I enjoyed this book but I definitely think it would’ve been better had I read The North Novels. I kinda felt like I was missing something because of all the secondary characters that I didn’t know anything about. Jax O’Connor and Lani met when they were teenagers and the two of them became very close. Even though they loved each other Jax broke Lani’s heart thinking he was doing what was best for her. Lani went to Seattle to attend college and Jax stayed in Alaska to help his parents with their ...more

A fun glimpse into the future of the Northland characters. Cara has teased fans for months with this novella and it was certainly worth the the wait. Hot, sexy, funny and an extremely adorable ending it’s no wonder I’d devoured it in a little under an hour.

I’ve been rooting for Lani and Jax from the very beginning and I was excited to read their story. They’ve both grown up so much!

A quick and easy read. It doesn’t matter how short of a book, Cara Dee’s writing is always consistent. She tells

Saying a Cara Dee book is hot is like saying water is wet, because DUH

This was a sweet and fun read.
And despite it being short, it contained everything you'd found in a much longer novel. There was your intros, your family drama, your action scenes, your UST, your possessiveness, the oh so steaming sex scenes and all the humor you can imagine without it feeling crammed.

Doesn't mean I don't want more because I do

I loved Lani the first time, and now I love her even more. Jax is a great character

I'm often stoically silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there's so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex.
