An intriguing blend of science, fiction, memoir, and history, this book is full of anecdotes, metaphors, and drawn-out explanations, yet it doesn't miss a beat. Although quite obviously written for political reasons, the book attempts to explain the severity of global warming. Perhaps meant to serve as a modern day Silent Spring, it offers a chilling look into the future of the Earth, using Mars as model. The author, plasma physicist John E.
