I adore every series from London! It took me a little time to get into the paranormal aspect of this series, but I now find it very endearing and love the historical mystery element that has come out of it. This particular book had a lot of plot twists and humor, which I love!

Almost a three for this one. I know it's a cozy, but that doesn't mean the characters can't be intelligent. I have gotten away from "cozies" for just this reason. I'll read the next, because I want to see what happens with Edward, but I sure hope that London Lovett shows us a smart Sunni, not a lucky Sunni.

The carnival is in town, and everyone is expecting a good time. Sunni is tasked with writing a glowing article about the sad and tacky little tradition, and she isn't very excited about it. However, when one of the carny regulars ends up murdered, the article takes a different spin, and Sunni is more than happy to help her boyfriend Detective Jackson solve the crime.

I enjoyed the first 4 books in this series. But I could not get excited about this book. I found it boring and a chore to read. The characters fell flat and I was disappointed that Edward wasn't more present throughout the story. I will try the next one and hope it is as good as the first 4.

At this point, I just read the series because of Edward. He's my favorite character in this series. And I don't feel any chemistry between FL and ML. Their romance seems forced.

“Calamity at the Carnival” finds us back in Firefly Junction. This time Sunni’s sister and brother-in-law are away for a romantic weekend and she and her other sister are in charge of taking care of the animals on the farm including the vicious rooster, King Harold. Unfortunately, her sister breaks her wrist leaving Sunni to most of the tasks and nursing her sister back to health.

Meanwhile, Sunni has been given an assignment to write an article about the annual visit of the Stockton Carnival. The carnival has lost its shine and looks to be barely hanging on. Of course Detective Jackson and Sunni manage to get in a few smooches before the Palm reader is murdered in her tent. Jackson is working another crime but that doesn’t stop Sunni from trying to solve the murder on her own. She even gets to write about it despite the protests of her envious and petty colleague.

No installment of Firefly Junction is complete without some interaction with the resident ghost, Edward. Sunni has discovered some information about his son and it is causing some apprehension from Edward.

Of all of the installments so far this wasn’t my favorite. There wasn’t as much romance, action or excitement as the others but I did enjoy it. The writing is good and the characters are stellar. I am off to read book 6. Love the series.

Sunni's latest assignment is to write an article about the annual carnival that rolls into town during spring break. Besides the obvious enjoyment of getting to spend some time wandering around eating sweet treats with her favorite hunky detective, Sunni's not all that jazzed with what she's learning. Until, you know, someone ends up dead. Then she has a story. (And that makes it sound like she's offing people just so she has sensational stories to write and that's not the case AT ALL. The lady just likes following clues and figuring out whodunit.)

Soon Sunni's meeting up with the carnival people, learning their secrets, and trying to figure out how a fortune teller ended up dead. She also gets the joy of (yet again) viewing a dead body since she and Jax and the first on the scene (thanks to another interrupted date).

A little fun in the sun, a murder, and a whole lot of clues to unravel. Sunni's in her element as she uses her journalist's nose to sniff out who's guilty. *thumbs up*

I am enjoying London Lovett's Firefly series! The stories are fun, lighthearted and so far from reality it's easy to lose oneself in the story without getting caught up in peaky thoughts like "that would never happen" Of course it wouldn't, that's the reason to read it! You like the characters and the relationships. There is no tense drama...its a charming way to spend a few hours engrossed, in this case, a carnival with sweet cotton candy, games, and a ride for lovers with a twist. Sisters who really like each other and a ghost who is nervous about learning what happened after his death. I finished this, jumped up and grabbed book six, and spent the rest of the evening in the land of wicca....

Wonderful writing continues in this newest book of the Firefly Junction series! As always, the characters are introduced easily and have interesting and entertaining interactions with other people in the story. Love the background of a carnival to this story which allows readers to reminisce about ones they may have attended in their youth. The journalist/amateur sleuth did some great investigations that seems entirely realistic. There were many twists and turns keeping interest high and page turning to see what happens next! I can hardly wait to read the next book in this intriguing series.

I was given an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Great book. Sunni does it again. She is a better detective than the actual detectives. There is a murder at the carnival and she snoops until she finds clues that lead to the real killer.

I love this series!!! So much to read about with Sunni's family, the farm and the inn.
I love the continuing story of Edward and I am starting to hope I am guessing who just might be his descendent! The characters are so much fun and I love the animals especially the dogs and baby goats.

Fun story

I am totally enjoying this series. I like the haunting aspect as well as the murder investigation. I don't believe the police aspect is accurate but don't care that much. Good stories.

Riveting

I've enjoyed reading about Sunni and the handsome detective. London has kept me riveted to her characters and stories. So much so that I'm onto her 6th book in the series and not moved on to another author.

I'm really coming to enjoy the Firefly Junction series! In this one, the summer carnival is in town and, as avid cozy readers know, when an event is happening murder is sure to be close behind! I love Sunni and her friends, and getting to see more of her budding relationship. And of course, EDWARD. I love that ghost!

This book is number 5 in the Firefly Junction Mystery Series and I loved every word of it. I think I love them so much because I get to check in with all of the characters I have come to love in this series, as well as meeting new ones.

Sunni Taylor is owner of the Cider Ridge Inn and reporter for the town newspaper. Sunni is remodeling the Inn so she can open it up again. Her sister Emily has a farm near Sunni's Inn and Lana her other sister lives in a house around them both. Lana runs a party business. They are all very close and along with Sunni's best friend Raine, they all get along fine and help each other out. Sunni also is the girlfriend of the town's most eligible and good looking detective, Jackson!

In this book, Lana breaks her wrist, and Emily has gone out of town with her husband so that leaves Sunni and Raine to take care of the farm and help get Lana's party favors put together.

The Carnival has come to town and Sunni's boss has given her the assignment to do a story on the carnival, which she is not thrilled about; the carnival comes to town every year, and each year it looks more washed out. However, since she has no choice she goes to check things out.

The very next day there is a murder at the carnival! There are all kinds of people that it may be so Sunni puts on her detective hat and sets out to solve the murder. Even though Jackson is not in charge of this case she decides to check it out anyway!

Will Sunni be able to find out what happens? You will have to read it to find out! On another note, Edward is about to find out something he wants to know, thanks to Sunni's help. It's always good to keep the Cider Ridge ghost happy after all!

This book can be read as a stand alone but it is, in my opinion, better to start with the first books so you will love to get a new one to read! Here are the books in the series;

1. Death in the Park
2. Killer Bridal Party
3. Murder at the Inn
4. A Humbug Holiday
5. Calamity at the Carnival
6. TBA
I gave this book 5 stars, and can't wait for book 6 to come out!
