Hi, I'm Liz Fielding, and I'm a best selling contemporary romance author with more than 15 million books in print and Katie Fforde wrote, when honouring me with the Romantic Novelists' Association's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 said - "Liz Fielding's books, with their warmth, humour and emotion, have charmed millions of readers. She is a true star of the romantic fiction genre..."

And now I've turned to a life of crime with my first cozy mystery. Murder Among the Roses, published on 18 April 2023 - of which Katie Fforde also said, "I was gripped from beginning to end..."

Reading is a big part of my life. I love witty, contemporary romances, not too much sex,, Women's fiction by the likes of Fiona Harper, Julie Cohen, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Crusie and Barbara O'Neal. And I love crime fiction that isn't too gory, or focussed on clue hunting, but is big on character.

My best loved series at the moment are the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths, The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch and the Libby Sarjeant Mysteries by Lesley Cookman. I've just read the first in the Georgina Drake crime series from Kate Hardy and looking forward to the next.

Liz Fielding’s The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard is book 3 in The Royal Wedding Invitation series which consists of four novels written by four different authors. Each book focuses on the romance of a different couple.
The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard gives us the romance between Ally and Fredrik. Ally is to be her bestfriend Hope’s bridesmaid. Hope is soon to be marrying Prince Jonas (but that’s another book). Ally will also be doing all the publicity for the wedding. Fredrik is head of Royal Security and must liaise with Ally concerning the wedding preparations.
Sparks fly between the pair as they have differences of opinion but neither can deny that there is also an attraction between them.

The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard is a feel good story about building trust and bonding, it’s about misunderstandings and opening your heart to love.

Ally is a great protagonist, honest and upfront, charming and outspoken – an ex gossip columnist- she knows how to charm people but when it comes to Fredrik she is at a loss to understand him.

This is a fun HEA romance read and stands alone well. However I am now eager to read the stories behind the other characters in this book.

Book 1 – The Prince’s Bride (Jonas & Hope) by Sophie Weston
Book 2 – The Baronet’s Wedding Engagement (Flora & Max) by Jessica Hart
Book 3 – The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard (Ally & Fredrik) by Liz Fielding
Book 4 – The Best man’s Bride (Jack & Celina) by Anne McCallister

Ally Parker had returned home to Combe St. Philip after she lost her job at a gossip magazine and took the only job available in the small town cleaning. When her good friend Hope approached her to work PR for Hope’s marriage to Prince Jonas she saw it as an opportunity to get a foot back in a door with a job she was better suited for but knew she'd never do anything to hurt Hope.

Count Fredrik Jensson is the head of security for the royal family and he had been sent to Combe St. Philip to get things ready for the big upcoming royal wedding. Ally is at the top of Fredrik's list of potential problems for the upcoming marriage seeing how she was in debt and out of her job with the gossip mag. Royal secrets could bring big money to Ally so despite the attraction Fredrik immediately feels towards Ally when they meet he is just not sure he can trust her.

The Bridesmaid's Royal Bodyguard by Liz Fielding is the third installment of the contemporary romance Royal Wedding Invitations series. The series consists of four books by various authors that follow a story that started in the first book with Hope and Prince Jonas meeting and deciding to marry. With each additional book though the main characters switch to another couple involved in the upcoming wedding and tell their story. With most romance series the changing of the characters means they are great as standalones but this one I'd suggest following from the beginning for the full story.

This particular addition to the series for me was a good one. I immediately loved Ally and her strong will to make it on her own after the set back of losing her job. Fredrik is a bit of stiff character and one that I didn't immediately love but he did have a story there that warms him up a bit as the book goes along. I will say too on the angst side the author did a great job giving this one the twist of it being the male that had the trust issues instead of the normal female freak out moment you often get. In the end it was a nice addition and looking forward to the next.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

“The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard”, from author Liz Fielding, is Book 3 in the “Royal Wedding Invitations” series. Ally Parker finds herself at loss after losing her job with a celebrity gossip magazine. An offer from her friend Hope to handle the publicity for Hope’s upcoming marriage to Prince Jonas of San Michele is an offer she can’t refuse. Having to deal with the stern, suspicious head of royal security, Count Fredrik Jensson, is another matter altogether. Skeptical of Ally’s motives, Fredrik is not sure Ally can be trusted with royal family secrets. The fact that there is undeniable chemistry between them adds to the tension, a tension which escalates into passion. Both Ally and Fredrik have painful issues from their past to overcome, but will leaving behind the past make way for a happy future together? Their worlds are very different, but will love find a common ground for these two searching hearts? “The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard” is a lovely and romantic story from the talented Liz Fielding. Be sure to read the other books in the “Royal Wedding Invitations” series for more captivating contemporary romance.

A nice addition to the series! This is a light easy read with some great characters, low angst, and a great romance between two people who at first don't hit it off all that well.

Journalist Ally Parker has just been let go from her job on a gossip magazine and she's not quite sure what's she's going to do with her life now. When her friend Hope asks her to head up the PR for her upcoming royal wedding it seems like the perfect opportunity. Then the Chief of Security for the royal family, Count Fredrik Jensson, shows up and basically tried to fire her before she even starts. He's convinced that because of her last job she's trying to use her connection to get her job back. Needless to say there are sparks flying between these two but they aren't all about the job~~

A quick fun read I think you'll enjoy. I recommend it.

Three and a half stars.

Ally Parker used to work for a gossip magazine (think Grazia or US Weekly) until she was fired and had to return to her small country village in the Cotswolds and live with her parents because she couldn't get another job in the same industry and she couldn't afford to pay her rent/credit card bills. Now she cleans the local pub, serves in the local café and is generally condescended to by all the people in the village to whom her mother boasted about Ally's high-flying career.

One of Ally's two BFFs is actually marrying a prince from San Michele (one of those minor made-up little kingdoms so beloved of Romanceland) and she has asked Ally to do the PR for the wedding. Ally is due to co-ordinate with the royal family's head of security Count Fredrik Jensson, but he is early and manages to find her in the pub, wearing pink marigolds and a pinny. Fredrik takes an instant dislike to Ally for two reasons. Firstly, because of her former job, he worries that she will use her position to dig up lots of dirt on the royal family and their guests and sell it to the highest bidder. Second, because she hardly looks like a successful PR person in her cleaning lady outfit. Oh and he's a tortured soul because ex-military and former mountaineer and war wounds.

If, like me, you enjoyed The Prince and Me (the film with Julia Stiles) then I imagine you will also enjoy this, more grounded than some other books in this genre that I have read, thankfully much of the action takes place in the Cotswolds and not just in San Michele.

This is the third book in a series but I found it quite easy to read as a stand-alone and I have to confess I am interested in reading the book about the third couple (the chef and the Lord of the Manor).

Easy, light-hearted, escapist reading.

**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Tule Publishing for an honest review**

As with the previous book, part of this book overlaps with the previous books, however we get new perspectives and the story goes a little further. In this one we end with the wedding of Jonas and Hope from book one.

Ally is the other best friend of Hope who has fallen on hard times thanks to her morals and sleazy editor. Fredrik first meets her scrubbing the kitchen floor or the local pub wearing rubber gloves, a pinny. But Ally shows her quick thinking straight away along with her loyalty o her friend that she would rather incite gossip about herself that let go of her friends secret.

Fredrik and Ally are a great match, find themselves confessing to secrets either barley known or not known at all and are comforted and helped by the other with old hurts.

Cold seeming Fredrik soon starts warming up with Ally by his side, and Ally soon finds herself with something much more than a fling.

I can't wait to the end of the series when we get Celina's story.

I really enjoyed this one. Great set up, well developed characters and a believable journey from A to B. A beautifully entertaining read. Very little angst but nonetheless very enjoyable and emotionally satisfying. Not read anything by this author before, but I will look out for more of her books.

Believing that Ally is about to buy back her job with wedding secrets, Fredrik turns back to ice. What will it take to see the person she truly is and a thaw to set in?
this is Ally Parker and Count Fredrik Jensson's story.
Ally Parker glanced at the clock and sighed. Jennifer Harmon, the landlady of the Three Bells and her temporary boss, never failed to find a last-minute job that would take her over her basic hours. Extra minutes for which she would not be paid.
After being sacked from her job on the gossip magazine Celebrity, Ally Parker is forced to return home to Combe St. Philip.
News of Count Fredrik Jensson arrival would be the talk of the village by teatime but at least no one would be speculating on his reason for being in Combe St Philip.
He stopped in the doorway, turned, forcing her to wait while he acknowledged Jennifer with a formal nod of his head. “Madam.”
What will it take to see the person Ally truly is and a thaw to set in? read this book to find out.
The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard by Liz Fielding is a wonderful well written 4 star book.
I highly recommend reading.

Sometimes I simply have fun with characters as they share the happenings in their world. I loved Ally. She’s loyal, stubborn, smart and knows her own worth. She might be down now, but she won’t stay there. She would do anything for her friend Hope, even put up with a rude, stuffed shirt who has no idea of the type of woman she truly is.

It really is true what is said about assumptions… they do make asses of people all the time. Case in point is head of security for the prince’s upcoming wedding, Fredrik. He is absolutely convinced that Ally is out to sell wedding secrets to her old gossip magazine. After all, she’s broke, ousted from her job and must be desperate for money by now – what easier way to instant cash flow than to sell out her friend. It’s not helping Fredrik’s opinions one bit that he’s incredibly attracted to Ally. He will not allow himself to trust her, but their chemistry is off the charts so why shouldn’t they enjoy each other. It’s one way to keep a close eye on this intriguing woman.

All it took was one assumption to crash down anything that Fredrik was beginning to feel for Ally. One very wrong assumption.

I liked both Ally and Fredrik. Sure, Fredrik is stuffy at times and totally wrong… but he makes up for those mistakes in a most satisfying way. Ally is a delight and I really wanted her to find someone who saw her for the gem that she is. I enjoyed this couple and their madcap adventure towards a happy ending of their own. You cannot always go by first impressions, but you should follow your heart at all times. A lesson well earned for them both. If you love a really good romance then this is one that you’ll want to pick up soon.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Who doesn’t love being swept of their feet by a gorgeous hero a Count no less, although Fredrik comes across a bit abrupt in the beginning and he has his reasons to be this way, he soon turns around when the right heroine is there to get him to open up when the sizzle between them could light up the village and of course he is forever the perfect gentleman and he does wonders for Ally.

Ally Parker is a journalist who has lost her job and is doing what she can to keep her head above water, so when her best friend asks her to step in and do the PR work for her up -coming wedding to a Prince Ally is thrilled but of course that means that she has to pass muster with the head of the royal security first and seeing as how there is a definite spark between them this could be a bit tricky.

Count Fredrik Jensson is not overly impressed about the person Holly has asked to do the wedding PR when he checks her out that is his job after all and he does not trust her from the start, but neither is he happy about the protective feelings he has for her at their first meeting which doesn’t go to way he thinks it should, he is quite taken with that kiss.

Ally and Fredrik have a few things from their past that need to be sorted and with their trip to Fredrik’s home of San Michele they get sorted pretty quickly with a lovely sensual trip to the mountains. Fredrik runs a bit hot and cold during their journey to a HEA with Ally’s past being brought back into the limelight and secrets being released about the wedding but it doesn’t take long before the warmth is back in a good way, this is a lovely story that had me smiling true love wins in the end in a beautiful finish, I can highly recommend this one especially if like me you love royal weddings.

Ally is a journalist and she just got let go from her job with a gossip magazine - Celebrity and now Ally isn’t sure what she is going to do with her life now. Her friend Hope asked her to head P R for her upcoming royal wedding. Hope is marrying Prince Jonas of San Michele. Hope and Ally have been lifelong friends. Then the Chief of Security for the royal family - Count Frederick Jesson shows up and tried to fire her before she even starts. He says that because of her last job at the gossip magazine she is unfit for the job and trying to use her connections to get her job back. The moment and Frederick and Ally meet there is some hot chemistry. Then Frederick and Ally have to go to San Michele together for an official announcement of the wedding.
I had mixed feelings for this book. I loved Ally and Hope’s friendship. I thought Fredrick had no right deciding if Ally deciding if ALly was fit for the job especially as ALly was already chosen by hope to do the PR for her wedding. Plus he was judging her because her last job had been with a gossip magazine and actually put into question her ethics. I did like Ally and Frederick after the story got going. This was a quick read. I did have some problems keeping my interest going in this book. The pace wasn’t too bad. I just felt this was missing something. I didn’t really connect with the characters. As I said I had mixed feelings about this book.

There's nothing quite like a royal wedding to stir up excitement!  With book three in the Royal Wedding Invitations series, Liz Fielding brings us Hope's friend and bridesmaid's story! Ally and Fredrik have sparks flying quickly after meeting and it's fun to watch them be a bit leery of each other while at the same time sharing more of themselves with the other than they do the typical person. The plot is fun and the characters are easy to like!

Working menial jobs in her hometown certainly wasn't the dream Ally Parker had for herself, but after a sudden firing from her job at gossip magazine Celebrity, she didn't have a whole lot of option available ... so this is where Count Fredrik Jensson finds her when he comes to meet with her about doing PR for her childhood friend's wedding to a member of the royal family of San Michele ... talk about embarrassing!

Fredrick is head of security and takes the royal family's safety seriously. He's not happy that a former gossip monger is privy to all of the secret wedding arrangements of the bride-to-be. He's just waiting for those plans to hit the magazines when she sells out to the highest bidder! Forced together on a trip to announce the secret engagement, they find themselves sharing secrets about their lives and actually liking the others company ... will sparks fly during their time together?

A lovely story about Ally and Fredrik, one of four about a royal wedding.
Ally is a journalist, fired from a gossip magazine for being too ethical, working at two pubs as a cleaning lady and a server to pay her bills, keeping an endless pool of secrets while she can sell at least one for a huge amount of money and pay off all her debts. Besides being a bridesmaid to her childhood best friend, she's also doing PR job for the wedding.
Fredrik is a security chief for the royal family, a solder from a long line of solders, a count since he was 11 after his father's death, estranged from his mother due to a misunderstanding, survivor who learned not to trust people and emotions.
Their connection is strong from the beginning, but Ally don't see a future in it and Fredrik is looking for a reason not to trust his own feelings. They're so good together and complement each other from the start, even when they seem so very different.
Core of the story is very serious. Fortunately, Liz Fielding's trade mark witty dialog and flowing story line give light and colour to this romance. I loved this story and read it twice in succession! I am looking forward to reading other 3 stories in this series.
I received this ebook in Liz's giveaway, no strings attached.

I received a copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Journalist Ally Parker has returned home to Combe St. Philip after losing her job at a gossip magazine. She hs to take any menial job she can find, including cleaning the local pub, just to make ends meet. When her friend Hope asks her to head up the PR for her upcoming royal wedding it seems like the perfect opportunity.

Count Fredrik Jensson, head of royal security, is not impressed with the person Holly has asked to do the wedding PR. He's just waiting for wedding plans to hit the magazines when she sells out to the highest bidder! Sparks start to fly at their first meeting and continue to build. Will the return of Ally's former boss end any chance of HEA?

This was light-hearted read. The characters are likeable and the romance is nice but there is a lack of conflict in the story. Any issues are quickly resolved and events that have caused severe trauma to the characters are resolved by a conversation with the perpetrators.
This is a good read if you're not looking for much drama.

The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard by Liz Fielding is a lovely, relaxing story that is quick to read. If you are tired of silly heroine’s always misunderstanding the hero’s and taking ages to get to the point, then this is the book for you. I enjoyed the fact that Ally Parker is a sensible, kind hearted and lovable heroine without all the unrealistic histrionics. The hero, Count Frederik Jensson, is a dream-worthy, brave and protective guy that you can’t help falling in love with.
Ally and Frederik work closely together to help make their best friend’s royal wedding secure and as private as possible. Frederik is quite sceptical about Ally’s role as PR manager, after all, she used to work for a gossip magazine! As the story progresses and the two get to know each other, undeniable feelings start to develop…
I highly recommend this book to romance lovers who just want to put their feet up, enjoy a glass of wine and escape into a wonderful love story that will keep you smiling throughout.

The third book in the Royal Wedding Invitations series belongs to Ally Parker, Hope’s best friend, who recently moved back to Combe St Philip after losing her glamorous journalist job with Celebrity Magazine. Ally is desperate for money and takes on a job she really doesn’t like. But it pays the bills. When Hope asks Ally to do PR for her wedding, Ally is excited. She has so many great ideas. What Ally didn’t expect was to have a bodyguard under foot the entire time.

Count Fredrik Jensson is head of security for the royal family. He arrived in Combe St Philip and make sure everything was secure for the royal wedding and to meet Ally, the bridesmaid. Fredrik did not trust Ally after doing a background check on her. So, he planned to keep an eye on her. He didn’t imagine they would end up falling in love.

I enjoyed this book as much as I have the previous books in the series. Ally and Fredrik didn’t seem to be a good match at first, but they brought out the best in each other. Plus both having issues from their past made the story interesting.

I really wanted to like this book as i liked the premise behind it. I liked how it was supposed to be about a person who is essentially the friend of a cinderella type character rather than a cinderella character herself. However in actuality the main character essentially becomes a cinderella type character with a count falling in love with her - and she doing menial work such as cleaning in a pub.

The book is actually quite boring. Don't get me wrong - it is a decent book, it is just a bit dull. It needs more humour, or a bit more friction between the characters. There is no lead up to the romance - it just seems to happen instantly even though the count and Alice don't know each other that well.

The description of events and scenes is very monotone, so you as a reader don't feel exited for Ally's first arrival at the palace. Little is made of it or its description.

As such the book as a whole is just ok. It just lacks that magic to make it very good.

After The Prince's Bride, I was totally into the San Michele court. So a story about Fredrik, the head of security and Ally, lifelong BFF of Hope is too good to pass up. And indeed, we get to swoon over Fredrik. The upper stiff security guy and the easygoing gossip girl. What can I say: opposites attract. And they do. But still they distrust each other and they misinterpret situations.

Liz Fielding does an excellent job in giving the story (and especially Fredrik) multiple layers and twists and turns. So the book is very refreshing, swoon worthy and a great read. Warms your heart and keeps the pages turning.

So four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc. And of course, I'll be looking out for the other parts of this series Royal Wedding Invitations.

The Bridesmaid's Royal Bodyguard by Liz Fielding is book three of Tule Publishing’s Royal Wedding Invitation Series. Each book has been by a different author. The second through fourth stories are about family and friends of Hope and Prince Jonas, the wedding couple. It is amazing have this series has clicked seamlessly together.

Still, this is my favorite of the four. Mostly that is because of the characters that Liz Fielding created. I liked Ally especially since she is honest, loyal and caring but manages to also be levelheaded. I understood Fredrik’s cautious opinion of Alley. That made for a bit of an enemies to lovers story-line since Fredrik was in charge of security. Yet, the drama is not over the top since they are not really enemies. The well-developed characters of Bridesmaid's Royal Bodyguard made this a fun afternoon read.

4.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

A clean, romantic romance. I received a copy of The Bridesmaid's Royal Bodyguard in exchange for an honest review. This is a story about family history and overcoming obstacles. Ally lost her job when the job asked something from her she was unwilling to do. Fredrik is a count, but, he is also the security chief for the royal family of San Michele. The prince of his homeland is marrying Ally's best friend. The wedding is to be held in Combe St. Philip which is a British village. Ally is in charge of the wedding and Fredrik is in charge of the security set-up. They are forced together due to the circumstances and also because they are the only single people in the wedding party. Fredrik is not just a security chief. The family and history of Ally and Fredrik and the location of the wedding are great characters in this book. It is a warm love story that readers will enjoy and a catalyst to look for more Liz Fielding books.

Lovely! Just lovely! The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard is the third in the four-book multi-author Royal Wedding. I’ve read all four stories and they’re all gorgeous. They are linked but I read them out of order and it really didn’t matter. They are all gorgeous stories in their own right.
This one brings together former gossip magazine journalist Ally Parker and Fredrik Jensson, head of security for the San Michele royal family. On the surface, these two seem to be polar opposites as she’s working on publicising her best friend’s wedding to the prince whose family it is his job to protect. At closer quarters though the similarities shine through - each is protective of and loyal to those who to them.
Ally and Fredrik are well developed characters with all the hurts, hopes and passions of real people. While the royal wedding adds a fairytale quality to this story, it is nonetheless a story I could relate to because these two are so believable. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing their journey.

I so enjoy reading books based in the English countryside and this one was not only based there but we also got to hop over to a fictional European country and experience their nobility. This is part of a series written by different authors that area ll linked but can be read as a stand alone. In this book we get to know Ally Parker, one of the bridesmaids and PR specialist as well as Count Fredrik Jensson who is in charge of the Prince's security. So security for a Prince you ask? Well Ally's bestie Hope is getting married to Prince Jonas in her small town and of course they need to keep things secure and under wraps until they can announce it to the world. I really enjoyed this book. It was fun reading about the small town country side and how they hold a wedding compared to a royal wedding. Watching this romance come together over the pages of this book is like watching a movie on tv... I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Ally fired from her job as a gossip magazine journalist is to be bridesmaid to her best friend Hope who is marrying a prince. Hope also gives Ally the PR job for publicising the wedding. Fredrick a count is Chief royal bodyguard and responsible for all the wedding security. The relationship between the two develops quickly, although a romantic mills and boon type story I must admit to being rather bored by it all. Although there were problems that occurred they were resolved too quickly and easily, a bit more angst would not have gone amiss.
I haven't read the two previous books in this series, and although this can be read as a standalone I must admit to being confused at times.
If you just want sweetness and light this is the book for you, not taxing but not stimulating either.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book

Ally Parker is not in a good place right now as she lost her job as a journalist and is struggling to make ends meet.  Her best friend is getting married to a prince so she naturally she asks Ally if she would please do the wedding PR which should be no problem and looks forward to getting away from her problems for a while.  All seems fine till she has to meet the head of security Count Fredrik Jennson.  They have met in the past and some things that were never resolved puts a spin on the reunion .  What happens on their journey to his country when the past comes out again in the midst of all her PR work. Together they find that the spark is still there, will they allow the past to destroy a second chance for them? Enjoy the reunion, experience the ups and downs of their feelings and as always with Liz Fielding, be prepared for a loving ending to a truly lovely story.

This is the 3rd book in the series Royal Wedding Invitations.

Ally Parker is a gal that was let go of her job, as a gossip magazine journalist. Her friend Hope thought that a different job and different area might be just the thing Ally needed. Fredrick Jensson showed up and tried to get Ally fired before she even started. Ally was hired by Hope to head up the PR for her upcoming royal wedding to Prince Jonas of San Michele.

Fredrick believes that there is bad in Ally and that she is soaking up the wedding secrets to sell to help earn her job back. Neither knows how to work as a team with the other. So they need to learn how.

You can read this one alone but please think about getting the full series.

The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard is the third book in the Royal Wedding Invitations series. Each story is by a different author and bits of them overflow, although they can each be read as a standalone. Ally lost her job and returns home. When her friend, Hope, asks her to do the PR for her marriage, Ally jumps at the chance. The head of security, Fredrik, informs Ally that she isn't right for the job. But when Ally meets up with her former boss, Fredrik assumes the worst and thinks she is spilling secrets. Can they both find the truth in each other? Will they find more? This was another enjoyable story in this series.

After losing her job Ally returns home to Combe St. Philip for a fresh start. Her friend Hope is marrying into royalty and asks Ally to handle the PR for the wedding. Count Frerik shows up to take care of security. Having researched Ally he has serious doubts about her ability to handle the PR for the royal wedding. Her past employment makes him question her loyalty to the bride. When they meet up sparks fly. Can she be trusted with the royal family's secrets? Can they work as a team and possibly find their own happily ever after? This is suppose to be a stand alone, but I think I would have benefited from reading the earlier books first.
