In this book the main character, Ellis, is off for summer vacation and has it all planned out. However, her mother volunteers to bring an unprivileged child, Lilac, into their home and has Ellis spend all of her time with her. Ellis doesn't like Lilac and is frustrated with the whole situation. She drags Lilac around with her and tries to entertain her anyway she can. This book is a well written and I would recommend it for someone in grade/middle school.
