Wow, what an amazing Mystery story this was.

The characters were phenomenal. I loved reading about Detective Hawthorne and his adventure in this story. He was such a fantastic character to get to know.

The story-line was incredible. I am completely in awe at this story. Even though this is a debut author, Curry wrote this story like he has been publishing books for many years. There was action, suspense, and mystery throughout this story that I became extremely addicted. I wanted to help solve the crime right along with the characters. I found myself saying "OMG" and gasping out loud and I literally got worried about the characters. I could feel the intensity building up in the story the more I read it. My heart was literally pounding out of my chest and I was on the edge of my seat as the story progressed. This debut author has gained a new fan and I highly recommend this read!!

Drained has a really awesome premise, really awesome characters…what more could you want from a supernatural crime thriller?

I was surprised and delighted to find out this is G.K. Curry’s debut novel. He is a very talented writer and I am really looking forward to more from him. This novel had so much action, and brilliant twists and turns, I read it in one sitting.

What a refreshing novel. I’m really impressed, but don’t take my word for it, go check out Drained for yourself!

I enjoyed this book, it is right up my alley and very familiar to what I'm used to. It is an entertaining suspenseful novel. I'm more used to watching crime shows and I'm getting more comfortable with this genre, this book was perfect for that. It wasn't too long or overly descriptive. The characters were interesting and I loved that there was no love story because it wasn't needed. It also felt real to me, like this could potentially happen except for the supernatural aspect of it. But for me when it's hard to get the feeling that the writing style of an author can actually capture me. What most felt real for me was that our main character Shaun was married and was working on a case and was separated from his wife and they would talk on the phone, it's so simple but I felt for their distance and it felt real to me.

This is a great debut novel in my opinion. I look forward to the author's next novel.

As a debut novel, GK Curry has a writing future. His attention to detail in his storytelling would rival a seasoned writer. Not normally a crime /detective book person, I found I really was drawn into this story and didn't want to put it down. Definitely worth the read. I look forward to more from this author.

***3.5 STARS***

For a debut, this was a pretty well written. The the suspenseful plot, primary and secondary characters, and the supernatural aspect all were components that made this book work. The manner in which the serial killer targets and executes is will definitely have your attention.

Drained

Drained is GK Curry's debut novel. This is a great detective/thriller/suspense/supernatural book. People are being murdered in a college town in Missouri. Detectives Shaun Hawthorne and Danny Viviani have been assigned to the cases. No clues have been found at the deaths, other than the victims have had their brain fluid drained, until the case behind the bakery. Finally some evidence. You learn alot about Hawthorne and Viviani, the captain, the computer whiz. Will Danny and Shaun live to tell about this case? Will some of the witnesses live? Will Danny and Shaun solve the case before many more victims? This book kept me riveted and reading and turning pages as quickly as I could. I wanted to know what happened and who the killer was. This is really one of my favorite genre's and I realized as I was reading that I had not read a great suspenseful book in a while, and I need to add more to what I am reading as I have missed them. I am really hoping this is a start of a series, so I can read more. I loved the characters of the Detectives and really most of the department that we read about - Epps, Medical Examiner, Coroner. I believe this is the start of a great career for GK Curry. Already really looking forward to his next book.

Not Your Normal Murderer

I really enjoyed this book. It’s the first one written by this author and I look forward to reading more of his books in the future. We have a college town in Missouri plagued by a serial killer. This killer drugs the victims and then drains the brain fluid. Detectives Shaun Hawthorne and Danny Viviani are tasked to find this killer and are very frustrated because this killer has not made a mistake...yet. We have a supportive Captain, a great assistant, a reluctant witness, and some creative policing to solve a case.

Danny and Shaun are partners in the Chicago cop world. There is a ton of details in this book. Some you don’t need like what a character is wearing or doing. This is a first for this author. The thrill was there and truly enjoyed the story, but I felt like I had to skim some just to get through some of the details that weren’t needed. It entertained me very much and when I got to read it I couldn’t put it down. I do like gruesome detective work and need more on the edge of my seat but did enjoy it.

This is one of these books that I love! It keeps you on the edge of your seat and wanting more. You have to know who's killing these people and why. I loved how caring the detectives were with the families of the victims. They had respect and handled it accordingly. Even with the witness. You can tell how truly caring this police force. One of their guys go down and the whole crew comes running to help. They are determined this killer and bring justice to the families. I loved every minute of this book and the mystery that followed it. It was a great read!!

I really liked how things kick off from the get go and you really get to know the characters Shaun and Danny well and the supporting characters really round off it all. The killer has you drawn into the suspense as well and I loved their macabre killing signature! Even though this is a debut book the author has done really well with it and at the end of the book you are wanting to read the next in the series so bring on the next one!

This mystery will keep you guessing. The story and writing flowed so well. What makes a good mystery for me is not being able to figure out who the murder is and this one will keep you guessing. Mr. Curry throws in a twist you don't see coming. As the story progresses it gets more and more full of action at a fast past.

-Intriguing charcters
-Plenty of action
-Keeps you guessing.
