Poor Finlay and Blair have a boatload of problems. England is in the midst of civil war in 1643 and they are about to drag many of the Highland clans into it. Loyalties were tested between Royalists and Covenanters. Times were very dangerous and very tense.

This story picks up shortly after the climatic events of Highland Temptation, Finlay Cameron, the bastard son of the English Earl of Middlesbrough and Catriona, the aunt of the Cameron laird is arriving at the McNab keep to deliver some bad news to Blair. Finlay has admired Blair from afar for years, but she was promised to Henry Graham and far above his touch. Highland Salvation by Lori Ann Bailey is book 4 in the Highland Pride Series. This is the story of Blair Macnab and Finlay Cameron. I have read the previous books, but feel you could make this a standalone if you wish to do so.
Finlay has been tagged to deliver news after the battle in Edinburgh which will take him into Scotland and England. Blair's brother John is the one that suggest marrying Blair once the news has been given to her. Finlay has been smitten with Blair from the start but hasn'

Highland Salvation is the fourth book in Highland Pride series although each book can be read as a standalone. I have never read any of the previous books nor anything by this author. Overall, Highland Salvation has a good storyline and was a good read, but not great. For me, what kept it from being great was how it was written. There is a lot of repetition of ideas, for example both of the character’s insecurities. Blair comes from an abusive relationship and therefore is mistrustful and insecu ...more

This book was an okay read. Maybe it's the feminist in me but I had a hard time with a lot in this book. I hate when men demean women, mistrust them and what not over stupid stuff. It just feels like the author is trying to create conflict. I have found that a lot of new romance writers nowadays try to put in a more modern view in their historical romance books. This book is more on the older side. Which I do believe many would like.

I really liked Finlay and Blair’s relationship dynamic, especially in the first half—the circumstances that brought them together show an excellent level of understanding and care in a hero. A mix of danger, politics, family, and marriage make up the pivotal concerns of the book, and they mesh together well.

My main problem is that there were considerably too many times that Finlay either doubted Blair or disregarded her, which got a bit painful to read after a while, especially since it continu

Blair MacNab has always tried to earn her father's affection by proving herself capable, but he's only ever cared about what her good looks can do for him in a marriage alliance. I don't read that many Highlander romances, but this one stuck out to me in particular. Usually, the illegitimate child storyline comes into play for a historical romance based in London, not Scotland, but this book was a bit of both.

At first, I was a bit confused. I thought that Blair was going to marry her betrothed's brother, but then she was able to run off with Finlay! Thank goodness she was able to, however, because Henry and his family definitely wouldn't have given her a good life. Her r

Scotland, 1643 "How do ye tell a lass the man she is betrothed to is dead?" such was the thought of Finlay Cameron, the bastard son of an English earl and the Cameron laird's aunt. Now with her brother John, they were going to relay the news. Yet he had seen Henry abusing Blair just the week before and knew he was a bastard. When John suggested he mar ...more

Simply put, I loved Finlay and Blair's story! This author knows how to weave her stories so well and this one is no exception. Finlay has always cared for Blair and when her betrothed dies and he thinks she's carrying a child, he offers to marry her. Blair is being blackmailed by her dead betrothed's cousin so she decides to accept Finlay's offer.

What follows is an adventure from Scotland to England, filled with intrigue, suspense, twists and turns, romance....with the blackmailer following the

I received an advanced readers copy through NetGalley and volunteer my review.

Highland Salvation by Lori Ann Bailey was definitely a fun story to read. It had lots of intrigue, people living secret lives, family loyalty, family treachery, misunderstandings, blackmail, love, devotion, and so much more.

Lori Ann Bailey did a beautiful job bringing Finley and Blair together. I will definitely recommend this story and add it to my read again pile.

The intrigue of conspiracy and war. Finlay is sworn to protect the British Royal crown. He marries Blair whose father is considered to have divided loyalties. There are multiple layers of deception present in the story that will keep you turning the pages. There is also the romantic relationship that grows out of the marriage which is fraught with emotional upheavals. The family dynamic of Finlay, especially between his parents, is dealt with in a very sweet way by the author. It is a book that ...more

This is the first book ever that I have read from this author. I think the authenticity of the time period is there. However, honestly, I could not get past the first few chapters because of a trigger. Before the heroine married the hero, she was previously betrothed to a physically/sexually abusive man. Although it was not described in full graphic detail, it was something that discouraged me to read on. Maybe once I get over this I can go back and read the book again and look at the story in i ...more

The writing was immersive.

The imagery was amazing.

Blair was a bad butt b****. I loved her so much. She wasn’t willing to give up hope on the relationship with her husband despite the slightly unconventional start to the relationship. She was not willing to just be a “normal” (note the quotation marks) bride. She was going to get involved. It’s really interesting how she was fighting more for the freedom to do things than freedom from her family.

Finlay, on the other hand, was just slightly more t

I really enjoyed Finlay and Blair's story!

Finlay has admired Blair since they first met, but she has always ignored him. When Blair's betrothed dies in battle, her family is determined to see her quickly married. Her brother approaches Finlay with an offer of marriage and he agrees on the condition that Blair does. They are soon married and on their way to see the king...but Finlay thinks that his wife might be trying to kill him. Was his marriage a mistake or is there something else in play?

The minute I started this book, I became disagreeable. I did not want to cook, clean, speak, sleep. I have read everything this author has published, and she only gets better!
Finlay is a fabulous hero, and Blair is a hero as well. Not a heroine, but a true hero. I could understand Blair's decision to be just as good as her brother in every aspect of daily life simply because her father believed her to be less.
I hope that this book leads to a sequel, as I hated to say goodbye to th

This book annoyed me many times over..I felt for Blair this woman went thru a lot and she honestly needed a break and there were times that it was just difficult to read, I hate when woman are treated like trash, and she went thru that. She gets blackmailed, and Finlay pissed me off to by constantly wondering about her..Finlay wasn't bad by any means and he himself has some issues that he needed to work thru, but again give this woman a break please...
