Legacy of Lies is the first book in a brand new series, Hell’s Valley, by Jillian David. I fell in love with this author with her Hell to Pay series so I was so excited to see what this new series would be about. Let me tell you, it was fantastic!

The cowboy:

The family this series will revolve around are the Taggarts. They live on a ranch in Copper River, Wyoming. There is something special about the Taggart siblings. They each have a special ability. The father doesn’t have any such ability so I am hoping

A paranormal cowboy. Well, I have to say that this is a first. And I liked it!!

He's been trying to hold everything together for his family and their ranch. After reading Ms David’s Hell To Pay Series, I didn’t think she could do much more in the PNR genre, but she delivers again with extra toppings on this sucker!

Wow! Just Wow! Oh, and did I mention wow? David definitely launches her new series with a bang with this novel. I devoured it in a single sitting. This world comes to life with vivid descriptions and intricate world building. The plot is unique and had me guessing. I love how David introduced me to different elements of what is going on in this town and around the area through the various characters that we meet. The uniqueness of the plot combined with the aspects of mystery were gripping. And ...more

I have not been fortunate enough to read any of the other works by Ms. David but I am going to change that now. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Garrison Taggert grew up on cattle ranch and is taking over for his father. He has a lot of responsibility that has landed on his shoulders. His wife left him after draining their bank account and now he is raising his son with the help of his father and sister. The ranch is in financial trouble and to top it all off Garrison has a pare

“I care about who you are now. And the woman in front of me is beautiful, intelligent, and hotter than molten lava. If you think that we could have a future together, I want to try. I love you, Sara Lopez.” – Garrison Taggart

Boy, oh, boy! A new book series from one of my favorite paranormal writers - and it's western themed?!

In Jillian David's new series, we follow the lives of the Taggart siblings, who all seem to have more on their plate than just taking care of the family's ranch. Born with
Garrison Taggart doesn’t have time to deal with touchy-feely junk like “trust issues” or “feelings.” His dad’s health is waning and the family’s Wyoming ranch is being sabotaged. Too bad his supernatural ability to tell when someone is lying has been exactly zero help in ferreting out the betrayer so far. So, when sweet schoolteacher Sara Lopez raises concerns about his son being bullied, who can blame a guy for getting a little testy?

The last thing Sara needs is any more attention o

I like discovering new talented authors over the blog and I have found some great ones so far. This was a new author for me as well since I haven’t read anything from her so far. The book started good. Great actually. The writing style was very good and kept me in the story. I found it easy to read since there were no mistakes (grammatical or spelling) found throughout the story. The characters were well developed and their actions made sense from

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Legacy of Lies by Jillian David. It was a strange and fresh new concept of a contemporary rancher-romance juxtaposed with elements of paranormal and thriller, which isn’t something I’ve run across in the past.

Technically speaking, the book was well written. There were no obvious or jarring typos. The narrative was clean, flowed easily, and for the most part, the dialogue was believ
Actually, it was a nice read, the writing was good, and I enjoyed the plot. The only problem I have with this book is the paranormal element. It pretty much ruined my mood to have a sizzling hot cowboy romance. Don't get me wrong though. The chemistry between Garrison and Sara is sizzling hot, alright. It's just that, in my very humble opinion, the book doesn't need the paranormal element.

Thanks to the author for providing the e-book in exchange for a review.

Who doesn't love a good paranormal romance? I know I love them. This book caught me in from the cover. Wow thought there could be some great looking guys in this book. I am not too much into westerns though. So, I was a little spectacle on this part. Garrison Taggert is a great character and dad. There is many elements to this book that come together well for. I was a little surprised how much I enjoyed it. * I received this book from the author---Here is my honest review* ...more

This is a terrific start to a new series.

Garrison Taggart has always lived on the ranch that he is now running for his father. There is always lots to do and not enough hours in a day to do everything so when his son's second-grade teacher, Sara Lopez, tells Garrison that Zach is having trouble at school he doesn't handle it well. Sara wants the best for her students so she asks Garrison personal questions hoping to get a better idea of Zach's issues, but that worries Garrison even more. He's af

The Hell’s Valley series is paranormal western series about hot, psychic cowboys. Legacy of Lies follows a woman named Sara in rural town called Copper River. It’s such a small town where everyone knows everybody and their business. Nothing is a secret in this tight-knit rancher community. Sara first meets Garrison through his son, Zach’s parent-teacher conference and there is immediate chemistry. But Sara’s

I received this book to give an honest review.

So I was told this book was a western romance and for some reason I had it set it in my head that I probably wouldn't like it because I am not a fan of western books. That being said I finally was able to get to this book and I was really amazed at how much I was into. It didn't feel a western. Just a really hot dad who has a lot on his shoulders and works a ranch.

I am really torn between 3 and 3.5 stars. I was expecting a cowboy romance, which I received. There was a paranormal aspect thrown in, which I didn't mind, and it was interesting to a point.

The paranormal abilities of the Taggert family were thrown into the story with not much explanation. Ok...Garrett can do this, Shelby can do that, Kerr can do something else, and Dad can't do anything. Wait. I started out reading a cowboy romance that morphed into a family with psychic abilities. Did I miss s

Lies Revealed and Hope Found

Garrison Taggart and his siblings each have a secret paranormal sensory power. However, each of their powers comes at a physical cost.

Garrison's power is the ability to discern a lie, except in his own personal life. Hence his divorce a year ago. Now he's a loving, but bitter, single dad. It's complicated.
Sara Lopez has a checkered past that she's been trying to live down for years. She's come back to her home town as a teacher, and wouldn't you know she has Garrison

This book is the start of the Taggart Family story. The story is set in Copper River Wyoming. Garrison Taggart is the second oldest in the family but is tasked to run the ranch because the oldest brother took off. His son Zach is in Sara Lopez's class. She so far is the only teacher that stands up to Garrison and actually speaks her mind and asks him about his ex-wife leaving and if that behavior affected his son. 3.5 stars.

This book starts out as a cowboy romance, with a young woman trying to overcome her small town past and the grouchy single dad she has to deal with in an attempt to secure the boy’s happiness. But from quite early on it becomes obvious that this is more than just a cowboy contemporary, because Garrison isn’t just grumpy, he’s a psychic who can tell when someone is telling lies.

From there this book steadily moves on with the attraction between Sara and Garrison swiftly turning into a ro

Small town ranching community. Single father of a troubled 8-year-old son. A teacher with a past. Throw in some supernatural abilities and the romance thickens.

The Brands are hard to avoid. Their ranch is next door, one brother runs the local hardware store, another is school principal, twin boys are in the same school, their father the sheriff, ranchers congregate at the only cafe in town.

The combination of paranormal, esp, and insanity create a milieu that is broken all too often by lack of

A highly suspenseful paranormal romance, this novel keeps the tension riding high. Sara has had a less than stellar past, and regrettably, there are people who won't let her forget it. Garrison is buried in troubles with his ex-wife leaving him, the damage and thefts of his property and the on-going harassment from the Brand family. It becomes clear that the central point of all the trouble is Hank Brand, and he appears to have an incredible hold over the rest of his family. As Garrison and Sara ...more

So I already knew the author was awesome, but this proves to me she is as versatile as she is imaginative and descriptive! An awesome romance centering on ranching and horses and small town life with tiny hints of paranormal activity dotted throughout.

What could easily be just another psychotic ex-boyfriend story is turned into a fantastic trip through the lives of the Taggert family. From rustlers to arson to kidnapping, she wraps you up in their lives and takes you on a roller coaster of emot

Since I had previously read the 3rd and 4th book in this series, I decided to read this one when offered a free copy from eBook Discovery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I had liked those books but I didn't care for this one. It started out well building the relationship between Sara and Garrison and the growing fear that Sara felt for Hank Brand.
