Electricity and Magnetism untangles the mysterious properties of magnets, and examines what electricity really is. It delves into the past to reveal some of the most amazing (and sometimes accidental) historical breakthroughs as well as considering dramatic developments that will radically affect our lives in the 21st century.
Excellent backup to schoolwork. Contains experiments, puzzles and games to reinforce and enliven theoretical learning.
A lot of this is now out of date (published in 1994). But the "Electricity in tge Future" section was an interesting mix of prescience and ridiculousness.
We liked it, but it was a little hard for Olivia to understand in some parts. This may just be because it isn't Olivia's favorite topic, so she wasn't really hungry for more info. Definitely has good descriptions and illustrations.
Great book for getting a deeper understanding of electricity and magnetism. Thorough and simplified. I did not read it in one day, just forgot to add it. Would be a bit of dry reading. Broke it up over a few weeks while working w/ curriculum.
