More than half of Brody’s life has been filled with abuse and torment. He ran away from home at a young age, deciding that life on the streets would be safer. With no one to hold him back, he spent the summers in California and winters in Colorado, seeking the adrenaline rush he got from shredding waves and fresh powder.
He never expected to fall for a woman who had everything he didn’t know he needed or wanted.
Paige had everything she ever wanted. With the perfect family and a loving boyfriend, life couldn’t be better. When her life is unexpectedly turned upside down, she suddenly finds herself immersed in death and deceit.
In an attempt to make some sense of her now disheveled life, Paige escapes to Aspen where she reconnects with Brody, the surfer with a bad boy persona that she’s been secretly attracted to for years.
When tragedy strikes, Brody’s past collides with his present, ultimately threatening the plans he has for his future. Turning his frustrations on Paige, he allows his self-deprecating past to consume him, and he pushes her away.
Can Paige break through Brody’s walls and convince him that the love they have is enough to conquer the past? Or will the diversity of their lives prove to be too much for even love to break through?
A little Heart breaking in places and full of emotions, this is a great story of someone with nothing gradually coming into his own with a little luck and finding a few friends to help him along the way. It shows family isn't always about the blood connection. It is a moving plot sometimes intense but it also has a few surprises along the way, it doesn't always go the way you think it will. I really enjoyed getting lost in another life while reading it and found myself willing these characters along and to work things out. A great addition to a series I have loved following and one I pre order as soon as the link comes up.
What a remarkable story! It’s heartbreaking to believe that a parent can abuse their own child or their entire family. It’s a subject that is in the news all too frequently and at best a family gets torn apart, or the worst, a child or spouse dies because of horrible living conditions or poor choices, or some other unknown reason. This story is about some of that, but it involves so much more.
Brody knows the helpless fear of his father’s voice, fists and belt. He also knows that there is no one that is going to save him from the beatings and verbal assault that his father dishes out repeatedly. At the tender age of 15, he leaves the only home he has ever known, bruised and battered, to a life of a homeless runaway.
This author creates a story that breaks your heart with Brody’s tumultuous life and the different kind of fear he must feel being out on his own and struggling to survive. Until Rocco, that is. Rocco sees the bruises and knows this boy needs a friend and a place to stay. Brody has found a purpose and a friend he can trust.
This story takes you down an emotional path that makes you feel so angry for the abuse inflicted on an innocent family forcing them to abandon each other, to the feelings of pride when Brody’s young sense of character enables him to reject the difficult and destructive life his brother has chosen. You feel amazed at the ambition Brody has to find a job and take care of himself the best way he can. He also finds the love of the waves and feels exhilarated every time he surfs, it’s his happy place.
I love Paige. She is a sweet, smart and ambitious young lady that has a life plan. She knows just what she is going to do with her life, until she meets Brody. I love the mixed-up journey these two are on getting to know one another and learning if they can be together some day. Paige seems to understand that Brody has some issues with his past and allows him his secrets until they become bigger than he can handle.
This is a wonderful, heartwarming story that will break your heart and then put it back together stronger than it was before. It will teach you many things about human nature, resilience and acceptance. I am looking forward to more from this talented author! I loved it!
Katharina Le Boeuf's Damaged Heart series is one which really plays upon emotions, LETTING LOVE CHANGE ME is no exception. even though it is number four in the series, it can be read as a standalone. it is a beautiful romance with a few twists thrown in, just to show that love is never easy.
Brody's life has never been a bed of roses. Growing up in an abusive family, he eventually escaped when he was fifteen, and learned to live on the streets. Given a job by Rocco, Brody soon adapted to his new life; surfing, living on the beach and working for Rocco. After discovering his love of snowboarding he began working at a resort in Aspen, where he meets Paige, a woman who changes his life.
Letting Love Change Me covers a span of three years. It is over this time that Brody and Paige explore their relationship ... watching it grow from friendship to love. Both Brody and Paige have history that they need to deal with in order to move forward. Once they sort their baggage out, are they able to find the love they both desire?
A wonderful addition to a touching series. Definitely a recommended read.
Katharina LeBoeuf is certainly a pro when it comes to really messing with my heart and/or emotions, so I'm not sure why I expected Letting Love Change Me to be any different. See, Brody grew up with abuse & basically torture, so you know he had some big demons that never really go away, which kind of made him an adrenaline junkie if you will. Paige had a perfect life, until she didn't, which produced some very deep scars. It leads her to Aspen, where she comes across Brody again, who she's kind of crushed on for years. Well, than BAM! Life throws a big twist their way, I drop some f-bombs on them, and here comes some serious angst that really shredded my heart, as Brody pulled some douchebag moves. Now Paige has to be the strong one, while I'm seriously calling Brody some colorful metaphors, not to mention Ms. LeBoeuf some herself, because yeah, I'm emotional now as well. So what's a girl gonna do when she can't throw her kindle?! You'll just have to decide for yourselves because I'll never tell so you'll have to one click it! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Brody came from an abusive family, where one after the other his mother and brother left him with his father. The beatings were so horrendous that at the age of 15 he also left and lived on the streets for a while. He soon found a way of life working in a beach grill Rocco's where they did a fantastic famous fish taco. Rocco took him under his wing and gave him a job. This gave Brody a life that he loved, to surf and live free in a tent on the beach. He decided he wanted to give snow boarding a go as well so split his year between California and Aspen. He found new friends in Aspen and a girl he fell in love with.
The story goes on from here about the opportunities that came Brody's way and the heartbreak. This is an easy read for the romantic in you.
I loved this book. I was angry, sad and happy. Brody and Paige were ment to be together from the moment they met. I loved the characters in this book.
Brody was abused by his father. His mother and brother were getting abused as well. His mother left, and not long after his brother also took off. Brody got the brunt of the abuse with them gone. Brody finally ran away from home. He met a man named Rocco who gave him a job. Brody had no home and no education. Brody knew how to surf in California and snowboard in Colorado. At a party he met Paige. She turned him down flat. They both thought about each other. Brody didn't think he was relationship material and Paige wanted more. Things happened and Brody changed. Could Brody and Paige make a relationship work? Would Brody let love change him?
Letting Love Change Me is the first book I've read by Katharina Leboeuf. It has romance and turns that I didn't see coming. The beautiful scenery they talked about, I was in awe.!! Not to much heat, but enough to make you fan yourself. I loved it and I highly recommend it.
This is the fourth book in this awesome series, and is Brody and Paige’s story. When these two meet it is a case of instant love, however, neither of them were is a good place at the time. Brody does not think he is relationship material, and Paige wants more than that. This is a well written flawless story which is an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end, and had me intrigued and captivated throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all friends / lovers stories.
I love an emotionally damaged hero! Brody is going to make you want more! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic's Read
Brody & Paige have this love at first sight experience that takes them both a couple of years to come to terms with. Why so long you ask? Brody doesn't feel worthy of someone like Paige even thou he wants her desperately. Paige meets Brody at a time in her life when she is not available. After getting her heart trampled on. She see's Brody again, he was never far from her thoughts. They become friends and enjoy each other company... then fall in love.
This book does not have to be read in the series.... thou after reading it you will want more.
The title and the cover model couldn't be more perfect for this book. Brody's past is riddled with mistrust and a life of near solitude. Paige had a near perfect childhood. These two are so extremely different in social standing and personalities, but have so much in common, too. I loved these two individually and in their growing, anguish relationship as a couple. Their story spans 3 years. The author did a marvelous job of sharing their story in those 3 years without dragging it out, but not rushing it either. Emma and Justin (from Damaged Heart Series, Books 1 & 2) are key characters to the friendships with Paige and Brody! I absolutely loved Rocco and what he brought to the story line! (I wanted to try his fish tacos!) Even though this is the 4th book in the Damaged Heart Series, it can be read as a standalone, but is even more enjoyable after reading the Prequel and books 1-3! Letting Love Change Me does NOT have a cliffhanger. This series reminds me of the song lyrics, "love isn't easy, but it's worth it"! A very solid 5 stars for Letting Love Change Me!
Brody's life has not been easy.. He has lived on the streets since he was 17 and has no desire to get serious with anyone. How can he when he doesn't even have a home.. When a chance encounter lands him working at a resort in Aspen he meets Paige. .She knocks him off his feet but he can't be what she wants or deserves.. After all he is nothing and has nothing.. Paige likes Brody but she has her own issues to deal with.. this book takes you on a journey of friendship and more.. Can love win in the end or will Brody's past come back to hurt him once again
Such an amazingly sweet tale about how love can help you grow and become the person you were meant to be. Finding love helps Brody overcome a past that had him believing he didn't deserve love. These characters were extremely well written and developed. The writing of this story pulls you in and captivates you. A beautiful and touching story.
