me, and that is purely down to my personal taste. For me it did not have the same feel as her first book.

I liked the concept of the story but not how it was executed. I'm not a fan of telling and large info dumps. I prefer an author to show me, its personal taste but I find telling jarring and i

‘Meant To Be Me’ is a heart-thumping, nerve-jangling, suspense story that had me glued to the page. Inverness-based engineer Darcy has a stalker and finds it hard to let her guard down, even for a second. Her loyal best friend Anja is always on hand with support and work keeps her sane. When she literally bumps into an early morning jogger, Eilidh, she dares to hope that things may be looking up for her. Will the two women ever be able to find a way to get together? I am always amazed how a writer can pluck you from your world into theirs by the first couple paragraphs. Wendy Hudson does this effortlessly in all her novel.
You begin reading Meant to be Me and are immediately transported to Inverness, Scotland where you meet Eilidh Grey who is out for a predawn jog. Eilidh has a chance meeting with Darcy Harris who is on her way to work. A connection is made between the two women with a potential coffee date TBD.

Exciting stalker romance mystery.
It is a well constructed stalker mystery although a bit predictable. I would have given it 5 stars if the pace would have been a little more even. The action scenes were very exciting, the romance very warm and giggly friendships fun. But some of the in between dragged a bit for me. Especially after the main accident.
I recommend this book and I will definitely look for this author's other books.

This was the second book that I've read by this author, and I can tell that creepy seems to be her niche. In all honesty, I think 'Mine To Keep' was a better book, at least as far as polish and the romance is concerned. But that isn't to say this one is lacking, because it's not. The romance takes its time developing, which is valid. The stalking gets incrementally bigger and scarier, resulting in our main character running when she finds out the truth. I would have taken off, too!

Meh. I rarely like suspense. By chapter 40/61?, the romance is firmly established and suspense is all that's left.
