Wake had lived in fear for far too long. Life hadn’t been easy for him. Every day he resisted his natural instincts to claim the one female meant for him. An event from his past stopped him in his tracks every time his primal urges pushed him toward her.

Paige accepted the role she played in Wake’s life. She was the one he wanted but never allowed himself to have. But whe

Audiobook review. Fear is powerful. It can stop someone from doing something as much as it can push them to do something they might not otherwise do. It’s a testament to one’s character how one uses its power.

Wake’s growth in this novel is evidenced by how he transitions from one end of the spectrum to the other. While I admit it was at times frustrating to wait for this development to happen, I respect that it takes time to establish his behavior and patterns before moving forward.

Wake's Claim is the first book in the Paranormals of Avynwood series which to the addicts out there is the spin-off to The Ariane Trilogy. Let me start off by saying it isn't required reading but GO BACK AND READ IT FIRST!!!!!!!

Sorry that came off wrong. Let me try again! Do not even think about picking up this book until after you devour The Ariane Trilogy. *Rolls eyes and buffs* Fine.

*coughs and mockingly says* It is not required. The author says so. BUT I SAY READ THEM FIRST! You will appreci

I'm claiming Wake and Paige one can't go with out the other lol! What an amazing story! Wake has self doubt and doesn't think that he deserves Paige but Paige thinks he doesn't want her!!
This book is every emotion all round in one big ball!
Michelle Dare's writing flows with such ease as her characters come to life, it ebbs and flows gracefully with every page that is written, I am star struck!!

Wake suffered recent trauma that left him in a very fragile state.
He knows his mate is Paige but he’s too paralyzed with fear and it keeps him immobile.

Paige hangs out with the pack and is thinking about moving on, but it’s really when another shifter expresses interest in her and then she’s taken, does he wake up and finally take action.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I'm going to be completely honest here. I almost put this book down. The beginning of the book got under my skin so much. I just can't even begin to explain it. One of my biggest turn offs with books is the angst stuff that tends to hit lovers at random. Well, mainly when it's been drawn out in the most excruciating and painful way possible. I stuck with the book anyways. I'm glad I did. It really turned around. The only thing I want to critique is that I wish they had drawn out some of the thin ...more

3 1/2 stars. — Angsty story about Wake who’s a shifter and Paige who’s not - who are fated to be together but due to circumstances, Wake tries to resist. A major part of the story is spent with Wake denying his feelings for Paige and staying away from her while at the same time wanting her and not wanting anyone else to have her. She’s mostly hurt and confused by his behavior. It does tend to get repetitive but that’s because Wake and Paige keep cycling in and out of the same thing without movin ...more

I really really loved this story. I would rate it as a 4.5, but since we can't give half stars.🤷 But I would like to point out one thing that just rubbed me wrong and threw the entire conversation off for me. Wake is timid and not sure of himself. So a non-confident person would not use the term "baby" ughhhh this drove me nuts. Confident people call their significant others "baby" .This just threw off the entire book for me. Had he said while being shy and Paige told him that she liked it I wou ...more

OH my stars! Where to start with this one! Let me just say that you need to read the Ariane Chronicles to get the full effect of this book, however you can sorta read it as a standalone. With that being said, you do want to know what culminated to this point of Wake’s life. Oh and to toss out there, Ford is still mine. I don’t share well and this story just made him even more mine because of his wit and banter with everyone!
Shall we get to the fun stuff? The connection that Paige and Wake have i

I had already read Wake's Claim and then I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook. I feel even deeper in love with Michelle Dare's paranormal world. Wake's audiobook is amazing, Troy Duran and Sarah L Colton do an amazing job bringing the story to life. I felt all the emotions, passion, and love in Ms. Dare's words.

Wake oh my sweet Wake I have wanted you to be happy since I was first introduced to you in the The Ariane Trilogy, which you need to read. I will say again I don't normally go for paranormal, shifters any thing paranormal its just not my thing. What is my thing is a story with characters that make you feel invested, I love these guys and how they love is breath taking to read about, it is in their DNA to give everything to their mate, and thats what all women want. Wake was so broken and depress ...more

Overwhelming and overlapping relationships

I thought this was a standalone. Seems you need to read the Ash Moon series prior to this to understand in detail all that took place. There is enough story relived throughout this book to get the gist. However it may help make the weird relationships make better sense but still weird.
The first 45% of this book I really didn't like it. Remember in my mind it was a standalone. It didn't make sense to me how severe Wake was punished for perusing a potenti

This is probably a great YA story. I didn't know that when I downloaded it.

The characters were a bit immature for me and jumping into it was confusing. I found out why when I went to look at the author's other work. I'd advise you read her Ariane series 1st. I haven't read it, hence my confusion. When I looked it up I discovered that, yes indeed, these characters were in and have just graduated from high school, that explained the immaturity.

But, honestly, I had to force myself to get through t

I don't know why my summer reading has been mostly about mates, but this book didn't disappoint. Wake's Claim follows the perspective of Wake, a wolfshifter who doesn't want to accept his mate bond, and Paige a human girl who wants nothing more than Wake to accept their bond. Wake tries his best to stay away, but in the end, can true love really be avoided?
Additional Thoughts (contains spoilers):

At the beginning I was confused. There are many references to other horrible things that have happened to these characters mutuel times. Since I thought this was the first in the series I now have to wonder if it’s some type of spin off.

Upon getting to know Wake I am not sure why he isn’t claiming his mate. I thought that’s what all wolves waiting their whole life for? I really felt sorry for Paige. She wants him but he denies her so she tries to move on.

This book was just outstanding, which made it very hard to put down, but I did just that I savored every page of Wake and Paige's story, just to make it last.

We first meet Wake and Paige in the Ariane series, while it is not necessary to have read this series first I would recommend it for many reasons one being that we get to know Wake and Paige and this authors books are worth every penny you pay for the book, her words will blow you away.

This book is filled with love and suspense, the struggl

*WARNING* contains adult situations
Wake is a wolf shifter with a troubled past. Someone messed with Wake's senses to make him believe he found his mate, now he doesn't trust himself.
Paige has known he was her mate since she found out about the paranormal world through her best friend. What Paige doesn't understand is, why he doesn't want her.
This has all the feels of a PNR. Shifters, Vampires, and Fae, oh my! I like that even a strong, handsome, powerful shifter can be filled with self doubt...

A great start to the Ariane trilogy spin-off series!

This is a spin-off from the Ariene Trilogy and the author continues with the clean romance writing style that she started with there so I will be recommending that my 7th grade daughter continues on after she finishes reading the trilogy, which I finished and had her start reading last night! I read a lot of paranormal romance and so many are stories that I think she'd enjoy if the love scenes weren't so graphic. While she has the maturity to r

LOVED IT!

This was the first book I chose to read since subscribing to Kindle Unlimited and it did not disappoint. Such a good read. Solomon, Wake and Ford were definitely my favorite characters. I LOVED the dynamic between the three and Solomon was too funny. The attention to detail was amazing and didn’t leave me with any lingering confusion or questions as to how or what was happening. The author explained shifters, their world, previous events, characters relationships etc. in a way that was

To be honest I really didnt want to read beyond Ari's story I loved so much but lots was left unsaid at the end of her story...I admit I did skim through some their story or love never really hit the spot for me but there was alot of love once Wake got over all his fears and regrets...the end definitely was suprising and I was GLAD to see Orion still having problem with paranormals wanting his mate ❤ those always make me laugh! I'm more interested in Fords story and the Faes but

Loved the story!!!

Finally, a wolf shifter story that doesn't have an alpha male as the main character. For real, one of the first things said is he's a submissive wolf. In shifter wolf stories that is so freaking rare. And his reasons for staying away made sense, mostly, and once that was overcome it didn't become a problem again. There was no relapse of sorts.

While I felt the writing was cohesive and had a good flow, it felt like a lot of the time the telling was straight forward, no working th

This is a story that take place after the event in the Ariane Trilogy ( The Ash Moon, The Somber Call and The Cruical Shift). It is a return to Avynwood Clan. The author (Michelle Dare) does an okay job of giving you the background history. Yet I still felt like I was missing something. Apparently there was a great war which affects the development of all the characters in the book. Including the main characters Wake and Paige. Wake insecurities and and why he doesn't trust his own instincts come ...more

Wake was the one character from The Ariane Trilogy that I want to see have his HEA. He went through hell and back in The Ariane Trilogy. I won't say what that hell was as I feel like saying it is revealing a spoiler if you have not read them. Ms. Dare takes a scared Wake and in the process of a little over 200 pages doesn't fix him completely, but fixes him enough that he can let go of the demons from his past and live a life he deserves. I am looking forward to finding out how she fixes Sienna ...more

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.

We get a lot of back and forth from the main characters because Wake wants to be with Paige but is afraid of getting hurt and Paige is tired of being hurt and rejected by Wake. We are mostly told of the inner struggle of why but I would have liked if the author expressed their inner struggles with their situation better. I enjoyed the story and was very satisfied where it went and how it ended.

The narration was great. I thought their voices fit t

The first half of the story got to be pretty repetitive while the main characters dealt with their biggest hurdle of their relationship, which made it more relieving than exciting when they overcame it. My biggest hangup with this book is that it is very dependent on one of Dare's other series, coming after those books. While the story came through without me having read that whole series, the constant re

This is the first book in the Paranormals of Avynwood Series, a spin-off of the Ariane Trilogy. Unfortunately, I haven't listened to this first Series, and I feel like I'm missing something. Otherwise, Wake and Paige's story is interesting, and complex. The story has humans, shifters and vampires. The secondary characters are great. I like the Epilogue. Troy Duran and Sarah L.
