The Blue Solace #4

The Lieutenant's Mate

Rate this book
Welcome back to Charybdis Station and the crew of the Blue Solace: (Fourth Book in the series)

Sebastian Dolarnio has a past. His parents sold him into indentured servitude when he was seventeen which led him to enforced prostitution. Fortunately, with the help of some very good friends, he and his daughter are safe and have a home - a beautiful, accepting place with more family than he ever dreamed of having. Then there's his mate. A handsome, wonderful man calls Sebastian "mate" and Sebastian knows he doesn't deserve him. He has to find a way to be worthy of his new home and his new mate. A strange Crellic book provides him with the answer to his problems, but it comes with complications of its own.

Alois has been dreaming of finding his life-mate since he was a kid. He knows that Sebastian is a dream come true, but how can he convince his mate of that plus fight the baggage he carries from his own past? When Sebastian begins a strange, wonderful journey, Alois knows that he has to be the loving and supportive mate that Sebastian deserves.

The two men build a life together and learn to love one another, but the galaxy is in turmoil and Charybdis Station is in the middle of it all.

Author's Note: 54,000 words. This is a m/m love story with no angst and no cheating, just a HEA. There is lots of action, sex, mpreg, and a few potty mouths involved in the story. 18+ readers only, please. It is also the fourth book in a series that is best read in order. Read "The Mercenary's Mate," "The General's Mate," and "The Soldier's Mate" first!

I have been self-publishing since October 2018. My books are extremely light and fluffy m/m romance with mpreg, and while they span a few subgenres of romance, they have similar themes of found family and love at first sight. Besides writing, I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on, especially m/m romance. My personal favorites are mpreg, sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal.

So, this book took me forever to read. I would read some, put it down and read something else then come back to it. I don't know why because I enjoyed the other 3 in this series. And it's not that I didn't enjoy this one but this book just seemed looooonnnggg to me. Every time I thought "this is it, the climax" it continued on. I do think it could have benefited from being a bit shorter. However, I loved both mc's. Poor Sebastian had been through so much in his young life and he deserved a good mate who wanted him and his baby. Alois was the perfect mate. He didn't care about Sebastian's past and he proudly made Sebastian's baby his baby. They were sweet and perfect together.

I was glad I made myself sit down and finally finish this. It really was a good story and I blame myself for my short attention span with this book so I would definitely recommend it to those wanting to continue on with the series.

I'm giving this book 2.75⭐ because it is well throughout even though it's juvenile mostly. Not my cup of tea but in all honesty I can't say it's worth less than that.

Note to self : never try to read the whole series to get to the book you want to read.

Because that's what I've done here, I'm trying to get to another book that's connected to this series and at this point I'm not so sure I'll be continuing. This author is clearly not for me.

🟢 Charybdis station, Silverlight system; Elusa planet (probably where the next book takes place)
🟣 Ex sex worker/slave; mercenary
🔵 They get a kid, then get pregnant with another, adopt pets
🟡 A lot of other side characters with pets and kids
🟢 Another couple introduced as life mates
🟣 A short novella but so much data in there it took me a while to remember everything, you need to read previous books to get it
🌶️ One quick sex scene; t/b

The books are very plot-heavy, especially this one and I'll give it that, so many side characters, pets, events, elements, planets, you name it, I mean it takes time to make all this up and then keep the thread alive, but damn, it's just a bit too much for me.

I think the books are suited for readers below 18, because they remind me of books I used to read back in elementary. Silly, goofy, very innocent with interactions that aren't really adult-like. The author will put in that one quick sex scene so the book gets called a mm romance, but it really isn't. We're told about the lives of these couples who are living in this space utopia on Charybdis station in the Silverlight system and that's fine, but if you're looking for a more serious sci-fi romance, this ain't it.

The elements presented in this story are sometimes almost silly, like in this case shamanism. The main character Sebastian was thinking how he can give back and become an integral part of this society on Charybdis station, so with one simple meditation he becomes a shaman that can move objects, see spirits and whatnot.

“It calls to me though. I feel like I have two paths I could follow. I could be normal and focus on the translating jobs, or I could be a weirdo and become a Crellic Shaman.”

The dialogues aren't really meant for a reader like me, I think. Most of the time it's like reading a child's book. And even if that's not the case, it's not written in a serious manner, it has nothing I can be invested in, because there's just no depth given, to anything.
Even for a silly book, this wasn't good for me because there's too much information about tons of people and pets involved.

The relationship between Sebastian and Alois was boring. Boring and had no substance. It was all about the kid or the pet bird or the Fire element that just slept in their bed with them. The funny part was Alois worried how they're life mates, but that doesn't grant him the security of Sebastian not cheating on him, so that was 😄 I mean that was just ridiculous.

“I know that so damn much. The thought of you willingly sleeping with someone else, for money or not, is so completely unreal to me. You love me. Me!”

Sebastian was sold to be a sex worker, so for Alois to wonder if he'll sleep with someone else for money or not - that's what this guy was worrying about? For an ex sex slave to sleep with someone for money and cheat on him?

• Women are bitches also in this book.

“I’m so happy our parents tried to sell us,” Salla said.
Alois snorted. “Best thing ever, right?”

These were Sebastian's sisters trying to be sold as sex slaves by their parents, just like Sebastian was.

Yeah.

“You’d better not do anything crazy,” Morgan said, eyes narrowed. “I know you lost Elin not too long ago, but no one dies on this mission. Got it?”

This was a soldier whose wife died. 🤦

Alois and Morgan suddenly aren't as good characters as they were in the previous books. They're morons. The dialogues were awful, to be honest. Who can look at these dialogues and think they're ok? Not me.

The only good thing here was Rune and Silas lying in that hammock sleeping. Only thing. And they're not getting their own story - thank fuck! - because that'd be ruined also.

Great series

I really love this series. I Love how everyone is a family, and they pull in new folks so there is even more family. There is so much love, even in adversity.

While this series is best read in order, it is worth it to read to first two books to get to this one.

With Sebastien and Alois, we don't get insta love as Alois has been courting Sebastien through the first books in the series and here we get to see them together as partners and at the lovely heart of a committed relationship.

Sebastien is working toward finding his value after being traffic and sold by is awful parents. We get all gooey fun of this series with pets, kids, and friends plus really good world building and action around the main plot of the series and what I thought was tender and engaging romance.

I will read this one again!

I really like this series!

Sweetness, mpreg, hurt/comfort, found family, LOTS of crazy pets, lots of kids, and a pretty decent plot. Count me in!

In this Alois is finally back from his mission to save Wyatt Morrick and will finally be reunited with Sebastian, his mate.

Sebastian, whose parents sold him when he was 17 and who got pregnant by one of the men who used him, since he was forced to be the Wednesday night plaything.

But now that Alois found Sebastian, he is determined to shower Sebastian and baby Nina with so much love that Sebastian won’t know what hit him.

But there is also the search for the rest of the element creatures that have taken over innocent bodies. They already defeated Water, and luckily Death is on their side (since Death took over the body of Verion Morrick, Wyatt’s father, who still loves his son very much). But now they need to find Fire, who has been bound to the evil Queen, but is basically innocent. And Air, who enjoys killing people way too much.

Together the people of Charybdis Station need to find a way to do all of this. Luckily Sebastian recently found out he is a shaman with magical powers…

There are so many characters in these books. And normally I would be put off by that, but not here. I love all of them. They got introduced in such a way that I can still keep everyone apart. And I never felt that they all blended together (as I’ve seen in other books, where everyone seems to be like the other).

I have to mention the animals in this. I absolutely LOVE pets in books, and we got some awesome ones here. I have to mention Princess Buttercup again. The dragon who can change size and can either be a small dragon who likes to sit on Leti’s shoulder, or he can be 15 feet long (yes, Princess Buttercup is a HE) and can be the most terrifying soldier of Charybdis Station who can decimate the enemy in less than a minute.

There are puppies, cats, dragons, and a large variety of other animals. Oh, and let’s not forget Mustachio, Sebastian’s bird! I loved that a bunch of them joined the fights and were pretty fierce!

Of course these books are sweeter than sweet, and if you like asshole men, do not read this series.

I’m hooked now and I’m so happy there are 3 book in this series left and 2 of the spinoff (yay, for Death and yay for Fire!!).

Sebastian and Alois are one of my fave couples in this series (okay, so they are all my faves but still, these two are special)…I love how they have taken the time in previous books to get to know each other and are in love even before the kiss that shows Sebastian is meant for Alois. This book also introduces us to Fire who is such an amazing character in his own right. Add in the rest of the Blue Solace crew and found family and their antics and you have an amazing read. From Sebastian’s forays into Crellic shamanism and the lead-in to the next stage of the fight against the Concords & the Queen, this book is much less angsty than the previous book while still moving the overall series plot along. Loved.

Sebastian and Alois met in a previous book and this one picks up right after the last one. These two were not instant love mates but took the time to get to know each other and give Sebastian the time he needed to heal from his past. I absolutely love the humor that are prevelant through all of this series and the story arc that has been there since the beginning is just as captivating as it was at first. This book has action, humor, heat, and everything you can imagine.

I highly recommend reading the first three books to get a full understanding of everything. The author does explain what is happening but the first three gives it so much more.

Loved it!

I bought this as soon as it came out. And then I had to force myself to put it down to go to bed and I picked it up as soon as I woke up. I loved it. If anything, I think it is now my favorite one. Wonderful, very well written, lots of humor and lots of seriousness, the perfect book.

Magic

Sebastian was sold by his parents to pay their debts and was rescued by the Blue Solace in a previous book. Since moving to Charybdis Station Sebastian has been helping Lettie and Shay translate old books and text to get information to stop the Queen and the Concord. He is also secretly studying a book on shamanism. It was practiced by the people who created the Queen and her Elements and Sebastian isn't even sure if he can be a shaman but that doesn't stop his fascination.

Alois has been looking for his mate and when he meets Sebastian they have an instant spark but does that make them mates? When Alois is sent on a mission they are given the time they need to get to know each other without the pressure to take things to far to fast and that helps solidify their relationship in a way that nothing else could.

Death/Dr. Morrick wants to release Fire from the Queen's control but he doesn't have the power to do it alone. Death and Sebastian with the help of Alois and some of their friends from Charybdis Station work toward finding a solution. They hope to weaken the Queen by removing Fire from her arsenal without killing him because Fire would not hurt anyone if given the choice.

I really enjoyed Alois and Sebastian's story. I liked watching them grow as individuals and seeing what happened with their relationship. I also like that the characters from previous books are part of this story but don't take it over. This is Alois and Sebastian's story but with beautiful moments from our other guys lives that show us where they are now and help move the story forward. Looking forward to the next book in this heartwarming series.

This is part of a series and is best read in order to better understand the main plot that progresses through each book.

This series is an excellent mix of romance, humor, and galaxy spanning, bigotry fueled war and cruelty.

Sebastian is settling into life on Charybdis Station and raising his daughter with his mate Alois. With Death’s help, he begins to study Crellic Shamanism in an effort to be useful to his new home. Together they face a huge Concord fleet coming to attack the station and attempt to free Fire from the Queen’s control.
Alois and Sebastian must both overcome their pasts so that they can be together. While on the way to fight Air, Sebastian’s past and family force their way back into his life. There are many battles, big and small, that Sebastian and Alois must face with the help of their friends and family.

This book is rated 4 stars. There are some minor typos and errors throughout the book. The story flows well and is easy to read and difficult to put down. Each character, new and old, are unique and add to the depth of the overall story.

Personal Note:
My new favorite character has to be Fire. He is an innocent young soul trapped in an old man’s body and terrified of being captured by the Queen again. I can’t help but wonder if he isn’t going to steal everyone’s pets.

Exciting things are happening

So I absolutely loved seeing Sebastian really come into his own in this book. I was surprised that we started this book our with All is and Sebastian already having a strong relationship - it was a very different way to start out a romance novel.. I also like how fast paced this book felt without feeling rushed or chaotic in plotting.

With so many of the Queen's elements taken out, can Sebastian and allies force the Queen into dormancy like had happened in the past?

Alien Fated Mates MPREG

3.5 stars!

This is book 4 in the Blue Solace series. Each book focuses on a new couple but must be read in order due to the overarching storyline.

I dare say book 4 has been the best so far. I really enjoyed Sebastian's journey and the progressed storyline was very satisfying. What I would say was lacking in this book was the chemistry between the MCs. I just didn't feel their love as much. This book felt very much like the sci-fi/paranormal story took front and center but I'm living for it.

I can't wait to read book 5!

Shaman Wins for the Good Guys!

Sebastian and Alois' family are just adorable. Especially when they recruited an elemental ancient being in their family.
Alois being all protective and no nonsense kind of person is perfect for Sebastian who tends to let his head get himself carried away. So becoming a powerful shaman helped keep him grounded so to speak.
I will say I have cried a few times when Iread this story due to Sebastian's spirit guides returning to his life.
This is a wonderful story to read for those who like to know more about shamanism

Dangerous! Thrilling! Heartwarming!

Recognizing your lifemate is just a great first step, loving and being exclusive are also essential. Will Lieutenant Alois and his amazing mate Sebastian get that settled before Alois’ next mission? Enjoy how Alois and Sebastian handle family and job responsibilities, work together in dangerous missions and grow their love during steamy moments!!!

Weird Science

While each book has a positive spin and follows a basic “good eventually triumphs,” the overall tone remains oddly chaotic and a mix of weird sci-fi and majik. This one is no exception, with new characters and relationships introduced at some rather interesting times. These are mildly addictive and this book ends with a strong reference for the next installment.
