Love has only ever meant one thing for Charia Brooks: pain. Enduring years of emotional and physical anguish has taught her how to survive. Now she’s determined never to let anyone in again. Comfortable with her new life, she celebrates her success by treating herself to a tropical island vacation.

Garrison Carter’s life has proved as volatile as the waves he surfs, and he’s learned to roll with the punches. So, when the crimson-haired beauty rejects his advances, he has no intention of giving up easily. He’ll do whatever it takes to wear down her defenses, even if it means exploiting his duo-tone eyes and enticing dimples. Unable to resist the blond and tatted surfer, Charia gives in with the notion that it’ll be nothing more than a few lecherous encounters. However, it’s an easier-said-than-done resolve when he proves very different to other men and her defensive instinct kicks in.

Helping Charia come to terms with her past isn’t as easy as Garrison had hoped. The closer he inches to her heart, the further she pushes him away. The struggle also brings Garrison’s own dark history to light. Atrocities will be shared, weighted guilt will be borne, and profound realizations will surface. It will not only take the couple down a turbulent path, but cast doubt on any possible future they may have.

Sometimes, when two people seem irrevocably shattered, they’ll find their broken pieces fit together just perfectly. But, is mere love ever enough to truly conquer all?

Michelle Geel is a contemporary, steamy romance author, aka an endearing oddball who adores that her characters are strong-willed and unpredictable, and often drags her to places she hadn't envisioned.

"Love isn't just perfumed petals and sparkly rainbows."
It's a motto her characters have adopted because as much as they may laugh or as fiercely angry or heartbroken they may be, just as hard do they make up and love.

She lives in South Africa with her two children and too many pets. She loves to laugh, enjoys playing netball when her knees allow and she has, to date, been unsuccessful in losing the recipe for a chocolate ganache cake that she's tired as hell of making.

I throwing in the towel on this one. As soon as I realized this would be an older woman/younger man book, it lost some of its luster. However, I was determined to give it a chance, so I kept reading, but I am just not meshing with this book. The style it is written in wasn't working for me (third person). Plus, there is something about Charia that is rubbing me the wrong way. I just don't like her at all.

Oh well, can't love every book, right?!

4.5 sexy, swoony stars!

I love this book! A passionate and intense romance with just the right balance of drama, angst, sweetness, emotion and steamy sexy time. It’s a sexy swoonfest that completely captured my heart.

This is my first read by this author, and it’s only her second novel, and I am so freaking impressed! She writes cleanly with heart and emotion, putting so much into the story and it flows beautifully, and this is a really special book.

Charia Brooks is enjoying the first holiday of her life. After a prolonged traumatic and tragic experience left her shattered, she erected walls around herself and she is no longer the woman that she once was, but she is vacationing on an island paradise, spending time alone and just ‘being’ for the first time ever.

Garrison Carter lives to surf. He has also had trauma in his past, and apart from his younger siblings, there’s nothing he cares more about than the waves… until he spots a red-headed Goddess on the beach. He is instantly smitten, and knows that he needs to get to know the woman who so instantly and completely captivates him.

There is flirting, banter and a whole lot of sexual chemistry, and though Charia is initially resistant to getting involved, she can’t resist the sexy young surfer (he is six years younger than she is), and oh holy God, these two are so freaking hot together! And what started off as a hook-up soon becomes a whole lot more.

She was going to have her horizons broadened to experience unrushed, deliberate and maddeningly pleasurable sex. He was going to make her feel the difference between giving and receiving. By the time he was done with her, she was going to know what it feels like to be treasured…and he was just the man to show her.

Garrison is an absolute dream as the man who pursues the woman he wants with single-minded determination. He holds nothing back from Charia, letting her know how he feels and what he wants from her, and opening himself up to her completely. But Charia has been through hell and she’s not prepared to put herself into a situation like that again. She refuses to be vulnerable and does her best to keep Garrison from getting too close, setting the stage for the battle for her heart, and I loved every moment of it!

He’d tried to make her realize the depth of her feeling by overwhelming her with every level of seduction he knew. At different times, in different places, and he was done with it. His bag of carnal tricks empty, he now only had himself left to give.
If he was never going to be enough for her to love, then that was a nightmare he’d have to face when the time came. But from here on out, he would simply adore her the way his heart told him to and the broken pieces would just have to fall where they may.

It’s beautifully romantic, and it’s seriously sexy! The sex in this book is absolutely sizzling, there’s lots of it, and it’s a big part of Garrison and Charia’s connection, an extension of everything that is developing between them, and an important part of who they are becoming together. Their journey is sweet yet heartbreaking, and it’s so beautifully written. They learn and grow so much together, I could feel what both Garrison and Charia were going through and my heart ached for them, but at the same time I was falling in love right along with them.

“I love you, Charia.”

“There’s nothing more I can do. This is my heart talking, declaring how it feels about you.” He lifted a hand and cupped her cheek. “I can’t be without you, it’s as simple as that.”

This book is all romance! There are no other storylines happening in the background, it’s all about Garrison and Charia exploring each other, falling for each other and then figuring out what to do about it. They do have some personal issues going on but it’s so closely related to the unfolding romance that it seamlessly flows into one beautifully romantic story that had me hooked from start to finish.

He’d learned that love meant holding on, as much as letting go. That love was not a controlling grip to protect … but a caring hand in support for when one might fall. The overwhelming love his heart harboured for Charia was precious, and something he’d fight for until his very last breath.

It’s a total swoonfest, and I absolutely loved it.

4.5 stars!

Crimson Tide
By: Michelle Geel
4 Stars

Just closed my kindle on this very well written book. Being as it is this authors second book, it is written so well as I was expecting it to be her 10th or so written book. There was no ‘fluff’ written into this story and it flowed perfectly. Things that you find with well-seasoned authors.

Charia Brooks is on her first vacation, trying to escape the years of pain and suffering. What better way to escape than a trip to a tropical island!

Garrison Carter is the hot surfer. Taking in the waves and relaxing. When he comes in from riding the waves one day he is drawn to the red head sitting on the beach.

These two have fantastic chemistry together. There are skeletons in both of their closets, that’s for sure! Getting Charia to open up is a major hurdle. Gar is not willing to let her go and will stop at nothing to get her to open up and realize that he is not like the other men that have been in her life.

While the time on the island is steamy hot! Will Charia finally get the help she desperately needs and return to the man that was more than she ever could imagine?

Michelle Geel’s second book and my second read from her as well. (Stand-alones) This book is quite different from the first in that it touches on some deeper emotions that focus on serious relevant topics. Although told in third person, I found it easy to follow and connected to the characters thoughts and feelings as things progressed. I’m fascinated in Michelle’s ability to weave an almost poetic tale. Her words are enthralling.

Charia had gone through so much in her past that she preferred to keep it there. She was closed off and tried to keep herself from becoming involved with anyone. She’s on a tropical vacation wanting to just withdraw from everything and enjoy herself by herself. Little did she expect...

Garrison had also been through hardships but was so drawn to Charia that he focused on trying to pull her from her mysterious inner thoughts and feelings.
He was relentless and I really loved him.

There is just so much to this story that all I can say is you must read it to experience the events, turmoil, passion and realizations by these characters.
I was so happy with the ending! Bravo Michelle Geel, I can’t wait for what’s to come from you next! Maybe Celia’s story?

If you’re looking for a book that has it all such as; beautiful characters, intrigue, romance, suspense, exotic locations, sweetness, drama, angst, and heat then this is the book you want to read.

This book deals with very real and timely issues. At times this story will break your heart. Other times you will be cheering for this couple. This is the definition of expect the unexpected and life doesn’t always turn out the way you planned. There were moments when I wanted to yell at the heroine, Charia, and tell her to just stop. I wanted her to really let herself go. Here’s the thing everyone has a story and often people hide behind it. That’s what makes this so real. Garrison is the guy every woman would want to find for herself. He’s sexy, kind, handsome and very self assured. However, we learn you have to look beyond the surface to really know someone. Both of the main characters have dealt with life in ways you can’t imagine.

I don’t do spoilers but I will say there was an issue brought up early on in the beginning of the book that I think more women than you would think deal with. I applaud the author for delving into this issue.

The secondary characters are intriguing. There was one who creeped me out who I would have loved more detail on.

This story will keep you on your turns. There’s many twists and turns. It’s the true definition of, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”. I seriously could not put it down.
I continue to be amazed by this author’s books. It’s my second book I have read by her and so very different from the last one. What will the next one be like? Well I can’t wait to find out.

I’ve read this book twice because it was a story that captured me. It took a hold of my heartstrings and wouldn’t let go! Crimson Tide dealt with some serious true to life issues. It was dark, emotional, alluring, very unpredictable and had me laughing out loud at different stages.

Charia and Garrison struggled with the demons in their past and finding comfort in each other was not an easy feat. Their journey was filled with many ups and downs.

At first, I couldn’t understand why Charia was behaving the way she was. Then as her story played out, it broke me -made me cry. I can undoubtedly say, this is one of the best books I’ve read, since 2019 started. The premise was great. The plot was realistic and the main characters were lovable. I loved it!! An enjoyable read that I would certainly recommend to everyone.

This was my second Read from this author. She captured me with her brilliant writing style in Finding A Keeper and I was excited to read more from her. She didn’t disappoint. She is truly an amazing author.

Thank you Michelle Geel for sharing this breathtaking story! XOXO

Celia was on the first vacation of her life and was hoping to try and focus on herself to try and release some of the hostility and pain from her life. The last thing she wanted was to be involved with an island fling.
Garrison has been brother and parent for his brother and sister since their parents died and he also had began made a success of his surfboard business. Spending time on his favorite island retreat between projects was one of his favorite things to do. When he saw the red haired beauty on the beach, he decided it was time for a little fun.
Celia and Garrison's story is one that will have you ecstatic one minute and cursing the past they both had endured the next. Once you start this story, you won't want to stop reading.
I have read both of Michelle Geel's books and she is a very talented writer who will have you feeling you are part of the story. I highly recommend her works.

Michelle Geel does a love story like no one else. She takes a unique HEA and spins it in her web and when she is done weaving this brilliant tell she leaves you utterly breathless and wanting more. Crimson Tide is a story about Charia who decides to up and take a mental vacation. You don't get much of a back story but that does not matter one bit. The way Michelle writes Charia is brilliant. You feel every emotion and you take the journey with her. In comes the hero of the story who has a dark past of his own will he be able to take this firey red head Charia and make her past turn to light. You shall see. Surfer God with a soul wrenching heartache of a past and a fire red head Charia with a troubled dark past have them collide together and it is so combustible that it will leave you wanting more. This book amazed me at every turn. Take this journey into love, lust, and tragic heart wrenching soul searching and you might find yourself just as hooked to Michelle Geel as I am.

This book was an absolute delight to read, the author writes in a manner that appeases my Inner Grammar Nazi, she uses Real Words like rambunctious and lascivious, Oh joy to read prose that is not filled with bubblegum slang!!
Grammar aside, this book was absolutely riveting. Without trivializing or over dramatizing the topic, the author conveys the stark reality of spousal abuse. I was completely captivated from page one. I found myself mentally chiding or cheering each character, each one wonderfully developed and authentic.
And the romance, because let’s face it, this is why we read this genre, is next level steamy. The interactions between Charia and Garrison left me panting and hot under the collar. Garrison is my new book boyfriend ❤️❤️

This one is going to stay with me for a while...I almost feel haunted by it and I mean that in a good way. Charia and Gar really get under your skin and stay there.

By the halfway point, when you learn so much about their pasts, you find yourself going about your daily life still thinking about them.

And by the end, well let's just say it had me in tears. Never before has a HEA felt so well deserved as it did in this book. They had to really, truly fight for it, to come out of the darkness like they did and find a way to work.

As for the Epilogue, thank heaven there was one because I NEEDED it by that point and it was spot on perfect hence the tears. I loved it and could not put it down!

Highly recommend! Read it, you won't regret it!

It took me awhile to actually really get into this book. It is dark and definitely contains "trigger" material for some people. I was feeling a bit frustrated in the first half of the book knowing that Charia and Gar both had issues from their pasts that left them feeling broken but not actually knowing what. We find about around half way about Charia's background. Knowing a bit more about both Charia and Gar made the second half of the story more enjoyable. The sex scenes were well written and not too much or over the top. The characters just had so much more depth in the second half. The whole story was wrapped up nicely at the end with a good Epilogue.

This book is a gem.
It was like being on a very emotional, and engrossing roller-coaster, there were so many ups and downs highs and lows with Charia and Garrison, who both had painful pasts. So nothing between them was easy, it is a slow burn of a relationship that is worth the wait.
It had its dark moments and its light moments, It broke my Heart, made me cry, laugh and growl in frustration. But I Loved every moment spend within these pages Michelle has written a beautiful story, very enjoyable, memorable, meaningful and Romantic.
An excellent Must read that I highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this book.
Garrison's fixated on Charia from the moment he sees the red-head on the beach. Charia on the other hand, doesn't want to know. So what's a man supposed to do??? Hmmm, resort to underhanded trickery and shenanigans to get to know her...and then run afoul of her sharp wit.
The banter between Charia and Garrison was hilarious in places.
The story has twists and turns and some very unexpected moments as well as a lovely build up to the blooming romance and some very hot close encounters. But nothing is plain sailing as you will find out for yourself when you read it.
Highly recommended read.

I received an advance copy of this book and am giving an honest review.

This is an absorbing story with an emotional slow burn and love scenes that are so hot, they are scorching! For at least half the book, I found myself wanting to scream at Charia "let him in"! I loved that Garrison was so steadfast in his affection and wept every time she tried to push him away. I also loved that we 'hear' the thoughts of the main characters.
I would definitely read this again.

I loved, loved it. I fell in love with Charia and Gar right from the start. I kept holding my breathe, felt her pain, and his frustration. It was endearing, sad, passionate... So well written. I can't even put proper sentences together to completely say how I feel about the book. The story just came together well. I could see everything as I read it, experience all the emotions. This was the first book I read by Michelle, but it sure will not be the last one!!!

Crimson Tide is an interesting romance built on the foundation of a terrible past Charis has never grieved over. Garrison is a man any woman would be proud to call hers, but his character was an above average man who knew what he wanted and was willing to stand and fight for the woman he loves, even when she says there is no hope. The writing is beautiful and evokes the emotional reader who can sympathize with the pain of being hurt by the one who they were supposed to be able to trust completely. Crimson Tide is my first read by Ms. Geel, but it will not be my last.

Absolutely incredible! I'm speechless. That's how much I loved how this book was written, the story, the characters..everything. Crimson Tide is written in third person which at first I wasn't sure I was going to like but it's written so beautifully, almost like poetry to me, I quickly came around to it. Michelle peels back the layers of Charia so beautifully. This is the first book I have read where the heroine is the one holding back and hard to get to know. Garrison is not deterred by her walls and knows she is worth the work. Their story hooks you right away and then keeps you there hanging. I couldn't put it down. 5 Amazing Stars!
