Kind of interesting, a sample of Russian writers who produced during the Soviet period. I recognized many of the names but did not actually know that much about them; (and still) don't know how they stand in context of Russian lit.

Many of the stories do feature "heroic" characters, in the Soviet sense.

The anchor story in the book is "We" by Zamiatin. An example of Soviet sci-fi, I found it difficult to get through, and also a curious choice for the long story of the book. Interesting at times,
