A fun heart-warming read. Perfect for Spring!

Fabulous new book from the best selling author of Oh Crumbs and Too Damn Nice. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this. It was very easy and quick to read and grips right from the start.  The story is a Bodyguard tale, with Kelly the genius virologist who needs protecting by Marc. One of Ben's issues is his worry of being thought unintelligent by people. For me this really helped as the author often explains the science in words that he can understand. I am so rubbish at science and quite often if there’s science in the book, author’s forget that their audience may not understand. Like me! ...more
This is romantic suspense with a huge dollop of humour whisked in to make a tasty treat, a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Dr Kelly Bridge is a scientist who is working on developing a vaccine that would protect against a smallpox based terrorist attack. Her work is progressing well and should be completed soon but that makes her a target for those who wish to prevent her succeeding - or using her skills for their own nefarious purposes. That's why her parents have insisted she ha

Ooooh, this is so good!! I mean seriously this is way beyond just being good, this is in a league of it’s own for greatness. Romance, comedy, thrilling action it has everything! This is only the second book I have read by Kathryn Freeman, I was hooked by the first of hers I read; Oh, Crumbs! I fell in love with her serious and realistic and very easy to read writing style so I knew that I had to read this one too. As soon as I read about this I just knew; This book is going to be a good one! Do ...more

*I voluntarily reviewed this book from the tour organiser

CRIKEY A BODYGUARD by Kathryn Freeman is an energetic and action-packed romance that is sure to set your pulse racing.

When Kelly's parents insist that she has a bodyguard as she finishes up her work on a vaccine that could be used against a terror threat, she thinks they are paranoid beyond belief. But it isn't long before they are proved right in their fears and Kelly must disappear with the man who will take a bullet for her, Ben Jacobs.

I absolutely LOVED this book!
I quite liked the uniqueness of a scientist needing a bodyguard and I could totally understand Kelly Bridge being a bit apprehensive about some bloke following her around everywhere, but she's an intelligent woman and knows there's not much point arguing with her parents, so she reluctantly agrees. And, if you're going to be followed around by a bloke all day then you could do worse than Ben Jacobs. If I needed protecting I'd certainly want him on my side! He is a V

I like romantic stories. I like thrilling stories. I like funny stories. You can imagine my happiness when I found out those three things were mixed together resulting in this very enjoyable book.

The background was an original one and even though science is not exactly my cup of tea, it was interesting to read about Kelly’s work and I learned something today.

Learing and pleasure do mix together, so it seems :).

The writing style was fluent, the funny bits made me smile and my heart broke on occas

The title of this book did make me smile. When was the last time you heard someone say ‘crikey’?

Well, “Crikey, a bodyguard!” is scientist Kelly’s Bridge’s response when her parents say they have hired a bodyguard to protect her. They are concerned that she may be in danger due to her work developing a vaccine against possible biological terrorist attacks. She is one of the youngest research scientists at her lab, having been fast tracked through school and university. She is completely passionat

I loved it! Crikey a Bodyguard had just the right amount of suspense and romance to keep my nose firmly glued to my e-reader! It was enthralling, entertaining, and impossible to put down!

It tells the story of Dr Kelly Bridge, a young female scientist who is in the process of developing a vaccine for a variant of smallpox which might potentially be used by terrorists. Her parents are concerned for her safety and insist she has a bodyguard. Reluctantly she agrees, and they hire an ex-Special Force

When Dr Kelly Bridges voices concerns to her parents that she feels she may be being followed, her parents call in a security firm to provide a bodyguard. Enter Ben Jacobs…

The two main characters are Kelly and Ben and initially they appear that they are like chalk and cheese in so many ways, or maybe I should say they are brains and brawn! Kelly is a genius when it comes to her career and her research into viruses, she is all about her work. Ben is macho and just a bit yummy sounding… ok!… a lot

When your parents hire a bodyguard to protect you, then you know things are getting serious! And that is the situation Kelly finds herself in as she works on a very important vaccine, and what follows is a thrilling and fast paced story that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Kelly is very focused on her work, and coming from a family of scientists, her parents are well aware of the importance of her projects. So when she gets the feeling that she is being watched and followed, her parents don't want to take

This is my first book by Kathryn Freeman and after reading the synopsis I jumped at the chance to read it!

I really enjoyed this book, this read is totally up my street... full of action, suspense, humour and romance to boot.

Dr Kelly Bridge is not your typical damsel in distress but a scientist developing a vaccine against a potential biological terrorist attack. After a few odd run ins with strangers, Kelly’s father decides to enlist the help of a bodyguard to protect his daughter and here we m

I am a fan of Kathryn Freeman’s previous novels, so I was so eager to jump straight into Crikey A Bodyguard.

Kelly thinks her parents are overreacting when they insist on employing a bodyguard to keep their daughter safe. She is a scientist working on a new vaccine against biological terrorist attack and her parents feel that her life is at risk. Actually, Kelly has to admit that some strange things have been happening recently, so she agrees to keep her parents happy.

This has to be one of the most fun and entertaining romances that I have read for a while.  It combines romance, humour and action - what more could you want?

Dr Kelly Bridge is working on a classified vaccine when a few strange occurances happen.  Her parents insit on hiring a bodyguard until she has finished her work and so...introducing Ben, ex-special forces and a hunk.  Kelly is reluctant at first but then n incident makes her realise that she needs Ben's protection more than ever.

Having enjoyed 'Oh Crumbs', I jumped at the chance to read Kathryn Freeman's latest rom-com . and I'm glad I did!

Kelly Bridge is a scientist, and a very smart one at that. Working on a potential world-wide breakthrough, her parents - both imminent in their own scientific fields - are concerned about her safety and hire a bodyguard to protect her .. much to Kelly's horror. Ben Jacobs was a career soldier, good at what he does but paper qualifications are not his thing. Now working for a private s

Written in Kathryn Freeman's delightfully amusing style providing great entertainment with value for the reader.

This is probably not the most unbiased review you will read. I was keen on Kathryn Freeman's books when I had read Too Charming and entirely hooked by Before You. As part of the Choc Lit Tasting Panel (who read the submitted stories without knowing the author) I read Crikey, a Bodyguard and it stood out immediately as a story to publish. When I later discovered the author I knew why!
This is an oil and water story where Ben and Kelly are out of their depth in each other's worlds. A relationship d

In Crikey a Bodyguard, we have two contrasting characters: Kelly, the super-smart scientist and Ben, the man of action who find that despite their differences, there is a strong attraction between them. It is interesting to see their vulnerabilities as they are pushed to the limit. Kelly has a close knit family to consider which Ben has not. He is a loner and Kelly recognises in him some of the insecurities she has always felt despite her advantages.

I found this to be an eminently readable boo

I really enjoyed every aspect of this story, Kelly is highly intelligent, but lacks common sense. Ben isn't the academic that Kelly is, but he has his own style of smarts, having served in the military his way of thinking is tactical. This made for a really pleasing dynamic between the two. The perceived threat that Kelly doubts exists becomes alarmingly real when she is pursued by those that intend to abduct the brilliant scientist. Kelly's explanations to Ben helped the reader understand the s ...more

"Fast paced" describes this novel well. Starting from the moment Kelly realises she really needed a bodyguard, there's more action than I would have expected. Good thing it's a romance, or I would have worried way too much about Kelly and Ben to enjoy following their adventures, while knowing it had to end well only made the book hard to put down as I wanted to find out how they would get through all that alive (and in love), and of course who was behind it (which added a welcome touch of myster ...more

This is a fabulous, fast paced book, so much so, I didn’t want to put it down. Great believable and charismatic characters, great plot – a brilliant scientist is forced, against her will, to take a bodyguard, when it looks like somebody could be following her and her family are concerned. It is not a relationship either of them feels comfortable with. He’s ex-Special Forces (what’s not to like) and she’s developing a vaccine (and in her own words a bit of a geek). Kathryn has once again produced ...more

Another winner from Ms Freeman – feisty heroine, gorgeous hero, dangerous situation, HEA – what’s not to like?
The book tells the story of Kelly – a clever scientist who is trying to develop a particular vaccine. Her life apparently becomes threatened, so her parents hire a bodyguard for her, ex-Special Forces soldier, Ben. Kelly thinks she is an unattractive geek, Ben thinks he is a thick, uneducated squaddie. The position quickly becomes dangerous, until all becomes resolved, though not without

This book really gives you a lot for your money! A romance, a thriller and a gentle explanation of viral technology! I loved it and had a very late night to finish it before bed. The hero, Ben is a real man in all ways and the heroine, Kelly, a well put together lady. Their initial meeting was unwanted but eventually it all works out, but what a journey. The adventure they embark on is believable and the end unexpected. Make sure you have a stash of chocolate to hand and a suitable beverage as y ...more

One of my favourite books so far this year! Kelly is a highly respected scientist and Ben is ex-special forces, so both are leaders in their field but are also very different! Yet they each feel their own shortcomings, which they need to face as they try to escape assassins, threats and attackers! There is non-stop action in Italy and England, as they are thrown together. This novel has everything - fascinating leading characters, action, and twists and turns. Kathryn's novels just get better an ...more

Kelly is an star scientist working on a vaccine for a potential new strain of smallpox. Ben is a bodyguard hired to save her, but Kelly is having none of it – why would a scientist need a bodyguard?

This is a endearing story of two misfits – the scientist and the bodyguard – who find adventure and love despite their best tries not to. A great story with a lot of twists and turns.

I’ve always been a fan of Kathryn Freeman and yet again she’s produced another unputdownable read. She has struck a clever balance between building the suspense in the story and the sexual tension between Kelly and Ben. The pace never lets up; just when I thought things had calmed down, something else would happen. A nice little sting in the tail at the end too! Highly recommended.
