There's also going to be a kickstarter to fund issues 2-5, just like when the series went to DVD/BluRay.
I'm waiting on the physical copy to come out, but I'm super excited to read this.

Wonderful comic. The art is high quality and the writing is great. Troy does an amazing job writing plots as usual. Kind of disappointed that Tim wasn't the main character, but Skully definitely balances that out.

Jessica ha continuado con su vida después de una serie de eventos traumáticos que la marcaron de por vida. Sin embargo, un día como otro cualquiera, la sombra del pasado comienza a perseguirla de nuevo.
Marble Hornets fue una serie que marcó mi adolescencia (esta típica parte de ella en la que crees que eres único e inigualable, en la que el resto son unos inconscientes mientras tú eres perfecto) y ahí se mantuvo hasta que me hice un revisionado durante la pandemia cuando descubrí que Tim Sutton estaba haciendo directos comentando todo el proceso de producción. Investigando un poco más sobre la serie, me di cuenta de que la historia había sido continuada por Troy Wagner a través de esta novela gráfica y, automáticamente después de conocer este dato, estuve pensando en ella durante muchísimo tiempo. Unos amigos se percataron de esto y me regalaron los tres números que hay actualmente a la venta por mi cumpleaños. Y aquí me hallo, con un bagaje emocional de 9 años que ha podido continuar evolucionando gracias a este cómic.
Me ha gustado que se haya centrado en Jessica y no en Tim, por ejemplo, pues es un personaje que se exploró poco en la serie y que me resultó curioso en su momento. La introducción a la nueva trama que nos ofrecen Wagner y Reynolds está bastante bien y tengo ganas de seguir leyendo. Los dibujos en acuarela me resultan preciosos a pesar de ese diseño tosco que tienen; es precisamente por esto mismo que me gustan, concuerdan a la perfección con el tipo de historia que se quiere contar. El orden de las escenas está un poco raro y me hubiera gustado un poco más de introducción a la vida actual de Jessica, pero no son cosas que me hayan molestado demasiado.

This graphic novel is only 40 pages long and has few words per page so it’s a really fast read. I enjoyed Marble Hornets in college when the videos were still coming out fairly regularly on Youtube. I still have notifications on for the channel despite the series being over. That’s how I originally got my hands on this comic, I backed the kickstarter.
I think this comic’s greatest strength is also one of its biggest weaknesses. That is, it’s very cinematic. It feels much less like a graphic novel than it does a small film project. The panels are set up in a way that you feel like a camera tracking movements. This is fun and helps the horror atmosphere shine through really well.
However, this also means that very little happens in these 40 pages. So many panels are wasted on basic movements instead of plot or character. In a movie, you can build tension with shots that are a few seconds long. With a graphic novel, you have to sacrifice entire pages to equate those few seconds. So that’s the weakness. I can tell the writer is more of a director than a writer.
While I don’t think this is a bad graphic novel, I do think it’s a really niche graphic novel. If you’re not into Marble Hornets or know anything about it, I’d recommend either checking out the youtube channel and familiarizing yourself with the content (I recommend that anyway, I really enjoyed the videos!) or waiting and getting your hands on several issues before beginning your read. This reads like the beginning, which it is, but it doesn’t have enough meat to it to keep you going. At least pair it with the second issue to make a judgement.

I haven’t read this since it came out and I love the continuation of Marble Hornets. I never expected Jessica to be the main character and have a delivery job but I love the concept. I can’t wait to see what the Skully Character will bring to this series since he was cut out the original series.

I absolutely LOVED Marble Hornets and as soon as I saw there was a comic series decided to buy it.
Im actually really happy that we get to see Jessica more, I really liked her in the youtube series

I remember when this was first announced. It was genuinely, genuinely, a revelatory experience. I was on call with someone I no longer speak to while we both refreshed Troy's Facebook page. When the announcement image dropped, we scrambled to Amino of all websites to announce the news. My former friend's post made it to the front of the Mr. Creepypasta Amino home page, while mine floated around from person to person I could reach out to. I was young and excited.
When it actually released, I don't think I appreciated it as much as I should have. It was still an experience to receive the comic, but it was different. That's the point of it, really. It is a way forward for the series without needing to be too attached to what it was before. It feels slow now because it is the starting point of a new series. It isn't great or anything, but I appreciate the new beginning it gave a series I thought was well and truly over. It lays the ground work for what would come after it, and that is what it is meant to do.
